Chapter 12: Chapter 12 - Biolab Spelunker (Part A)
As Kain inserted the keycard into the console nothing happened for a moment until the floor under Kain opened and he fell down to the hole below.
Johnny seeing this immediately tried to get a hold of kain instinctively to prevent him from falling to the abyss below, however he just missed him. The floor then immediately closed back returning to the previous shape of an ordinary floor.
Johnny then used his wrists weapons turning it into a plasma blade. He tried to cut open the floor but to no avail it is useless. The floor resisted the plasma weapon and only left charred mark of where Johnny tried to cut open.
"Goddamn it this floor is made of mythril or what?" Johnny groaned.
"Whatever the case it's impossible for us to chase after Kain through this route." Commented Pathfinder.
"So, what are we gonna do? Kain is new to this, he can't survive on his own!" Continued Johnny.
"Unfortunately, it's going to be a baptism by fire for him. We can't help him right now."
Johnny angrily stomped on the floor while muttered a curse word. As someone who sponsored Kain's initiation as a hunter Johnny felt the feeling of dread inside of him. He was afraid that this going to end like his previous partner. He quite liked Kain even though he acted crude and grumpy all the time.
"What we can do now is push on and hope that we'll be reunited somewhere in the dungeon."
The possibility of that happening is low thought Johnny. What if Kain fell into a pit of spikes? There's no way for him to save himself from something like that. Johnny could only sigh at the situation.
"Alright let's go, but we better search out the place thoroughly."
"That's all we could do, we may also exhausted our free fifty minutes but it can't be helped." Pathfinder said also sighing at the situation.
The two then searched dungeon floor to look for their missing friend. They wanted to scream his name out-loud but they can't in fear of alerting whatever monstrosity that lurked in the dungeon. There is only silence and occasional short talk between the two. The two are on high alert trying to find their missing friend. There is the option of going back and ask for help from the hunters that are waiting outside but the opportunity of an untouched dungeon is too great, it's like letting someone enter a bank vault to get the money even though you're already inside.
They looked through offices, labs, rest area, and other kind of rooms but to no avail there is no kain. They did find several relics that may be valuable. But it's not a through search. Surely they missed the more valuable relics and documents that they might find.
As they moved through a corner pathfinder stopped his stride forcing Johnny to also stop his stride, Pathfinder then took out a small mirror to see through the corner.
"Turrets, two of them. Chance of them still active is high." Said pathfinder who spotted two gun turrets on the ceiling.
"If only Kain were here… But fine no matter, I'll disable them."
"Really? Are you sure?"
"Yeah, now watch this."
Johnny suddenly started to immediately run forward past Pathfinder. As he entered the gun turrets sight. Seeing a moving target enter it's range the gun turret immediately fired upon him. Johnny swayed to the right and left dodging the fire and as he moved closer the plasma blade on his wrist went on. He then jumped and slashed at the turret destroying it and kicked the destroyed turret to the other one, the force of the kick is so hard that it destroyed the other turret.
Johnny then landed on the ground with flair and gave pathfinder a thumbs up signaling that it's alright to move on.
"Man, what a show off." Said pathfinder as he shook his head. "Let's just hope that it doesn't alert anyone or anything that's dangerous."
"Relax." Replied Johnny. "We haven't encountered anything dangerous and I don't think we will at this point. With that in mind I also doubt that Kain also encountered anything dangerous."
"Yeah, let's just hope that's the case." Pathfinder said as he tried to open the door that the turret guarded. "Tch of course it's locked."
"Ehm… Allow me sire." Johnny then moved forward and put his wrist blade to work. He put the plasma blade in between the doors and sliced the lock mechanism open, and then pushed one of the door to the side.
"Oh, how quaint, Let's move out then sir knight." Pathfinder said in a faux posh accent. They then proceeded into the dungeon depth.
They treaded the darkness of the dungeon with a flashlight that is attached to pathfinder's gun and the light from Johnny plasma blade. Even though they already delved into the depth, they still didn't find any sign of life. The rooms that they explored also started to become more and more empty as if there were nothing that is occupying them or has been used before. As they continued their trek they come across a window.
The two of them immediately went to the windows and saw something that they could never thought of.
The window shows a gigantic room that is filled with row and row of test tube.
"Wh-what is this place?" asked Johnny feeling amazed of what they has found.
"I don't know but I can see Tegoths inside some of those test tubes." Answered Pathfinder who squinted his eyes to see more clearly of what's inside the test tubes.
"You can see that far?"
At the center of the room there's a gigantic test tube that for some reason didn't contain anything, it seems like it has been emptied.
"I think this is the main Biolab, let's find a way inside and find some clues." Johnny nodded as he lead the way for both of them. As they went forward they started to hear some chatter that sounds like it was coming from a radio.
Pathfinder and Johnny immediately turned off their source of light and started to take slower step to sneak around. Pathfinder and johnny then peeked around the corner.
Both of them can see that there's a group of people. They are in black armor and in they are equipped with submachineguns. They looked too well equipped to be hunters who usually have an assorted of unique equipment. They appeared to be circling something. As one of the black armored people shifted to the side they could see that there's Kain and a girl Kain is holding up his hands up as if he were giving up.
"That's Kain!"
"Shhh! Be quiet."
"You know who they are Pathfinder?" Asked Johnny in a quite tone.
"They seems to be Imperial Remnant Soldiers."
"Soldier of the past empire? They still exist?!"
"They still exist, and if we don't help Kain right now, then he's gonna get himself executed!"
As they huddled together looking at them the soldiers then aimed their gun at Kain.
