Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Ambushed
"[Wake up]
[WAKE UP]
I woke up to a screen flashing in front of my eyes. I groggily rub my eyes and read the system messages.
"What's happening, Amira?" I ask sluggishly.
[There is movement at the cave's entrance.] Reading that message woke me up so much so that I shot up, willed my sword to appear, and activated [Stealth] all in a matter of a second and now I just wait for it to come inside, and I will ambush it.
Pov: 3rd Person
(Thump)
(Thump)
In a dark cave, the sound of heavy footsteps was heard, but in the same cave, there was a young woman hiding in the shadows, waiting for the perfect chance to strike. But when the woman's eyes landed on the figure, a look of horror dawned on her face.
Pov 1st Person
In front of me was a hulking monstrosity with the height of 8 feet and with bulging muscles. The creature had a long snout that slightly curved upwards and four extremely sharp claws on all four of its legs. It was crawling around, smelling the air every so often. I only had one thought the moment I saw it.
'I can't beat that thing,' Amira, sensing my thoughts, answered.
[That is a highly corrupted mole. Their eyesight is extremely poor, but their sense of smell more than makes up for it. It must have smelled the blood residue.]
I was panicking internally, but I tried to keep my cool and succeeded partially.
[You need to keep your calm. The only thing keeping you alive right now is your [Stealth] skill, and if you don't keep your emotions under control, it will deactivate, and YOU WILL DIE.]
When I read what Amira was saying, my mind went into overdrive, thinking of all the ways this monster would end me. My breathing became haggard, and deep panic set in.
[STOP] Amira's response carried the brightness of the sun. It was like a flashbang going off in front of me, and that worked wonders on my panic-induced mind.
[Listen, you can get out of this. I know you can. Just trust me. I can read your thoughts if you allow me, so do i have permission to intrude into tour thoughts?]
When I finished reading the message, I quickly nodded my head.
'Amira, do you hear me? What do I need to do?'
[Yes, I can hear you. You have two options. One is to drive it away. Its eyesight is poor, but its hearing and sense of smell are extraordinary; hence, you have the advantage with your [Stealth] skill. Use the blood in your inventory and the environment to lead it away or the second option, running away.]
I was indecisive on what to do, I needed more information, so I did the next best thing and asked my walking encyclopedia.
'Amira, what are its highest and lowest stats?'
[Its lowest is its agility, sitting at 23, and the highest is strength, sitting at 146.]
I had to stop myself from gasping at those outrageous numbers. 'Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?'
[Yes, I am sure. The outrageous strength stat is due to it being a highly corrupted being.] Amira answered matter-of-factly; I could just feel it.
'Okey, sorry for doubting you.'
'I have decided I will do the safest option, that is running away.'
[A smart decision.]
'I know how to get out of this mess.'
Pov: 3rd Person
In the same dark cave, a young woman was facing a very muscular mole that had red veins going all through its body. The woman took a deep breath, then put her hand behind her and willed that all the liquid leaves her inventory. The liquid came out as a jet of water hitting the back of the cave. The mole rat screeched and ran towards the back of the cave.
[Boom]
A boom was heard as the mole destroyed the cave wall. The woman got into a running stance, and bones appeared in her hands. She threw them in different directions and started running. With every step she took, she managed to summon more bones and throw them in opposite directions. The mole, clearly confused, jumped at the nearest bone, making a sound.
[Boom]
A boom was heard again, but this time from the sheer weight of the mole, crushing the ground in its wake. By the time the woman managed to make it out of the cave, the mole had jumped five times, and each of those jumps could mean her death, but she managed to make it out.
[Later]
Pov: 1st Person
(Huff)
(Huff)
I have been running for a while now.
The farther away I was from that thing, the better.
"I think I made suffi~cient distances away from ~that thing"
Then the reality hit me; I did it, I survived.
"Huf, I did it! I managed to survive. I really did it. Did you see it, Amira? I really did it. My plan worked."
[Yes, quite the plan. I am happy we get to live another day.] Amira answered with happiness, or I think it was happiness, kind of hard to tell when you're talking to a screen.
"Amara, what now? Our plan failed. Do we try again?"
[Yes, that is the best option.]
"Are you sure we can't go to a village and level from there like in those novels? We go to a starter village and work our way up?"
[Remember, you are a wanted criminal.]
"Yeah, but that is just for the light races. Can't we go to a Beast-Men village? You said I was admired by them?"
[Sigh]
"Did you just sigh?"
[Pay attention because I will only explain this once.]
[Yes, you are right; you are admired by them, but with admiration comes jealousy and greed. If you go to them while you are weak, a couple of things might happen. One, you can be recognized by a slaver and sold to the noble of the opposite faction. Two, you can tell the guards who you are; they will take you to a noble whom you will have to marry to increase the kingdom's morale. Remember, no isn't an option if you have nowhere to go. Three, yo-]
"Okay, I understand. We will find another base. Jeez."
[In this world, might is right, so you must be strong for both of us.]
