Chapter 49: Meet and Greet

I was standing on a grassy field. A green glowing portal swirled to life and began to grow in front of me. From out of the portal, a woman stepped forth. She was beautiful and I knew her name, the god who seeks enlightenment. She smiled as her eyes locked on mine. "Greetings, I would like to see Paun."

I waved my hand. He formed beside me in a flash of orange and red light. Paun glared at her and his grip tightened around the pommel of the greataxe that he always held. I could see his jaw tightening as his teeth grinded together. 

The god who seeks enlightenment stepped towards him and her hand reached up as if to touch his face. Paun's left hand snaked out and deflected her hand to the side. "What - DO YOU - WAANT!?"

She blinked. "I want to say that I am sorry. I should not have betrayed you. You were a good man. I thought that you were stupid, but the one who was stupid was me."

"Do you expect me to forgive you with just that?"
