Even this Machop is amazing," thought Alex as he looked at the Pokémon, who also seemed to be staring back. "Hi, buddies. From now on, you will be my Pokémon, but if you don't want to, you can choose to go back now," said Alex, attempting to make eye contact, although one of the Pokémon had their eyes closed, making it difficult.
"Abra!" Abra nodded in agreement, consenting to become Alex's Pokémon.
"Machop!" Machop pointed at his arm, implying that if Alex could defeat him in an arm wrestling match, he would become his Pokémon.
"You want me to beat you at arm wrestling?" asked Alex, not surprised that he needed to prove himself. Pokémon have their own pride. Machop nodded.
As they walked away to have their arm wrestling match, the head butler asked, "Sir, if I may ask something?" Austin replied, "Speak." Austin had a hunch about what the butler was going to ask.
"Why did you give him those Pokémon? While they are impressive, they don't compare to the pseudo-legendary starters given to other young masters/misses. I mean, all of them were pseudo-legendary," the head butler thought Alex would receive pseudo-legendary Pokémon, maybe even two.
"They are much more special than the ones I have given to others. They are blessed by legendary Pokémon, and I didn't expect them to choose to follow Alex, as they have even more pride than normal Pokémon," Austin explained. The head butler was startled that not just one but two blessed Pokémon had chosen Alex. Only ten people in the entire history of the Black family had been blessed with Pokémon, and now there were eleven. While the Black family had quite a few blessed Pokémon, they didn't control them, as the blessed Pokémon chose to do whatever they pleased. Since they could become as strong as some of the lesser powerful legendary Pokémon, even the ancient clans avoided offending them or trying to force them, fearing the repercussions when they became too powerful.
"And those aren't the only Pokémon the family will give him," Austin added with a smirk. The head butler was momentarily confused before understanding what Austin meant and chuckled. Alex had requested more Pokémon, and he still had two more birthdays before he began his journey.
Six months later...
It had been six months since Alex acquired his starters. He learned a lot about being a Pokémon trainer while continuing his singing career. Alex's fans were overjoyed to have him back. One important discovery was that there could only be one Pokémon League at a time, and every eight years, there would be a World Championship. Due to the number of missing Pokémon trainers, the carrying limit for Pokémon increased from six to twelve, and it could potentially increase further depending on the situation. Champions, for instance, were exempt from carry limits. In the upcoming World Pokémon Championship, set to begin next year, Alex was invited as a guest singer, and he knew exactly what he was going to perform. "Apollo, show me my status," thought Alex, as he had given the system that name, as Apollo was the God of Light, and in the dark, hellish lab, the system was his only source of light.
