Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Briefing with Fury
By the time Adam had to return to Earth Peggy Carter, Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova and the widows joined the UNSC.
Peggy regained her youthful appearance as well as becoming a super soldier, she had made quick work of not only Steve but many of the widows as well.
Adam didn't inform them of SHIELD being HYDRA in disguise, he felt the time wasn't right yet but he knew it would be soon.
HYDRA would soon retaliate, or at least try but it would be on Leviathan since he had purposely left clues at the last base to point towards Leviathan being the culprit that took out all their Winter Soldiers they had.
Bucky was still needing psychological treatments since the guilt of his actions, even though he had no control over them, had really done a number on him mentally. Like the widows he remembered all the murders he had done in the name of HYDRA, whole families were killed off by him in ways he couldn't believe he had done. Torturing and killing little children in front of his actual target to cause the most pain possible.
This was how HYDRA operated, through fear. If you betrayed the organization, it wouldn't just be yourself that suffered, your loved ones would suffer that fate while you had to watch. Once all their loved ones had suffered and died then they would be last, they had to go to their grave with the knowledge that their actions made all they love suffer and die cruelly.
The only one who would be joining in on the trip back to Earth was Yelena who was currently wearing her new black 2559 Battle Dress Uniform, or BDU. It was a light weight armor that was highly modular, it allowed the addition of armor depending on needs and situation.
The armor came with a black CH252 helmet which had a holographic tactical eyepiece which provided various benefits such as night vision, thermal vision, target acquisition and tracking along with a HUD and comms.
Peggy had opted to stay since she would need to study space warfare as well as learning the ins and outs of UNSC regulations and protocols, while the widows would all be joining her since they too wanted to study and learn this new battlefield they would be participating in in the future.
Space battles were much more complex than naval or air battles due to zero gravity as well as attacks being able to come from any and all directions since in space there is no up or down.
Upon leaving the ship Yelena was glued to the cockpit window excitedly observing Saturn and its rings.
"This is sooooo cool. Hey sis, I'm a homo spacien now." Yelena looked at Natasha and gave her a victory pose.
Natasha couldn't help but chuckle and answer, "I think Rocketeer suits you better."
"More like Pocket Rocket if you ask me, did you seriously add additional pockets?" Adam said as he shook his head in exasperation at Yelena.
"Okay sure it has a lot of pockets. I use pockets all the time, I even made some modifications of my own, you can put so much stuff into it and you would never know." Yelena said as she began pulling out various items from multiple pockets.
Natasha couldn't help but laugh, she had missed her sister and her playful personality. Her walls could never remain up around Yelena, she always seemed to bring out the best in her, which was why she had planned to quit working with SHIELD and join her sister at Adam's side.
Within the hour the ship had arrived back within the Earth's atmosphere, upon entering, Adam flew the ship down to a remote island in the Bahamas which was the designated meeting place for the meeting with Fury and the rest of his team.
Seeing a Quinjet already there Adam couldn't help but think how the movies didn't show just how paranoid of an individual Fury was. Adam guessed Fury had brought his team early to check for traps or perhaps to set up his own just in case.
Removing the cloaking for the ship Adam set the ship down near the Quinjet, as Adam stood up his suit once again transformed back into its typical look which shocked Yelena since it was the first time she saw the armor's ability to change.
Looking down at her own uniform then back at Adam she asked, "Can I get one of those?"
Adam looked at Yelena and answered, "Just so you know it doesn't have any pockets." This caused Natasha to chuckle at her sister's face.
"That's okay, that suit seems like it can make any number of pockets." Yelena said as she followed Adam off the ship along with the others.
As soon as they stepped out they were met with Fury and the rest of his team. After they exit the ship the three Avengers continued over to Fury's side while Adam stayed and surveyed the rest of Fury's team. He noticed they were all quite vigilant at the moment, he couldn't blame them since he was a big guy in a battle armor that turned him into a one man army.
Yelena stayed vigilant as she too looked over her sister's teammates, she couldn't help but scoff thinking how she could kill just about any of them with ease.
What she didn't know was that the little unassuming guy in the back of the group was the most dangerous of them all. Even Adam was unsure of winning against the Hulk, the only way to beat the Hulk was to knock him out before his strength increased from his anger. There was no killing the Hulk, he would just awaken in an even more rage, and the madder Hulk got the stronger he became.
As the group approached Fury looked at Adam and asked, "Do you mind if I have a few minutes with my team before we talk?" After receiving Adams approval the team walked a little further away to be out of ear shot.
Adam watched as Natasha, Steve and Tony convened with the others, he heard a bunch of obvious coded lines and phrases that assured that they were who they were and not a Skrull impersonator or a fake.
After Fury was satisfied with each of the responses from the three the group spoke briefly, Fury wanted to get as much information from them as possible.
Looking at the three, Fury asked, "Alright, now that we know you are you, what have you gotten from the big guy cause the Council denied any involvement and knowledge of the team and unfortunately I didn't get any signs of deception from them. So I'm hoping you at least got the information."
The three looked at each other and smirked, all three were about to shock the rest of the team but Tony beat the others to it.
Tony then removed his own helmet and spilled what he knew, "He isn't part of the UN that you're thinking One-eye Willie, SPARTAN over there and his crew are from the future. Over 500 years, remember that object we got a glimpse of before it vanished? That is them, they have an army and a space fleet, it was a once in a lifetime experience."
Many of the team thought Tony was joking or trying to fool them but when they looked to Natasha and Steve and saw that they confirmed what Tony said they were shocked.
"So they are from the UN of 2512?" Clint Barton asked skeptically. "Actually they come from the year 2559 to be exact, and just so you know Fury, I wouldn't try anything stupid with this guy. The capabilities of his ship and fleet are beyond our comprehension. Not only is there the big main ship, but within I saw at least 4 large ships docked within and hundreds of military assault ships as well as ground vehicles. They could conquer the Earth in a matter of hours if they wished." Natasha said with a serious tone and expression, this caused all the others to subconsciously look towards the two armored people that patiently waited for them to finish their discussion.
Tony chimed in, "I'll say this, if that ship has even a quarter of the tech that SPARTAN has in his suit, god help us if we piss him off. Speaking of which, I wanted to inform you that I will still consult with you and SHIELD when needed but I am going to formally join SPARTAN and his crew so make sure you don't consult me unless the Earth is in danger. However I doubt that would ever happen now that I will be joining the UNSC. Banner you should come too, that mothership is like a technology amusement park."
Bruce Banner shook his head, "I highly doubt me being in an enclosed container like a ship, especially in space, would be a very good idea at all. Do you know the damage the other guy could do to a ship?" Bruce had always stayed away from trains, planes, subways and boats as much as possible ever since he became the Hulk. He was afraid of losing control and killing everyone else accidentally, Bruce had figured out very quickly that he couldn't die no matter what.
Bruce had tried to commit suicide after the events in Harlem, even though his actions saved many people from dying by the hands of Abomination, he still blamed himself for the deaths since Abomination was made from his own blood. Even though it was General Thunderbolt Ross who turned Emil Blonski, who was a British Special Forces soldier on loan to Ross, into the Abomination by using an experimental super soldier serum. After Hulk defeated Blonski even when he had the serum injected, he literally broke every bone in Blonski's body, Blonski healed extremely fast and after capturing Bruce he forced a scientist who was helping Bruce to inject Bruce's blood into him. He wanted to be the Hulk, however instead of becoming like the Hulk he became an abomination, hence the name.
After that battle and seeing the devastation he had caused, Bruce put a gun into his mouth and tried to end his life for the safety of Earth. After pulling the trigger before the bullet could blow thru his brain he had transformed into the Hulk and spit the bullet out. Once he calmed down, Bruce was fully healed and in perfect health. From that day on Bruce knew that there was no way to get rid of the Hulk.
"Na, you'll be fine. They may be able to help you, think about it Banner, scientists on that ship are over 500 years ahead of your theories. Just a day on that ship casually talking to those guys I have solved many issues with my own technology." Tony responded confidently.
Fury eyed Tony really hard, he wasn't happy that one of the smartest people on his team was jumping ship but he remained calm on the outside and asked, "So are they telling you that they are the Security Council of their time?" Fury asked skeptically.
This time Steve spoke up, "SC doesn't stand for the Security Council, it stands for Space Command which is a military branch of the United Earth Government.
Apparently after a war the UN became the only government over the whole planet."
Tony smiled and added his two cents, "They are basically the future's version of SHIELD but with way cooler uniforms."
Steve finally also came out and said, "Like Tony, I have decided to join the UNSC. Although this Earth isn't their home, yet rather than abandon the Earth and enjoy a life they probably couldn't lead in their own time due to war, they are working to protect the Earth from forces that have bad intentions inside and outside the planet, such as HYDRA, Kree and Skrull whoever they are. Also everyone I care about is on that ship." Steve felt a weight lift from his shoulders after finally telling Fury his wishes.
"What's that supposed to mean Captain." Fury's expression hardened after hearing Steve's comment, there was no way he knew anyone aboard that ship if they really did come from the future, but after hearing Steve talk about the Kree and Skrull which very few people knew about did raise the possibility they could be a force from the future Fury's head.
Steve explained, "Well, after we attacked that base we ran into SPARTAN. After we took down that base he had said he was attacking another HYDRA base, Sergeant Bucky Barnes was at that base and had been brainwashed into a Winter Soldier. After rescuing Bucky and destroying the base we went to his ship to heal Bucky. I also found out that they had recruited Peggy into the UNSC, they gave her some injection which not only healed her she returned to her youth and also became a super soldier. Oh and by the way all the crew are super soldiers so just figured I'd reinforce Nat's suggestion of not pissing them off."
Fury looked at Maria Hill who quickly got on the phone, moments later she hung up and confirmed to the others, "Peggy Carter was transferred to another facility for treatment, all the paperwork checked out so they allowed her pickup."
Fury was at his wits end with this SPARTAN, Fury is losing his team before it even could start, and it seemed this SPARTAN was building a team his own.
