Chapter 94: 92
After the interview was over I excused myself taking the unidentified man and woman with me. I doubt that their identities will remain a secret for long though especially since Man-bat is infamous in Gotham. I didn't worry about transportation as Lady Mechanika was already waiting nearby for us and flagged me down. What I didn't expect was for Raven to invite herself to go with me instead of returning to her team. I said nothing as who would say no to having a gorgeous woman come along I know I wouldn't; infact I put myself at risk just to surround myself with gorgeous women.
Raven stared at the nearly naked duo but said nothing if she did recognize them and I didn't volunteer any information either. The entire ride home was pretty awkward for them as I could care less about how they interacted. I got what I wanted two genius scientists that specialize in the biological field more specifically in chimeric integration of animal and human hybridization. Was I concerned about the ethical implications? Of course I wasn't I didn't have ethics to begin with. Why would I start caring about such things now? Ethics? Compassion? All that boiled down to was a simple statement of not having the balls to do what is needed for achieving the goal.
By now you are probably wondering why I have slowly begun recruiting scientists into my company and haven't looked into magic. The answer was extremely simple, my system was called the Sci-fi system not the fantasy system. The best way to maximize results from my system was to recruit scientists. This doesn't mean that I am completely disregarding magic it's just that magic is too esoteric to safely access with definitive control without a teacher. Whereas science has more defined rules even in this universe.
Hopefully once I firmly established my power base in this universe I will begin reaching out to the more supernaturally inclined individuals. That said I had no intention of turning away any magical being that actively sought me out hence why I permitted Raven to come along.
When we arrived at the mansion my new employees were very disturbed seeing the massive amount of gorgeous blondes all sporting the same face. Although they did their best to hide this it was apparent in the Force, their thoughts and actions. As soon as they saw them they immediately began holding each other's hand tightly as their eyes bulged in shock. They were even a bit robotic in their movements with how uncomfortable they were which was ironic since they were walking next to Mechanika. Mechanika ignored their reaction and proceeded to follow us inside. As for Raven if she was bothered by the sight she never let it show not now or last time.
I also noticed Sarah Kinney not too far away using her car I bought for her to pull inside the property. It has been a while since she and her daughter had started living with us. At first she was very reluctant to remain here but over time it seems that she has become comfortable living with us. This was mostly because of Laura didn't want to leave us. Laura hated regular humans for the most part and liked that her mother was under my protection.
Sarah: Julian I heard on the radio that you were involved with a burning building and something about magic?
"It's not important Sarah but I would like to introduce to you some new colleagues who will be working with you and the others at Black Technology"
Laura: They don't smell human
"They're a new species that is human adjacent"
Well shit I didn't expect for Laura to just appear like she did but she was right. Kirk Langstrom and his equally brilliant wife Francine Langstrom weren't technically human anymore but a perfect hybridization of bat and human. They retained their abilities able to shift between forms at will without losing control. This was due to a unique combination of their own transformations, sith alchemy and a heavy dose of the light. As I wasn't an adept hand in sith alchemy I relied heavily on the healing affects of the light powers from destiny as well as Ripper Doc knowledge. I barely had any useful understanding having studied only a bit from the sith holocron.
The curious detail about how although they seemed wary of everyone else they met with exception of Laura. Even when she was up close to both of them and sniffing their scent they just seemed more relaxed for some odd reason. In fact they began sniffing her a little bit and seemed genuinely accepting of Laura in their personal space. Laura herself was somewhat strange in this regard as she wasn't very close to anyone that wasn't her mother yet seemed at ease with them. Even I who saved her wasn't afforded this level of closeness and, what I did have I earned through dedication.
