Chapter 54: A Flashback

Heller was stunned. He stared at her with wide eyes and narrowed eyes interchangeably. He was seething with hatred and at the same time, shock.

"Do well to go to where you were going, Heller," a voice came from behind him.

He jerked and looked behind him, only to see Khad standing some distance away from him. Heller's frown deepened as he looked back at Zuri.

"He just saved you."

"You wouldn't have done anything," she said as she walked away and stood beside Khad.

Khad narrowed his eyes at Heller and watched him strut off.

"You have to be careful of that one. He doesn't have good intentions toward anyone…"

"I don't need him to have any intention towards me," Zuri said. "He should just leave me alone. I wonder why he keeps picking on me."

"There are some vampires that particularly hate humans…" Khad said.
