Chapter 123: Sleeping in the same bed

After some time, Alexander returned to the room and opened the door as gently as he could, walking to the bed.

Evangeline, who hadn't gone to sleep yet as her mind was replaying the event in her head and making her think about all the bad things that could have happened to her if she hadn't fought back and Mr. Laurentius hadn't found her, froze in her place when she felt his presence near her.

"Did you eat something?" Alexander asked.

He had seen the room service man placing the food on the door as instructed by the secretary.

"A little," She whispered, and he hummed slowly. 

"How are you holding up?" Alexander asked her in a gentle tone, and tears brimmed Evangeline's eyes. 

How was she holding up? It has been so long since she heard this sentence from a stranger. She hated her body for reacting like that to his words, her eyes for immediately becoming teary at just a simple sentence.
