Chapter 9: blood for blood!

Alvin sat on the edge of the bed while staring at the girl who had passed out in his arms. Now that he could look at her without any hindrance, he could see the gem that he had found for himself and the thought that someone could take her away from him made his blood boil. Where was she hidden for all those years? Alvin slowly raised his hand and caressed her right cheek which had turned paler because of the cold weather.

After a long time of waiting, Jade's eyes fluttered open and seeing the demon seating on the same bed that she was lying on made her sit upright as fast as she could. "Don't you think it's too late for you to be scared. If I wanted to do anything to you, I would have done it when you fainted in my arms." Alvin said. And seeing jade's eyes widen the side of his lips pulled up into a smug. "Did you kill them?" That was the first question that came out of jade's mouth after she recollected the scenes of the previous night. Though Alvin's facial expressions didn't change, he was surprised that the girl in front of him was worried about the men who could have killed her.

"Do you want me to call them so that they can continue with what they were doing last night?" Alvin sarcastically asked whereby jade shook her head vigorously. "Were you trying to run away from me? because I can assure you that that will never happen Jade." With those words, Alvin lazily got up and walked near the window. It was true that she was trying to run away from him, but instead of that happening, they met again. If she could not have come to Avianna, all this would not have happened.she thought.

As they stayed silently in the room, someone knocked the door whereby Alvin was the one who went to open it. Though Jade tried to crane her neck to see who was at the door, Alvin didn't let her as the door was half open. "Your highness we are set to go." Said the man who was using a very low tone such that jade couldn't hear anything. Though they were in a small hotel, the hotel owner had not recognized Alvin since not many had seen him or any of the royal family members. "Michael, I will talk to the chief alone. You stay here and make sure that the lady inside this room doesn't go anywhere." Alvin said authoritatively. "Your highness, but your safety comes firs....." "Do you think you can protect me? It would take me less than a second to kill you so don't think that if I don't go with you, I'll come back when I'm dead." Alvin interrupted the guard who bowed apologetically.

"If you let that girl escape, count yourself as dead. You hear me?" "Yes your highness." The guard replied and without saying anything to Jade, Alvin closed the door and left.

"I hope he disappears forever." Jade thought out loud and got up so that she could get out of that place . Happy that Alvin had left the door open, Jade turned to the right hallway only to find a bulky man who was heavily armed looking at her. "Madame you cannot leave this place." The man Said with a very serious tone that scared her. Before Jade could say anything, the man had already dragged her inside the room without any effort and locked the door.

"Sir please open the door." Jade shouted while knocking the door as loudly as she could. "Please...I am not some animal for you to lock me up...please...." Her pleas continued with hope that that man some humanity or maybe pity but all that turned into deaf ears. "Please open."She pleaded with teary eyes using the little strength she had because she had not eaten anything since morning.

Giving up, jade slowly knelt on the floor while one of her hands held the door loosely. What did she do to deserve all this? She asked herself as she continued to shed tears uncontrollably.

Alvin stood outside the chief's office while waiting for him to finish talking to a local man who was complaining that his land was grabbed by a rich man. Though the chief promised that he would have the issue settled, Alvin knew that it would never happen because the chief had already been bribed. "Greedy pests." He thought with a sneer.

As the local man left, Alvin got in without knocking the door which irritated the chief.

"You young men don't know the meaning of courtesy eh? You can come tomorrow because I'm about to close the office." The chief said angrily as he closed the files that were on his old desk.

"I don't think that you will see tomorrow chief. Alvin said as he took slow deliberate steps up to where the chief was. When Alvin raised his hand to massage his chin, the chief saw the black inking that was on the man's hand, just below his wrist. It was a drawing of an eagle and the only person who had that black drawing was the king. When realization dawned on him, he fell on his knees and bowed.

"Forgive me my king. I didn't realize that it was you. it's very dark and the candle light is not enough. The chief said as he continued to bow whereby Alvin did not bother to tell him to rise. "What's your name?" Alvin asked as he took the last file that the chief had closed. "Anderson." He replied.

"Why are you going against the rules that have been set? I am a very patient person but when it comes to people who think that they can make better decisions than me, I tend to be very impatient so you better tell the truth because I already know what you have been doing. Just because I have not come here for years doesn't mean I don't know what has been happening." Alvin continued which made the chief to raise his head and look at the king who was waiting for a valid answer.

"I'm really sorry my king, I was forced to do this by the elites. They told me that they would kill my family if I try to go against them." The chief replied as he bowed his head but Alvin heard none of it. "So, you are okay when others are losing their families because of your stupidity? Why couldn't you ask help from the council? Do you think I was born yesterday not to know that you were given some money to do this? Anyway I don't have time to listen to your silly excuses. I came with a rogue vampire who is really thirsty." Alvin said and walked abruptly to the door and opened it so that the rogue that was handcuffed could get in. "Since you have been generous enough to offer the humans as a meal to our kind, I don't think you would mind it if I offered you to this thirsty rogue." Said Alvin and without much effort, he uncuffed the rogue which hurriedly walked to the

chief and sank it's fangs on the chief's neck.

"A soul for soul, blood for blood." Alvin said as he looked at the chief's body which lied lifeless on the floor. Before the rogue could come at him, he quickly unsheathed his sword and slashed it's neck where it also fell on the floor.
