Chapter 387: Drawn to Kind People

Celeste shrieked. The rest of the robbers were apprehended by the knights, but Duke Fabian collapsed in front of her. She had never seen this much blood before, so she fell to the ground and trembled. 

She couldn't move even if she wanted to. The knights helped her up, while the other knights carried Duke Fabian to his bedding outside. Celeste, although quivering, offered, "Why don't you bring him inside? It's cold outside."

"Are you sure, My Lady? You might feel uncomfortable–"

"Get him in, please. You can use the bedding. It's alright. My daughter and I will stay outside. It's no bother at all," the duchess said. She tightened the blanket around her shoulder and wrapped another blanket around Celeste.

Celeste smiled. She was proud to have a compassionate mother. Perhaps that was why she was drawn to kind people. Like Lady Yohana.
