"Father, are you back?" Felix asked before entering the main office.
He was told the duke had returned from the palace but wasn't hungry enough to care for dinner. It was several months since his father last appeared in society, so he was curious how the council went.
As his heir, Felix has gone to numerous nobles' gatherings before, but as he wasn't officially duke yet, even those loyal to his father treated him like a child and the decision must have been confirmed with the head of the house first.
It was suffocating as he was always reminded he was only the shadow of his father's power.
He longed for recognition.
"How was the council?" He asked but the duke was absent-minded and didn't respond right away.
The young man knitted his brows. He was not used to such a treatment. The leader of the duchy was a cold and strict person. Even if he couldn't give love, he never neglected his heir.
