Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Alex's instincts took over as he waved his wand, manipulating the whole bathroom to do his bidding. The walls, doors and tiles transformed into large sharp spears and one of them shot towards the large smelly troll.

The spears pierced into the troll's thick skin and came out from the other side. Alex looked at the troll that seemed too stunned to move but only a second later, it turned around and let out a loud, painful growl.

"Tch…"

With another wave of his wand, more spears shot into the troll's body and with another wave of his wand, the spears that were lodged inside the toll transformed into spiked spheres, making the wounds bigger and impaling the organs inside.

Hermione saw the troll fall down as its intestines spilled out and the blood splashed on her.

She gagged twice before emptying her stomach fluids. Unfortunately for her, Alex didn't give her the time to do her thing as he dragged her out.

Even after she was out of the washroom, she felt nauseous but all she was able to do was gag as there was nothing else left in her stomach. Helplessly, she let him drag her around as she had no energy to do anything for the moment.

Alex stopped when he got near the fat lady's portrait and looked at Hermione.

"Don't tell anyone about what happened and it will be better if you don't talk to me about it in front of anyone else.

Hermione nodded weakly and Alex left as he ran towards the Ravenclaw common room. Unfortunately for him, Professor Flitwick had spotted him right before he answered the riddle.

"What are you doing outside, Alex?"

'Oh shit… I forgot the disillusionment charm.'

Alex's mind raced for a second before coming to a decision to tell him the half-truth.

"um… professor, I was… well… I found the troll in the girls bathroom. While we were all going to the common room, I heard a scream and decided to check it out.

I found a girl inside and the troll was about to hit her with its club so I … attacked it. It was all instinctual as it felt like if I was even a second late, the girl would've died."

Flitwick simply stared at him for a while before shaking his head, "Luckily it was you. Get back inside and I hope you don't do stupid things like this ever again. If there is time, it is better to inform one of the professors."

"Sorry professor." He said before answering the riddle and walked inside.

He looked at the crowd that was busy with the food and simply walked to his dormitory as he didn't feel like eating anything. He lied on his bed, unable to fall asleep as he stared at the bed on top of his where Aman usually slept. A few minutes later, he took a few books and walked out after using a disillusionment charm on himself.

After dodging all the people in the crowded common room with much effort, he got out and headed straight to the room of requirements where he spent the whole night reading the books and practicing spells.

Time quickly passed and Alex stopped when it was almost morning. He got back to his bed and acted like he was asleep until someone woke up.

Terry, Michael and Anthony seemed to want to stay away from him as they avoided eye contact with both him and Aman. While Aman seemed to be down because of their behaviour, Alex didn't really care as he had more important things and people to deal with such as Neville and potentially Hermione.

The next few days weren't too eventful and Alex used all the extra time to dig into various books. It was Saturday when he was summoned to Flitwick's office.

A small group of people were already inside when he walked in and was told to stand with them. Flitwick placed a pile of books on the table for him to stand before he began speaking.

"Today is the last day of the week and none of you guys have participated in a single duel. The Gryffindors and Slytherins have all done their weekly quota while you guys… you are all a shame to this house.

Theory only takes you so far while actual combat experience will help you in more than one aspect."

The lecture and scolding continued for more than an hour before the sulking students were sent out. Alex could see that his housemates now actually wanted to duel because of Flitwick's words.

He reached the great hall and spotted a group of Hufflepuffs near the game boards and joined them.

The first match would be with anyone they wanted as Flitwick had not yet completed the opponent matcher yet, so Alex simply talked to a second year Ravenclaw girl to duel with him and she gladly accepted.

They had to wait for hours before they got their chance. Both of them inserted a Knut into the hole and a second later, two wooden tokens shot out.

They placed the wooden tokens on the edge of the board and felt their surroundings change.

The battle was one-sided as Alex only used a few charms to annoy the girl before getting hit by a spell that forced his eyelids shut.

After he was blinded, he felt the living hell knocked out of him as the girl wasted no time in punching his ribs. She could feel the pain in her hands but she wanted to win.

Alex could finally open his eyes and the first thing he was the board and the girl who was smiling happily.

"Ah… looks like I lost. Anyways, thank you for the match."

The girl wanted to say something but words didn't come out as Alex was already gone.
