2 - Beauveria Mordicana

[A/N: I don't do the cliche beginnings if you know my content and have been reading my works, I honestly hate the cliche prologues so many of my peers use that I honestly can't stand writing them, I mean seriously, you can only read the basic 'I died and some God who is incredibly powerful took a moment of their time to notice me,' or some other similar horse-shit so many times, so, we'll be thrown right into this, enjoy]

My name is John Rowan, and I was having quite the bad day.

How was it bad, you may ask?

Simple, I was no longer 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯, why would I think that, you might ask?

Also simple, I lost all of my senses, and the only one left, was making my day even worse.

That sense being Vision, and what was it showing me?

Countless different places and all of them through different things.

Things? You might ask.

I at first had no idea, but after a few hours when I eventually calmed down, I managed to examine the carriers of my sight.

Note my use of the word 'Carriers.'

My vision was happening through that of monsterous creatures.

These carriers, happened to be something I could faintly recall in my memories about a certain game, specifically, Fallout New Vegas.

They were Spore Carriers.

What did spore carriers look like, you may ask?

Humanoid monsters that were hunched over and moving on all fours, with green, wrinkled skin (reminiscent of a bark) with stiff, leaf-like protrusions on the back, and the hands and feet possess only four digits and no fingernails.

However, that wasn't the most worrying thing about this.

How could the fact that I seemed to be seeing through eyes of these 'Spore Carriers' not be the most worrying thing, you may ask?

Simple, it would be the floating screens in front of my eyes.

You could understand my concern now, right?

If the stories were anything to go by, then this system was somehow 'given' to me, or was intended to enslave me in some manner of way through its uses.

Either way, it raised quite a few concerns.

Did I die? Did something kill me? Was this simply a dream? Or my new reality?

Thankfully, I had a few hours to process this new information and I could only assume that all of this was real, seeing as I found no signs of it being some kind of lucid dream or hallucination.

So, I went over my situation.

I was the 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘢 Spores of Vault 22, which means, if I try hard enough, I should be able to control the Spore Carriers and Spore Plants.

However, I had multiple clear problems.

First, was that I was spread out over three locations.

Vault 22, Zion Valley, and BIg MT.

Second, was that I had no idea what year it was, and I didn't know nearly enough about Fallout to consider safe in this hell hole of a world.

For example, during the events of Fallout New Vegas, there were three factions vying for the area, not even including the player.

The first was the NCR, also known as the New Californian Republic, a corrupt government that arose from the small town of Shady Sands on the west coast and follows the many values of Pre-War America.

The second, was Caesar's Legion, a Roman-like tribal society led by Caesar, it was a society that followed even older values, such as Slavery, a patriarchal society where women's jobs were only to raise kids and menial chores. Not only that, but they were conquers, having conquered something like eighty-seven tribes and seeking to continue west, towards Vegas and the NCR.

And, the last most important faction, was that of Mr. House and New Vegas.

Mr. House is the founder and creator of Robco, a Pre-War business that was incredibly powerful and influential across America, having made many deals with the US government and having a great monopoly over many trades in American society.

The problem is, Vault 22 is just west along the mountains of New Vegas, meaning, if the three factions were to fight over the Mojave Wasteland, I would be caught right in the middle of it.

That was only the problem with one of my so-called 'Colonies.'

The other two were in just as dangerous places.

Zion Valley would become a place of War as a tribe attempting to become vassals of Caesar's Legion would begin fighting the two other tribes that called the Valley home.

The worst, however, was the botanical gardens...which were housed in Big MT.

The problem with that was the same creators of the 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘢, the Think Tank, called Big MT home, and depending on the year, I could be facing the amoral and more than likely 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘦 Think Tank scientists in their home turf, or be facing the scientists that have slowly lost their minds and selves from time and sabotage that were shown in the events of Fallout: New Vegas.

I was a small fish in a sea of predators, and I was not liking my chances...

Especially since there were still countless small fishes in this sea of mine that could take me out without much effort.

So, whether I liked it or not, frankly, the System was probably my only chance at continued survival.

Especially if my...neighbors noticed my intelligence and 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵.

---

Before I even knew it, what felt like a day had passed since my arrival and I finally managed to learn how to control the Spore Carriers and Plants, not that it was very...smooth control.

I will keep practicing until I can manage to move the creatures as well as I could my own body, which will probably take a while, but be more than worth it.

I'd also need to try to control and move multiple at a time, but that's for the future, nothing I can do about it now seeing as I could barely control and move just one of them, let alone a couple.

I also finally decided to check on what the 'Gacha' is and would check out Missions later.

That seemed...generous.

Though it was also concerning. What could be spawned? Would I accidentally summoning something that would threaten my own survival? Something that could end this world? What would happen if I somehow summoned something on the levels of the Flood? Or the Orcs from 40k? It would almost certainly doom the world if spores from either of the species entered the atmosphere.

Would they even have loyalty?

Calming myself down, I eventually began to think.

Why would the system even list it as an option if the summons would lack loyalty?

It wouldn't make sense to include such a thing if it could backfire and kill me so easily.

So, I mentally focused on the words, and something happened.

[A/N: FYI, I did a whole Wheel thing with fifty total options, so these drawings were pretty random]

[Draw One: Nirn Altmer]

[Draw Two: Colony of Twenty Myconoids]

[Draw Three: Three Lesser Weeping Angels]

[Please select the location of summoning: X-22 Botanical Gardens, Zion Valley, or Vault 22]

What...the...fuck?

I don't know what I was expecting, but this was not it.

Especially with the possible Nazi Elf and homicidal statues I was about to summon.

[A/N: If you want to know why I call them Nazi Elves, just watch "The Great War of Tamriel - Why Mer Deserve The Worst" and as an added bonus, watch the same YouTuber's video on Pelinal Whitestrake and why the dude beats every possible entity when it comes to hating elves]

As for the second draw, I had no idea what they were, so, they were the first ones I summoned, selecting Vault 22 as the summon location.

To my surprise, the creatures appeared in the large cavern at the very bottom of the Vault that acted as the 'fifth' floor through a flash of light that momentarily blinded the Spore Carriers I had in the cavern.
