Chapter 20: favourite things to do
The morning that followed, Jade woke up with a good mood. She would meet her family and the thought of it made her excited. Going to the bathroom, she saw that the bathtub was already refilled with warm water which made her wonder who had done it. Not giving much thought, she took a slow bath so that she could sooth her mind and body which were overwhelmed.
Jade who had dressed up for the day got out of the room where she found the king seating comfortably on the couch doing nothing. Alvin only gave her side glance and stood up while giving her his usual bored expression. "You don't expect me to go with you dressed up like that now, do you?" Alvin asked as he took slow steps towards her. "You can't be next to the king while wearing those ugly clothes." He added. He had seen the way she had outrightly ignored him which made him want to poke her so that she could talk and it worked whereby she angrily looked at him. If she would be given permission to hit that king, Jade would do it without hesitance.
"I can go home on my own, your HIGHNESS! You should look for a princess. I think they can dress up to your liking." She said without restraining her anger which made Alvin's lips pull up into a smile. "If I have not made myself clear, let me tell you again. You are stuck with me forever. Keep that in your mind, and one more thing don't ever think of telling anyone about my abilities because you might not like what I will do. "What? You will kill me?! Just do it now because I will tell everyone I get a chance to tell." Jade stood at the same place courageously while saying those words and even when Alvin closed the gap between them, she did not move even an inch. "No sweet girl. I would never kill you I _ I'll just kill those people you tell and I will make sure you watch me torture them until they die. Just try me." The way he said those words, Jade could tell that he was serious. It was a threat that made her wonder how easy it was for him to kill someone. "Killing is one of the things I like to do my dear. I want you to know my likes and dislikes before we get married." "Why don't you kill yourself then. I would be okay to watch you do it." Came jade's words which made her regret why she said all that. "I like this side of you sweetheart. All the women I have slept with did not have courage to say a word that may destroy their lives but, there was this silly woman who got into my nerves and within the next moment she died but I won't tell you how I killed her because you would stop liking me and I don't want that to happen." His words shocked Jade such that she opened her mouth to talk but no words came out. "Don't be shocked milady, because I won't punish you the way I did to that girl. Your punishment will be different and it will start today because of the way you have talked right now. Now go and change that dress. I will be waiting for you here and if you take too much of my time, I will add that to your pending punishment."

That afternoon, the carriage was already prepared for them and the eagerness that jade had jade question herself on why Alvin would not just use his ability to teleport. "Why couldn't we just use your powers, the carriage will take a long time." Jade impatiently asked. "I can't do that for free Jade, if you want us to be there after a few seconds then you have to do what I will tell you once we come back" Jade gave it a thought and since she had planned either to run away or to make up an excuse so that she would be left behind and since she knew that if they would use a carriage she would not have enough time to plan her escape, she decided to agree with what Alvin told her. "Okay your.... Alvin." "It's now settled." He said. And since they both sat on the carriage he held her hand and within a split they were in the alley that led to her home. "How did you know where I live?" She asked out of mere curiosity. "Is it a bad thing for me to know where my future wife lives?" Jade did not say anything because she knew that that conversation would get her into trouble if she indulged herself in it.
A few metres from where they were, she could see two figures of two people and as she looked more closely, she identified them. It was Lydia and Joseph, now that she saw them she felt like she would run and hug her best friend and tell her how everything is not okay so that they could figure a way out but with the king keeping an eye on her, it would be difficult to do that. "Is that the man that you think you like?" He asked so that he could gain her attention which was elsewhere. "I like him a lot, he has a good personality which people like you will never possess." Those words pulled strings of jealousy that Alvin had. He removed his hand from the pocket and grabbed her waist possessively, Jade tried to to move away from him, but the man was strong enough to put her where he wanted. "Let me go Alvin! I don't know about you, but I have a reputation to uphold, please." Even as she tried to reason with him, Alvin did not do what she wanted,instead, he tightened his hold on her. "Let me go!" Though she said those words repeatedly Alvin continued to ignore her which made her irritated with him.
"JADE! It's really you." It was Lydia who called her as she ran towards her while holding the hem of her skirt. Jade also wanted to ran towards her friend but with Alvin who held her tightly she couldn't. "I hate you!" Jade told Alvin while gritting her teeth. She did not want her friend to think that she had any affair with him but that's what Alvin wanted. He wanted to make it clear to everyone that she was taken. "Your friend seems to like me." Alvin said to jade who saw the way Lydia was gawking at Alvin. "Lydia, I'm so glad to see you." Jade got Lydia out of trance. As Alvin let go of her, she hugged her friend tightly. She missed Lydia so much. How have you been? I was so worried about you. I heard that vampires were attacking humans, did they hurt you...." Lydia asked a lot of questions which made Jade laugh. "I'm perfectly fine. There's nothing to worry about."
"She looks more beautiful when she laughs." joseph thought. He had seen a man next to her who held her intimately which made him question himself if he still had a chance.
