Chapter 2: New beginning and system

It has been almost five years since I was born into the Pokemon world, Alex thought to himself.

"Young Master Alex, it's time for dinner," a maid called out.

"Coming," Alex replied, making his way to the dining room. As he walked, he admired the grandeur of the mansion he lived in. The Blacks, his family, were one of the five ancient families in the Pokemon world, and as the youngest son of the family head, he was well-loved. Unlike the families depicted in novels, there was no family drama to contend with. Servants greeted him as he made his way to a large door.

"Young Master, everyone is waiting for you," a servant said as he opened the door.

Inside, a grand dining table stretched out before him. Seated around it were six people - his father, Austin Black, his mother, Elena Black (who happened to be the elder sister of the White Clan head), his eldest sister, Nora Black, his youngest sister, Elda Black, and his two brothers, Eric and Edward Black.

"Finally, you've arrived, brother. We were waiting for you," Nora said with a warm smile.

"Haha, did I keep you waiting for long?" Alex replied, looking at his oldest sister. Nora was fourteen and would begin her Pokemon journey next year. In this world, the starting age for trainers was fifteen, as the world was more dangerous than depicted in the anime. Thousands of trainers died every year.

"Not at all, brother. Come, let's eat," Elda chimed in. She was eight with white hair and black eyes. Eric, with black hair and gold eyes, sat beside her, while Edward, with white hair and gold eyes, was next to him.

As they all began to eat, Alex couldn't help but wonder if his eldest brother, Andrew, would be present for his birthday. Andrew, the heir to the Black Clan, was seventeen and already a Pokemon trainer.

"Will eldest brother be here for my birthday?" Alex asked their father.

"Yes, since your fifth birthday is in five days, which is a very important milestone, he will be back," his father confirmed. Although the family had many rules, including the celebration of significant birthdays, Alex didn't mind. They were incredibly wealthy and powerful, with the means to buy even the Stone Family. The Blacks were one of the most influential families in the world.

After dinner and spending some time with his family, Alex retired to his room. He looked at himself in the mirror, noticing his pitch-black hair with a few shiny white strands and his golden eyes. He felt like a protagonist straight out of a novel.

"Because you are," a voice suddenly said in his head.

"Huh? Who are you?" Alex asked, surprised.

"I am the Golden Finger Host," the voice replied.

"Golden Finger? Do I have a system?" Alex thought, feeling both excited and apprehensive. He didn't want to become a slave to the system.

"Yes, I am the helpful system. Don't worry, you can reject quests if you don't like them," the system assured him in an emotionless voice.

"That's good to hear. Show me the function," Alex requested.

"There are five function : [Status], [Shop], [Quest], [Collection], and [Challenges]. There may be more function if you complete certain quests," the system explained.

"Okay, show me my status," Alex commanded.

Name: Alex Black

Age: 4

Strength: F (Can't even kill a worm. Weakness disgusts me.)

Agility: F (Turtles are faster than you. Wow, you're slow.)

Endurance: F (Even a kid can knock you out. You're not even strong enough to be called a glass cannon.)

Intelligence: C (Finally, something you're good at.)

Skill: Mid-level piano

Anger surged within Alex as he assessed his abysmal status. "What the fuck? What do you expect from a child?" he thought. He composed himself before asking the system about the other factions.

"In the shop, you can buy items, mostly related to the Pokemon world. With quests, you can earn Collection Points or Challenger Points, which can be used to purchase items in the shop," the system explained, providing a sense of the value of these points.

"[Collection] missions revolve around collecting various things, including Pokemon. [Challenges] are mission that revolve are challenges. They are missions directly given by 'The Collector' and 'The Challenger.' They often provide better rewards," the system further elaborated.

Feeling more hopeful, Alex thought that with this system, everything would be alright.
