Seeing the menacing change in Xia Lihua's expression, Xia Sirong's bravado crumbled. It was replaced by a palpable fear. She began to tremble involuntarily, realizing she might have pushed too far.

Xia Lihua didn't ask a second time. She crossed the room with deliberate steps, her eyes fixed on Xia Sirong with a predatory intensity. She reached out and grabbed her aunt by the neck of her nightgown. The fabric bunched up in her fist. 

Xia Sirong's eyes widened in terror as she felt Xia Lihua's cold fingers tightening around the fabric. "What... what are you doing?"

Ignoring the question, Xia Lihua dragged Xia Sirong out of the room and down the grand staircase.
