Chapter 57: NEW HOME AT JOURNEY’S END - PART 2

While Faye was in the middle of her conversation with Tobias, she suddenly realized that the small boy she was holding in her embrace had already fallen asleep. As she sat there, she could hear the muffled sound of his snores filling the void between them.

The carriage moved silently along the dirt road, swaying gently from side to side. Faye held the young child close to her, feeling the softness of his hair on her cheek and the warmth of his body against hers. The cloak they were covered with, belonging to Sterling, emanated a heady scent of leather and iron.

Through the carriage window, the moon behind the clouds cast a gentle glow, and the sound of the wind whining through the pines could be heard occasionally. Holding the sleeping lad, Faye felt a sense of tranquility come over her and she knew that in that moment; she was exactly where she wanted to be. Grateful for the little boy's company.

Faye closed her eyes and eventually fell asleep as well.
