"Even though superheroes can use their abilities as zombies, their intelligence is greatly diminished compared to when they were alive, and their strength is significantly reduced," Steve Rogers said. "When saving Bruce, Tony and Stephen were easily taken down by the Wasp. Given their strength, this would have been impossible when they were alive!"
"When attacking during the journey to Camp Lehigh, it certainly wasn't humans attacking, but zombies," Nick Fury said. "So, among the four options ABCD, at least three of them have turned into zombies."
"So, what we need to do is to identify the person who hasn't turned into a zombie?" Peter Parker asked. "Because they're human, they didn't participate in the attack?"
"No, even if the correct answer is the person who didn't participate in the attack, it doesn't necessarily mean they're human," Nick Fury refuted the speculation. "It's also possible that the zombie in question wasn't along the route to Camp Lehigh and didn't cross paths with you."
"But then there's no way to make a choice." Peter Parker said. "There's simply no clue to analyze."
"Indeed, there's no way to analyze, so we'll have to go with a hunch," Tony Stark told Peter Parker. "General Okoye, the Wasp, and others are absent. Among the characters mentioned in the question, you're the only one here, so you should answer this question."
"Me?" Peter Parker looked somewhat excited. The ability reward for this question was the power to walk on air, something he really wanted.
"Yes, it's you, kid," Steve Rogers said. "The one whom the question is about should be the one to answer."
"If I have to choose..." Peter Parker rested his chin on his hand, mumbling to himself, "Three short and one long choose long, three long and one short choose short, two long and two short choose C."
"Is this an exclusive mnemonic for taking exams at school?" Tony Stark said with a wry smile.
"Of course not, I can answer school questions just fine, but I can't answer this one." Peter Parker chuckled. "When they can't answer a question, it seems like this is how they guess."
"What's the accuracy like?" Tony Stark asked.
"It seems to be pretty high," Peter Parker said.
"So..." Peter Parker looked at the question, hesitating for a moment, "I choose A! Captain America!"
"..." Tony Stark was speechless. "Didn't you say your accuracy was high? Why did you choose A?"
"Among the four options, only Captain America is a super soldier with the strongest strength, so the possibility of him not turning into a zombie is higher than the other three options," Peter Parker explained. "So, I choose Captain America."
[Answer incorrect! One year of lifespan deducted!]
"So, you got it wrong," Tony Stark rubbed Peter Parker's head. "But you're still young, with plenty of lifespan left. Deducting one year isn't a big deal."
"Could it be Falcon?" James Rhodes spoke up. "Although there's Tony turned zombie ahead, Sam can fly, so the probability of him turning into a zombie should be lower than the other three options."
"With Doctor Strange and Iron Man turning into zombies ahead, having strong abilities and the power to fly wouldn't significantly increase their chances of survival," Natasha Romanoff said. "Let's just wait and watch the video."
Soon, the video continued playing. The group of survivors sat in a car, heading towards the central station.
"Even in the face of doomsday, I don't know why, but I'm still the one driving," Happy complained from the driver's seat.
"Is there a problem?" Okoye, sitting in the passenger seat, asked. "Weren't you an Uber driver to begin with?"
"No, I was a private driver. There's a difference," Happy retorted.
At this moment, a massive zombie face suddenly appeared in front of the car. This face was enormous, even bigger than the entire car.
"My goodness, there are zombies this big?" Peter Parker was taken aback in the answer space. "Did a zombie bite someone and make them grow this big, or did a normal person turn into a zombie and then grow this big?"
"Ah!" In the video, Happy was also startled, and he punched a button on the side, causing the van to enlarge and smashing the zombie to pieces.
"It turns out the zombie isn't big, the car just became small," Peter Parker realized.
"If the car became even smaller, as small as an ant, and it was driving on the road, who would even notice it?" Phil Coulson said. "This ability to shrink really comes in handy in a zombie world."
"Why shrink when you can enlarge?" Scott Lang opened up a train of thought. "If it became as big as a mountain and walked through the city, the zombies would be like ants on the ground, easily squashed with a single step."
"That scene would probably be quite exciting to imagine," Peter Parker said with a hint of excitement.
"The Wasp is there too, maybe we'll see her turn into a towering giant and crush zombies like ants," Tony Stark added. "Honestly, I'm looking forward to that scene as well."
While the individuals in the answer space enthusiastically discussed stepping on zombies, the video showed the group of survivors entering the central station.
"Hop, Banner, Parker, head to Line 7 and find a way to start the train," General Okoye of Wakanda instructed, delegating tasks to everyone.
"Sounding like a criminal activity, I'll lend a hand," Scott Lang's buddy Kurt quipped, though at this point, Scott Lang didn't know him yet.
"Splitting up, huh?" Peter Parker began to mock. "Don't you guys have horror movies in Wakanda?"
"We don't need them. We have American reality shows," Okoye continued. "The rest of you stay here and guard the perimeter."
Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, and a few others went to the train's cockpit. There was no power and the gearbox couldn't be opened, so the train didn't appear easy to start.
"I can start the engine from the inside." The Wasp, Hope Van Dyne, shrank and flew into the engine, but after a few attempts, she couldn't ignite it.
"The ignition system won't start, we need someone to give it a push." Hope Van Dyne looked for assistance.
"Perhaps you can summon the green devil from within you," Kurt suggested to Bruce Banner.
"No, he's on vacation," Bruce Banner replied. "Any other ideas?"
"Unless someone has a giant slingshot," Hope Van Dyne said.
"I've got a solution!" Peter Parker suddenly appeared hanging upside down, startling Bruce Banner and Kurt.
"Don't forget to release the brakes!" Peter Parker left this sentence before disappearing.
He was seen outside the train, extending his hands and shooting out two strands of webbing that stuck to the cargo car. He grabbed onto the webbing and started pulling with all his might.
While Spider-Man and his team were trying to start the train, the others patrolled outside the station. Happy and Sharon Carter formed a pair, cautiously walking.
As they walked, Happy felt something behind him and slowly turned his head, seeing a swarm of bats flying towards him.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!" Happy was surprised and quickly shot palm repulsors at the bats while making shooting sounds with his mouth.
He wasn't wearing Tony Stark's armor, only the left arm of the suit.
"Just some birds." After the bats flew away, Happy smiled at Sharon Carter.
"Did you just say 'bang'?" Sharon Carter asked, holding a pistol.
"Did I?" Happy retorted. But before he could finish his sentence, a whooshing sound followed by a thud was heard, an arrow piercing through his shoulder.
The arrow had triangular barbs, and a rope was attached to the arrowhead, dragging Happy into the darkness.
"Someone's injured! Someone's injured! I think that's..." Sharon Carter quickly informed everyone of the situation. However, before she could finish speaking, another arrow shot out from the darkness, hitting her shoulder.
"It must be Clint," Steve Rogers in the answer space said.
"Definitely Clint. There's only one semicolon in town who uses a bow and arrow," Phil Coulson added.
Sure enough, Clint Barton emerged from the darkness.
"It's Hawkeye," Sharon Carter said as she looked at Clint Barton.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Happy emerged from the darkness as well, now a zombie. He was muttering his words from when he was alive.
"Bang..." Happy walked step by step towards Sharon Carter, reaching out his hand, preparing to use his palm repulsors on her.
However, his movements had become sluggish since turning into a zombie. Sharon Carter directly grabbed his hand, redirected the palm repulsor toward him, and fired.
With a bang, Happy took himself out.
Sharon Carter took the repulsor device from Happy's hand and quickly put it on herself before hurrying away.
Sharon Carter encountered Hawkeye, while Bucky Barnes and Okoye faced Falcon, Sam Wilson.
Crash!
A loud noise accompanied the shattering of glass as Sam Wilson flew in with his metal wings, diving towards Okoye.
As the Wakandan General, Okoye's skills were remarkable. With a somersault, she leaped onto Sam Wilson's back. When Sam Wilson tried to fly to the second level, she jumped up to the second level as well.
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat!
Bucky Barnes held a submachine gun and started shooting at Sam Wilson in the air.
However, Sam Wilson was extremely agile, flying around and dodging bullets. He then dove down towards Bucky Barnes, tucked his wings in front of him to shield himself from the bullets, and kicked Bucky Barnes down.
"Ah, ah!" Sam Wilson roared and walked step by step towards the fallen Bucky Barnes.
Before he could get close, Okoye attacked from behind, cleaving downward with her spear and splitting Sam Wilson in half.
"That was your friend, I apologize." Okoye said to Bucky Barnes.
"I should be sad, but I'm not." Bucky Barnes replied.
"Let's go." Okoye turned and walked away.
On the other side, Peter Parker used his webs to pull the train, and the train wheels were slowly starting to roll.
"Alright, everyone, we have about 4,000 pounds of thrust." Peter Parker said as he pulled.
"Hold on, Peter. They're almost here!" Bruce Banner said on the train.
"Okay, get ready to release the brakes on my signal." Peter Parker said. At that moment, a zombie suddenly appeared behind him. However, before the zombie could do anything, a red cape flew in and knocked the zombie away.
"Well done, Cloak!" Bruce Banner couldn't help but praise. But just after he finished speaking, there was another crash as a hand reached in through the broken glass and grabbed Kurt, who was standing nearby.
Naturally, it wasn't a human hand; it was a zombie hand.
The zombies surrounded the train.
Hope Van Dyne immediately shrank down and flew out through the broken window, turning as small as a fly among the flying zombies.
Inside the train, Bruce Banner and Kurt watched as one zombie after another was pulverized, creating a one-sided massacre.
The zombies increased in number, and soon the area was densely packed with them, surrounding the train. Fortunately, at this moment, Bucky Barnes, Sharon Carter, and the others had all arrived and rushed onto the train.
The train roared to life, speeding away and crushing the zombies in front of it.
"Nice look." Inside the train, Hope Van Dyne saw Peter Parker wearing Stephen Strange's cloak and couldn't help but comment.
"Really? Do you think I can pull it off?" Peter Parker asked.
"Maybe when you grow up," Hope Van Dyne said.
In another compartment, Sharon Carter stood by the door, looking out at the scenery. She was about to turn around and leave when she suddenly sensed something.
She raised the repulsor device in her hand, aimed it at the roof, and heard a loud crash as the roof was pierced. A zombie came crashing in, knocking Sharon Carter to the ground.
Sharon Carter was, after all, an elite agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she was completely defenseless against this falling zombie. She was instantly overwhelmed, showing that this zombie was far from ordinary.
"Sharon?" Bucky Barnes heard the commotion from afar and quickly ran to that compartment. He saw a zombie lying on top of Sharon Carter, devouring her.
That zombie, he recognized.
And he knew it very well.
He and that zombie were the best buddies.
Steve Rogers!
"I think you've had enough, Captain," Bucky Barnes said, holding a submachine gun.
In the shadows, Steve Rogers slowly stood up.
His shield was covered in blood.
In the past, he had used that shield to protect people without shedding blood, but now, that shield was stained with the blood of those he had protected.
Steve Rogers charged towards Bucky Barnes, who had transformed into a zombie. Bucky Barnes lifted the submachine gun and started shooting, but even as a zombie, Steve Rogers skillfully held up his shield, blocking all the bullets.
Soon, the two clashed, engaging in a fierce battle of fists and kicks.
Bucky Barnes exerted his dominance and kicked Steve Rogers away after a few rounds.
Sharon Carter also stood up. She lunged at Bucky Barnes to bite him, but he didn't even spare her a glance. He extended his metal arm, grabbed Sharon Carter's head, and casually pushed her aside.
"Bucky!" Hope Van Dyne burst through the door and rushed in. Just as she entered, a gruesome mouth lunged at her. Hope Van Dyne instantly shrunk down, diving into Sharon Carter's mouth.
Sharon Carter's mouth closed, but nothing had been bitten.
Seeing this, Bucky Barnes relaxed and turned back to face Steve Rogers.
Whoosh!
Steve Rogers flicked his hand, sending the shield flying towards Bucky Barnes. Bucky Barnes extended his metal arm and caught the shield firmly.
This scene was eerily similar to the one where he had deflected the shield during the attempt on Nick Fury's life.
Whoosh!
Just like back then, Bucky Barnes skillfully sent the shield back.
During the previous encounter, the shield had knocked Steve Rogers several steps back upon returning.
This time, Steve Rogers suffered an even worse fate. The shield cleaved him in half at the waist!
Crack!
His upper and lower halves fell out of the train door, landing on the tracks.
"Sorry, pal. I guess this is the end for you," Bucky Barnes walked over, removed the shield stuck in the door, and strapped it to his back.
He turned away, leaving Sharon Carter standing there.
But before she could lunge and bite, she exploded into a messy pile of flesh.
It turned out that Hope Van Dyne, who had flown into her mouth, had transformed back to normal size inside her mouth, causing her to burst.
"Guys, I'm covered in Sharon." Hope Van Dyne said somewhat helplessly.
Okoye, Peter Parker, and others also arrived one after another. Bruce Banner, with keen eyes, noticed a small tear on Hope Van Dyne's shoulder, revealing a patch of skin with a gash on it.
Such a small wound would usually be inconsequential, but now it was fatal because Hope Van Dyne was covered in Sharon Carter's mangled flesh.
"Heart rate rising, temperature climbing," they arrived in another compartment, and Bruce Banner gave Hope Van Dyne a quick diagnosis.
"So, we all know what you have to do," Hope Van Dyne said.
"No, we're about to get the cure," Okoye said.
"Can we really take this risk?" Hope Van Dyne asked.
"It's not a risk, it's hope," Peter Parker walked over, "Anyone who's seen a zombie movie knows that's the key to survival. Besides, that's your name, it must mean something."
"Kid, how do you do it?" Hope Van Dyne asked.
"Watch movies?" Peter Parker said nonchalantly, "Movie club."
"No, not that. How do you remain so... optimistic? After everything that's happened?" Hope Van Dyne asked.
"I guess it's kind of like becoming immune through exposure. My parents, Mr. Stark, Uncle Ben, and now Happy is gone too. I've... I've been through a lot," Peter Parker said, "But Aunt May used to say, once said that if we don't keep smiling when they can't smile anymore, we might as well go with them." Peter Parker held Hope Van Dyne's hand, "And they would want us to keep going."
"Guys, bad news." At that moment, Kurt pushed open the door and walked in, "The train is out of fuel."
"How far are we from Camp Lehigh?" Bruce Banner asked.
"The good news is, we're at least closer than before," Kurt was an optimistic guy as well, managing to slip in a bit of humor even at a time like this.
"So, what's the bad news?" Hope Van Dyne asked.
"We have to go through that area," Kurt pointed outside.
Everyone in the vehicle turned their heads to look, and their expressions turned grim. Outside, there was a sea of zombies, densely packed and seemingly endless, stretching as far as the eye could see.
"It looks like we all have to go up there," Bucky Barnes said.
"We can't pass through," Okoye said.
"But you can go over from above," Hope Van Dyne suggested.
All eyes turned to Hope Van Dyne, who stood up. "Listen to me. We all know I'm going to die, right? If I'm going to die anyway, why not let me deal with the mess I've caused?"
"Come on, Hope, it's not your fault," Bruce Banner said.
"I was too obsessed with bringing my mom back," Hope Van Dyne continued, "and never considered what else might come back with her." She turned to Peter Parker, "This all started with me, but you will end it."
Boom, boom, boom!
The zombies outside had started to rush towards the train, causing the train to shake. Just then, the top of the train was pierced, and an enormous giant stood up.
It was none other than Hope Van Dyne, transformed into a colossal figure. She clasped her hands together, holding Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, and others within her grasp.
Lifting one of her long legs, she took a step and crushed a group of zombies beneath her feet.
With the survivors in her palms, she walked step by step through the sea of zombies.
From within Hope Van Dyne's hand, Peter Parker looked down through her fingers. He could see the mass of zombies, and beyond them, a golden sun on the horizon.
The sun was so beautiful.
Hope Van Dyne walked through the crowd of zombies, holding the survivors in her hands. Eventually, she opened her palms and let Peter Parker and the others down.
"Peter," covered in zombies, she said to Peter Parker, "Smile, smile for me, okay?"
In the next moment, she collapsed among the zombies.
The scene darkened, and the video came to an end.
"I've seen many zombie movies, but undoubtedly, this is the most despair-inducing one," Stephen Strange couldn't help but comment, "Even the super welcoming heroes have become zombies. Who else can save them?"
"Stephen, isn't there someone who can synthesize the antidote?" Natasha Romanoff asked, "Peter and the others are on their way to get the cure at Camp Lehigh."
"Do you really believe they can get the antidote so easily once they reach Camp Lehigh?" Stephen Strange countered, "Which zombie movie goes that smoothly?"
"More than that, I'm concerned about the cause of this zombie outbreak," Nick Fury said, "It sounds like it was Hope trying to save her mother that led to this apocalypse?"
