Chapter 128: First day in Korea

[Yuito's POV]

I took a bite of the juicy burger in my hand and made sure to taste every piece of it. There was too much tomato and the bread was too thick.

Then I took the fries and ate it, it was soggy, and there was no crisp that I was looking for. Finally, I took the nugget and ate a piece in one bite, it was okay, you can't go wrong with the meat.

It was times like this that I missed my mother's cooking. Compared to that the food in front of me was true to its name, junk.

While I had my food on one of the empty tables all by myself, I continued looking at Hobin who was standing by the counter. He was nervously rubbing the back of his head while Bomi tried to start a conversation with him.

He looked nervous as if a girl way beyond his league was talking to him, and he would be correct because Bomi really was way out of his league right now.

But what he didn't know was that he had actually met Bomi before and the girl, after stalking him and seeing how good he was, had already fallen in love with him. That's why she started working in this fast-food restaurant in the first place.

To get to know him better and to be close to him.

But Hobin, like all good main characters, did not know that Bomi had feelings for him. She had left obvious clues that hinted at her feelings towards him but the guy refused to acknowledge any of them.

It was adorable watching it all from a distance. But I hated that Hobin was so clueless and dense. No matter how hard Bomi tires, she could never give him enough hints. The only choice was to outright tell him.

"I seriously hate dese characters. How can they miss something so obvious?" I commented and shook my head in exasperation.

For some reason, the Author burst out laughing as if he could not believe what he had just heard.

{This guy really just said that. Hahaha. The audacity and ignorance!!} He laughed and said that as if I had no right to comment on Hobin's denseness.

I was confused, did he imply that I was also a dense guy who couldn't recognize when a girl loves him? Impossible.

Unlike those dense main protagonists, I actually have a girlfriend, two even and I have an intimate relationship with them as well. No way I could be a dense person.

{Whatever you say little diamond.}

'That's not funny.'

{Sorry, black hole.}

I sighed and just continued eating the unattractive meal in front of me. It was just a thing I realised now but the place I am in is called a fast food restaurant and not a fast food store like I first believed.

I thought it was a store because I never considered these, junk food as even real food. Hence the reason I thought they didn't qualify as a restaurant.

But apparently, they are.

{This is lame. I was expecting something to happen when you meet Hobin but...}

'What? Do you expect some kind of exciting plot to happen just because we meet? Sorry bro, this is real life.'

{Hey, do you know where we are exactly in the timeline?}

I paused and thought about it. Hobin was still working here in the restaurant which means it between, right before the start and the beginning of the series.

At one point Hobin stopped working here after he got famous on YouTube and started doing that for a job. So we couldn't be that far from the beginning if we were not already there.

I quickly finished eating and went to Hobin and ordered another meal. Even though the food was subpar, I was hungry after the flight and I had a huge appetite.

By the time I was about to finish my second meal, Hobin's shift finally ended and I watched silently as he left the store after bidding a nervous goodbye to Bomi.

'Welp, there he goes.' I thought to myself and saw him tripping on the door frame because he was looking back too much at Bomi even as he left.

'Nah..Why is he such a loser?'

With an embarrassed face, he quickly got up and ran out. Bomi laughed lovingly as she watched him. Love really does smoothen all flaws of a person in their eyes.

As the main reason I dine in this restaurant went away, I found no reason to stay around anymore so I took my final bites of my food and went to the counter again to speak to Bomi.

{Wait...you aren't think of hitting on her, are you?}

'What? Of course not!?'

{Good, because that would be low, even for your standard.}

'What do you 'mean even for my standard'?'

I paid half attention to the author's comment as I approached Bomi. "Hey uh, excuse me. Pretty lady."

Bomi beamed a bright smile at me, her white rows of perfect teeth displayed in full. "How can I help you mister?" She said with hidden amusement at my bad Korean.

"Sorry to excuse you. I am fresh/new here so I was just thinking if you know a good hotel nearby?" I could speak short phrases correctly but it was a bit hard to do so when I try to say long sentences.

She chuckled and said, "Yeah, I know one but it might be expensive."

"Even gooder." I said.

"My shift is almost over, Wait for me and I will show you, it's not far, and on my way home." She said surprisingly.

I just wanted to talk with her before leaving because it's always fun to interact with characters you read about in your past life. I could just look at Google Maps again to find a hotel.

She was a nice girl, too nice even.  But if she already offered, I will not decline.

I gave her a bow, a Japanese style, "Thank you very much. I would be honored." I said, earning another chuckle from her.

I waited for 4 minutes before she finished changing her uniform and walked together. I have put on my cap and mask to hide myself again and when she asked me why, I told her I attract lots of attention.

"Sorry about that, I am sure they meant no harm." She apologized in their stead. i told her it was fine.

Then as she showed me the way, we had small talks where she asked me what I was doing in Korea and where I am from.

"Oh, you will be fighting in a tournament? You can fight? I thought Japanese people can't?" She said and I couldn't help but be pissed.

Not at her obviously, she meant no offense but I was pissed at the stigma around Japan that we can't fight. i need to erase that soon, I will show the.

"Oh sorry!" She apologized immediately, "It's just that I have a friend who fight for the UFC and he said that Japan are the worst people at the sport."

Okay, that did not help but sure. And the friend she mentioned must be Munseong Kim, the supposedly alpha male in the series.

The hotel was not too far away and after we reached it, Bomi bid me farewell and said it was nice to meet me. I told her the same and she went away.

My eyes involuntarily went to her swaying butt as she leaves. I quickly shook out of my trance.

I couldn't already be this desperate even before a day had fully passed. The incubus race was supposed to be a reward or a gift, but now if felt more like a curse.

{Hey, don't blame me. It's all about the situation. For a pervert asshole, it would be the greatest blessing. Like giving the most delicious food to a beggar and a person who is on a diet. It;s all about the situation and I couldn't help it.} The author defended himself.

'Reasonable.' I shrugged and went into the hotel and booked a nice room for a week.

I took my keys and went to my room by myself as I rejected service. After entering my room, I flopped down on the tidy bed.

But I still could not call it a day. I took out a laptop from my bag and turned it on before I went on a video call with my mother.

After half an hour on the call with my mother, I continued and called Marin and Komi as they had asked.

Finally, after I was done, I put away my luggage and went to the bathroom to clean myself. The hotel was worth the money I paid.

It was no five-star but it was more than I could ask for.

After cleaning myself, I decided to sleep early. Not only because of the exhaustion but also because of the time difference, it was already time to sleep.

And just like that, my first day in Korea ended.

I thought about what kind of future awaits me in this foreign country and about my upcoming fight. Hopefully, my peaceful life will continue.

That's just a hope though.

Because oftentimes, life throws a bitch your way.

Literally

Goodnight.
