As the bell rang, the others left the room for lunch, leaving the two of them alone in the classroom. Suddenly. Ana pulled Valerian by the collar of his uniform, pinning him against the cold brick wall.

"Look, Valerian. I'll be honest. What you're asking me to do is dangerous. You want to use me to find a cure for the virus. That means you'll be experimenting in me, on my blood, on my body. And to be frank, I DON'T WANT THAT." Her voice was sharp, each word laced with intensity.

"Even if it's for the greater good?"

"What do you know about the greater good? You literally pushed Kalix Dyle off the clock tower and didn't hesitate to shoot him." Her fingers gripped Evan's collar tightly, her knuckles white against the fabric.

"I did that because he was infected."

"You don't seem like the selfless hero type who would do things for the greater good." She said skeptically.
