Chapter 15: Milk Powder

Lu Jueyu stopped Wang Muxiao from hitting Lu Wenfeng, and said, "It's okay. Xiaofeng has a fever and may feel unwell."

"Xiaofeng is a good child, she shouldn't cry. If you behave well, auntie will give you candy, okay?" Lu Jueyu coaxed the child while stroking her soft hair.

Feeling the cold palm gently stroking her hair, Lu Wenfeng, who was originally afraid of her aunt, finally turned her head to look at her. Seeing her gentle eyes, she nodded.

"Good girl. Sister-in-law, it's cold now, you should take her into the room. I'll bring Xiaofeng some milk candies tomorrow." Lu Jueyu said, waved to Xiaofeng, and returned to the main room.

Wang Muxiao looked at her back with a dazed expression. When did her sister-in-law treat her child so gently?

Wang Muxiao scratched her head and felt that what her husband said made sense, so she stopped thinking about it and went to make a glass of milk for her daughter. As long as she can get benefits, she is very happy. It seems that Li Chenmo really likes Lu Jueyu. He even gave her milk powder.

Seeing his wife's actions, Lu Cheng sighed. Even if his wife is outspoken and gossiping, he can only accept her bad side as she accepts him. Therefore, he cherishes her very much.

After leaving her brothers' home, Lu Jueyu didn't go back to her room, but went to the kitchen. She poured out the water in the tank and replaced it with the water in her own space. After that, she boiled some water and made three glasses of milk.

Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "Brother Chenmo gave it to me. He said it was good for your health and asked me to give it to you two. I know it has a fishy smell, but you need to drink it. This is his good intention."

Father and Mother Lu only smiled and drank the milk. Fresh milk may have a fishy smell, but powdered milk is fragrant and sweet. Nobody can dislike it. They say that because they can't bear to waste such a good thing. Since it was the kindness of the son-in-law, they accepted it.

The three chatted while drinking milk. Without Li Chenmo's knowledge, Lu Jueyu had already helped him establish a good image in the Lu family. As for Lu Jueyu, she just used him as a cover, and she didn't expect her family to like him because of it.

Waking up early the next morning, Lu Jueyu saw smoke coming out of the chimney, so she went to the kitchen. When she entered the kitchen, she saw her sisters-in-law were busy making breakfast. She was surprised and asked, "Eldest sister-in-law, Second sister-in-law, why do you get up so early?"

"Xiaofeng woke up because of the cold and refused to sleep. Since I couldn't fall asleep, I decided to make breakfast. But when I came, my sister-in-law was already cooking." Wang Muxiao said with a smile.

"You just recovered from your fever, so leave the matter of cooking to us." Chen Anwen said while slicing the pickled vegetable.

Lu Jueyu saw the porridge with more water than grain and then looked at coarse-grain pancakes and pickles. After a while, she said, "Sister-in-law, let's add some rice to the porridge. If you add some meat or eggs, the taste will be better."

Hearing her words, both Chen Anwen and Wang Muchiao looked at her. Seeing them looking at her strangely, Lu Jueyu asked, "What's wrong?"

"Jueyu, although we can eat meat before the Chinese New Year, we still have to save the food until next year's harvest. What if we use up all the food before the distribution day?" Wang Muxiao asked.
