"What? What did you do?" Thor's sudden action left Rocket Raccoon and others stunned. "This is too sudden; you didn't even give a warning before chopping his head off."
"I chopped off his head," Thor replied, looking at Thanos' headless body, and then turned around, walking away with his axe.
Nebula bent down and closed Thanos' eyes, which he hadn't had a chance to close.
The screen darkened, and the video ended.
"I didn't expect that I would be the one to chop off Thanos' head like this," Thor said with a sigh.
Previously, he had believed that he achieved this feat after a fierce battle, which made him quite excited. But watching the video, he realized that the situation was completely different—Thanos didn't resist at all!
Thus, Thor's beheading of Thanos wasn't something extraordinary, as anyone present could have done it.
"An unrivaled overlord of the universe, in the end, reduced to being decapitated and dying in a foreign land," Phil Coulson said, "Although this ending was expected, it still brings a sense of melancholy."
"Since when did you become so sentimental, Coulson?" Nick Fury looked surprised, "A person like Thanos, who murdered so many, even if we tore him to pieces, it wouldn't be enough."
"He killed how many people again?" Stephen Strange said, "Bruce mentioned that Thanos slaughtered trillions of lives! Trillions! What? Trillions?" Stephen Strange suddenly snapped back to reality, "How many people are there on Earth? Thanos killed trillions!"
"We always thought Thanos wanted to exterminate Earth, but now it seems we were wrong. Earth was never Thanos' target; his goal was the entire universe," Steve Rogers said solemnly, "And Earth suffered only because it's part of the universe."
"Thanos himself said 'the universe needed correction,' so there's no doubt about his goal being the universe," Bruce Banner couldn't help but say, "No wonder he wanted to use the Infinity Stones. Even with his tremendous power, trying to eradicate the entire universe was still too much for him."
"The focus of this video should still be on the Infinity Stones," Tony Stark said, speaking up, "Using the Infinity Stones to bring back the dead!"
"Yes, we should have thought of this earlier," Thor said, "Since using the stones can turn everyone to dust, the same power should also be able to restore them from dust."
"At least there's some good news," Nick Fury seemed to let out a sigh of relief, "Even if we fail, there's still a chance to make up for it, just like in the video where we collected the stones again."
"Sorry, was it just me or did everyone else miss an important point?" Scott Lang raised his hand.
"Are you asking about Thanos dying twice?" Peter Parker spoke up.
"Exactly! That's it!" Scott Lang immediately regarded Spider-Man, Peter Parker, as a kindred spirit, "Didn't Thanos die once before? Mr. Stark snapped his fingers, and Thanos and his army turned to dust. But just now, Thor killed him again! This is such an important question, and only a kid like me was curious enough to ask."
"Mr. Lang, I'm not curious; I know the answer," Peter Parker said nonchalantly.
"What? You little rascal know the answer?" Scott Lang looked at Peter Parker, feeling betrayed.
"Didn't you space out while watching the video?" Peter Parker said matter-of-factly, "It's quite obvious. Thanos used the Time Stone to rewind time. It's as simple as that. He succeeded, collected all six Infinity Stones, used the Infinity Gauntlet to snap and kill many in the universe. Then the Avengers and other heroes went to confront Thanos, killed him, and that's what happened in the video just now. Afterward, everyone must have gone back to the past, to the time when Thanos hadn't killed them. At that moment, they killed Thanos, preventing him from killing everyone! That's how they succeeded in saving everyone. That's what Mr. Stark did when he snapped and killed Thanos in the previous video."
"Is that so?" Scott Lang stood there motionless, processing Peter Parker's reasoning.
"Thanos using the Time Stone to travel back in time should be correct, but there's still some doubt about how we managed the time travel," Steve Rogers pointed out a minor issue, "You see, when we found Thanos, he had already destroyed the stones, meaning the Time Stone was gone! Without the Time Stone, how could we have done time travel?"
"Perhaps it's some kind of magic? A kind of time-traveling magic?" Phil Coulson suggested, "Magic is a miraculous power; it seems like there's nothing it can't do."
As soon as magic was mentioned, everyone's attention shifted to Stephen Strange, the bigwig in the magical realm, and a very powerful one at that.
Although Scarlet Witch was also into magic, her fighting style seemed relatively straightforward, and she gained her magical powers through experimentation. When it came to magic, everyone's first thought was Stephen Strange.
After all, Stephen Strange's magic comes from a well-established magical system, and he has a team of sorcerers backing him up. This depth of knowledge is far beyond what someone like Wanda Maximoff, an "accidental" experiment, could compare with.
"Don't all look at me, I know what you're thinking, but honestly, I don't think it's very likely," Stephen Strange shook his head. "In the video, I 'tampered' with time, but I used the power of the Time Stone. I don't think I know the magic to rewind time."
"Maybe, using the Time Stone was convenient, or perhaps the price of using that kind of time magic is too high, or maybe you hadn't learned it at that time," Nick Fury said, looking at Stephen Strange. "You can't assert that you won't learn the spell or magic to travel through time in the future, right?"
"Maybe, it wasn't magic but technology?" Peter Parker enthusiastically suggested, "Time travel using technology, doesn't that make sense? Many movies depict crazy scientists creating time machines and traveling through time."
This time, everyone's gaze turned to Tony Stark. If there was anyone among them who could create a time machine, it was undoubtedly him.
"First of all, I can't make a time machine. Secondly, kid, didn't you grasp the underlying message in what I said earlier?" Tony Stark retorted to Peter Parker.
"The underlying message?" Peter Parker pondered over it carefully.
"I said your reasoning was logical and well-founded, considering that you're still a school kid," Tony Stark looked at Peter Parker, "Did you think I was genuinely praising you?"
"Ah? You weren't praising me?" Peter Parker was taken aback, "Did I say something wrong?"
"For a kid who hasn't completed their education, your reasoning is not bad. But if an adult were to make such a deduction, it would be laughable," Tony Stark scanned the space with a somewhat speechless expression, "Come on, haven't you all been to college? Can't you understand such a simple matter?"
"Tony, are you saying that time travel isn't the answer?" Clint Barton asked, "Was Peter's idea of going back to the past incorrect?"
"Absolutely, it's dead wrong!" Tony Stark replied, "I know you've probably watched many movies, like 'Back to the Future,' where they believe going back to the past and changing it will alter the future. But in reality, it doesn't work like that. Even if you do go back to the past and change something, the future won't be affected. When you travel to the past, that past becomes your new future, and your present becomes the past. So, you see, changing what you think is the past is, in fact, just another way of changing the future. This kind of change doesn't have any impact on events that have already occurred."
"Is that so?" Scott Lang seemed a bit bewildered, feeling like he couldn't fully grasp the concept but thinking it sounded impressive.
"If it's not time travel, then how do you explain Thanos being killed twice?" Nick Fury asked the crucial question.
"Perhaps Thanos came back to life again; who knows?" Tony Stark shrugged.
"That seems more acceptable than time travel. After all, we have a living example right here," Natasha Romanoff glanced at Steve Rogers, "If Captain can 'resurrect,' then it's not surprising if a universal powerhouse like Thanos can do the same."
"It's probably not that simple," Bruce Banner shook his head, "The appearance of two Thanos is undoubtedly due to some other more reasonable reasons. We just have little information right now, and I can't figure it out."
[Sixth question begins, please prepare.]
[Please watch the following video first.]
The scene begins with Nick Fury sitting there.
Just this simple pose made the people in the answering space wide-eyed with surprise because this Nick Fury had both eyes open, completely unharmed! Also, at this moment, Nick Fury had hair, unlike now, where he looked like a light bulb.
An arm reaches over, putting a mask on a yellow-colored kitten.
"It's just a little kitten, not Hannibal Lecter," Nick Fury said, dumbfounded. Did someone really need to put a mask on such a cute little kitten?
The person putting the mask on the cat didn't answer but walked up to Nick Fury. Everyone then noticed that this person had blue skin, clearly not from Earth.
The Kree extended their arm towards Nick Fury, and a light flashed, scanning him, and a voice sounded, "Species: Human male, threat level almost zero."
"That thing is obviously broken," Nick Fury said.
The scene changes, and Nick Fury is inside a spaceship, playing with the orange-colored kitten in his arms, "Really precarious, huh? Yeah, Goo Goo?"
"Meow~" the orange kitten mewed, looking extremely adorable.
"Meow!" But the next moment, the cute orange kitten suddenly extended its claws and scratched Nick Fury's eye.
The scene changes again, and Nick Fury is sitting in a room, a black woman asking him, "What happened to your eye?"
Nick Fury's left eye is tightly closed, and three claw marks are clearly visible. But he confidently replies, "It's healing every second."
The scene changes once more, and Nick Fury is sitting in an office, typing on the keyboard. Unfortunately, the computer screen clearly shows the words "Protector Initiative."
At this moment, Nick Fury's left eye was already covered by an eyepatch. However, unlike the currently imposing black eyepatch, the one he had back then was silver and very crude, simply taped on.
Nick Fury was deeply engrossed in typing when the door suddenly swung open, and Phil Coulson walked in, holding a box. "Glad to see you back, boss," he said as he handed the box to Nick Fury. "This was delivered for you."
Nick Fury opened the box and found various artificial eyes inside, in black, blue, and purple irises.
"So, that story was true?" Phil Coulson stood by the desk and asked, "The Kree destroyed your eye because you refused to hand over the Tesseract?"
"I can neither confirm nor deny that claim," Nick Fury replied.
"I understand," Phil Coulson said, "Unfortunately, we haven't found the Tesseract yet."
"It will show up eventually," Nick Fury turned and glanced at the orange cat lying on the floor.
"I'll let you know when it does," Phil Coulson said, then turned to leave.
"What then?" Nick Fury retorted.
"Sir?" Phil Coulson turned back.
"We have no idea what other interstellar threats exist, and our lone female security officer is currently dealing with problems on the other side of the universe. SHIELD alone is not enough to protect us," Nick Fury said in a deep voice. "We need to find more."
"More weapons?" Phil Coulson asked.
"More heroes," Nick Fury said.
"Do you think we can find others like her?" Phil Coulson inquired.
"We found her even before we started looking for her," Nick Fury said.
"Take a break, sir," Phil Coulson turned to leave, but before he did, he pointed at the box of artificial eyes. "You have an important decision to make."
Nick Fury closed the box of artificial eyes and set it aside. He picked up a document from his desk and flipped through it. In the document, he saw a photo of Carol Danvers standing next to an aircraft, with the words "Captain Carol Danvers, 'Avenger'" written on the fuselage.
Nick Fury stared at the photo for a while, smiled, and then deleted "Protector" from the title "Protector Initiative" on the computer document and retyped "Avenger."
The scene paused, and the question appeared.
[How many people did Nick Fury save with this scratched eye?]
[A. 2 people]
[B. 2000 people]
[C. 20,000 people]
[D. 20 million people]
[Answer correctly, and you'll be rewarded with the "Headshot" ability, allowing you to launch headshots against creatures within your field of vision. Answer incorrectly, and one year of lifespan will be deducted.]
"Fury, I have to say, I've speculated about what happened to your eye in private, but I never imagined it was scratched by a cat!" Tony Stark looked at Nick Fury with extreme speechlessness. "The sacrifice of your eye is truly awe-inspiring and memorable."
"Cats are adorable, I get it, I like petting cats too, like many people do," Stephen Strange also curiously observed Nick Fury, "But having your eye scratched out by a cat is something I've never seen before. You've expanded my imagination. If I were a Hollywood screenwriter, a character like you would definitely lose your eye dramatically in a fierce battle, but I wouldn't dare write something as funny as this."
"Sir, you deceived me," Phil Coulson looked hurt, "For so long, I always thought you lost your eye in a fierce battle."
"Coulson, really? They may not know what happened back then, but you went through it with me. How can you say something like that?" Nick Fury stared at Phil Coulson with wide eyes.
"Sir, I went through it, but I only saw the aliens. I saw that cat," Phil Coulson shrugged, "As for what you said about a Flerken, I'm sorry, but I really didn't see one."
"We all have had ridiculous or even comical past experiences, sir, but you've truly taken it to a new level," Natasha Romanoff couldn't help but smile and speak, "Honestly, I've imagined many things about your eye, and any of them would be more heroic than being scratched by a cat."
"Everyone! I can only say you are all so ignorant. That cat is no ordinary cat! It's a Flerken! A very dangerous creature!" Nick Fury had a deadpan expression on his face, but since he was already black-skinned, no one could tell the change in his complexion.
"Yeah, it's extremely dangerous," Tony Stark chimed in, "It opens its huge mouth, and rats and fish get scared and lose their legs."
"Rats and fish?" Nick Fury shook his head, "Stark, do you know that the Flerken swallowed a large group of aliens in one gulp? Do you know it swallowed the Tesseract whole?"
"What? It swallowed the Tesseract?" Bruce Banner was shocked to hear this. "That thing can even eat the Tesseract? What kind of creature is it?"
"That's one of the most terrifying creatures in the universe, capable of devouring almost anything because their stomachs connect to another dimension," Thor said slowly. "I always thought it was just a legend, but I didn't expect someone actually encountered such a creature."
"See! Even Thor knows about the Flerken! It's definitely not a cat!" Nick Fury gratefully looked at Thor, and his voice unconsciously became louder. "Did you hear that? Thor said it's the most powerful creature in the universe! I got wounded by the claws of the most powerful creature in the universe. That's an honor! Understand?"
"Sir, if that's what you really believe, why did you lie to me about being tortured by the Kree?" Phil Coulson asked, getting to the point.
"...," Nick Fury was taken aback for a moment, then raised his voice, "When did I say I was tortured by the Kree? When you asked me, I only said I couldn't confirm or deny it! I didn't say anything, it's you guys spreading rumors on your own!"
"Fury, actually, I didn't finish my sentence earlier," Thor chimed in again with a smile, "Although the Flerken is ferocious enough to swallow the Tesseract, have you noticed that its behavior and actions are no different from those of a cat? Indeed, the Flerken is a type of cat. So, it's correct to say your eye was scratched by a cat."
"You see, Eggy Head! Your eye was scratched by a cat!" Tony Stark burst into laughter, "You went in circles, but you still couldn't erase this fact."
"I told you, it wasn't scratched by a cat!" Nick Fury's forehead veins bulged.
"Our only god just said that the Flerken is a cat," Tony Stark said.
"Can we stop talking about the cat scratching incident already?" Nick Fury said with a stern tone.
"Fine, let's not bring it up. By the way, I'm really interested in this zero-threat matter of yours," Tony Stark continued laughing louder, "You were in your prime back then, and yet your threat level was zero. That's really embarrassing."
"Yeah, Fury, you were in your prime, and your threat level was zero. That's quite embarrassing," Stephen Strange couldn't help but chime in.
"The machine broke down!" Nick Fury's eye twitched.
"The machine detected your threat as zero, and then it broke down?" Tony Stark retorted, "Are you trying to make me believe that such a coincidence happened?"
"Anyway, it was just a coincidence. Believe it or not!" Nick Fury replied irritably. "Let's get to the question!"
"This question is strange. How does an eye participate in saving people?" Phil Coulson pondered, "If Director Fury's eye had some special ability, then it would make sense, but it doesn't."
"I can't figure it out either. Director Fury's left eye is already blind and has been covered with an eyepatch for a long time. I really can't understand how this eye could participate in saving people," Stephen Strange said.
"Regarding this, I have an idea," seeing everyone's attention finally shift from the cat scratching and the zero threat level, Nick Fury finally breathed a sigh of relief. "My left eye, I must admit, is practically useless, except for one thing."
