Chapter 3: Emergency

Kim Min-Ho, amidst the remnants of vomit on his lips, Took a step towards the window, peering out as he gazed, Two living corpses, men possessing bodies, feasting on the shattered corpse of a woman.

"I shall rid the world of these undead beings, outside the room. It feels wrong to leave them unvanquished," exclaimed Kim Min-Ho with fervor.

"But it's highly risky, Min-Ho," said Na-Yeon, helpless in her doubt.

"Yes, I am well aware of the danger," replied Kim Min-Ho, resolute in his determination.

"Is it possible for you to stay inside, just in case?" urged Na-Yeon, her gaze piercing into Kim Min-Ho's figure.

"Do not worry, I shall remain steadfast," said Kim Min-Ho, a smile forming on his lips as the door swung open.

Kim Min-Ho, shaken by the trembling presence, The two lifeless corpses, soulless men, lamenting their feast, a piece of the woman's flesh and organs.

"Goodness, the abominations! It sickens me to the core," whispered Kim Min-Ho, suppressing his disgust.

"Woar!" the two undead creatures stared, their gaze fixed on the tested one.

"Danger looms," Kim Min-Ho muttered, his nausea persisting, baseball bat clutched in his hand.

"Woar!" the two undead beings approached, surging towards Kim Min-Ho.

"You wretched corpses! Face your retribution!" shouted Kim Min-Ho, launching his attack at them.

"Thud, thud!" a forceful impact pierced through his head, striking the undead creatures.

Yet they did not fall. Kim Min-Ho swung his kick, thrusting it into the chest of one of them.

"Thunk." A lifeless corpse slumped down.

"Don't underestimate me; the rhythm of baseball flows through my veins, and I'm skilled in martial arts," shouted Kim Min-Ho as he struck the sturdy standing zombie.

"Thunk." The undead body was flung, its arrogance torn apart as it collapsed.

"Hora, hora," Kim Min-Ho exclaimed faintly, delivering resounding blows to the two zombie heads, assaulting the ears.

"Thunk." "Thunk." Inside the house, Na-Yeon trembled in fear, witnessing Kim Min-Ho's display of his expertise in pummeling the two zombies.

"Phew." Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Kim Min-Ho stared at the lifeless corpse lying before him.

"This is what happens when you appear at my doorstep," Kim Min-Ho whispered, glancing at the shattered remains of the two zombie heads caused by his strikes, then suddenly startled.

"Ugh, ugh."

"I'm not used to attacking zombies yet," Kim Min-Ho admitted with a pale face. He wiped the remnants of vomit off his lips before entering the house and carefully locking the door.

"Kim Min-Ho, I'm really worried about you," Na-Yeon whispered, embracing Kim Min-Ho.

Kim Min-Ho was taken aback when Na-Yeon suddenly hugged him and said, "Unni, I am a man, and you are a woman. You shouldn't be hugging me."

"Ah, I'm sorry, Kim Min-Ho," Na-Yeon murmured as she released the embrace. Kim Min-Ho looked at Na-Yeon, who had lowered her head.

"Don't worry too much; I understand how scared you are, Unni." Kim Min-Ho comforted Na-Yeon, gently patting her shoulder before heading towards the bathroom.

In the bathroom, Kim Min-Ho glanced at his special smartphone. He noticed two incoming messages.

"Congratulations, you've exterminated a zombie. Exp +1, coin +10."

"Congratulations, you've exterminated a zombie. Exp +2, coin +20."

"Just need 4 more exp to reach the next level," Kim Min-Ho muttered.

Kim Min-Ho eyed his blood-stained baseball bat and pants.

"I'll let these pants be abandoned, even though I've washed them thoroughly," Kim Min-Ho said with a wry smile as he began to shower.

Not long after, Kim Min-Ho finished his ritual bath and felt restless.

"Forget one thing, is the water I used contaminated?" Kim Min-Ho looked at his wet self and shook his head.

"No matter, what's important is that I've touched the shower." Kim Min-Ho hurriedly dressed up.

"Na-Yeon, is the food ready?" Kim Min-Ho asked.

"It is, would you like to have a taste?" Na-Yeon replied.

"Indeed, though my appetite has vanished, I mustn't let my stomach remain empty. It's necessary to replenish the energy now demanded," Kim Min-Ho answered. Na-Yeon sighed upon hearing Kim Min-Ho's words.

"Na-Yeon, step back!" Kim Min-Ho exclaimed. Na-Yeon was startled by Kim Min-Ho's voice and immediately lowered her body. Kim Min-Ho, with a baseball bat in his hand, saw a cockroach flying above Na-Yeon.

"Slap!" Kim Min-Ho struck the cockroach with tremendous force.

Kim Min-Ho approached the struggling insect, about to fly, and relentlessly slammed it.

"Slap!" "Slap!" Kim Min-Ho kept hitting the cockroach with great enthusiasm. After seeing the cockroach breathe its last breath, Kim Min-Ho felt a surge of relief.

"Ding!" The sound of his phone ringing shattered the silence.

"It must be a message," Kim Min-Ho whispered.

"Kim Min-Ho, are there still more cockroaches?" Na-Yeon shivered at Kim Min-Ho's deadly attack.

"I don't know, go around the house and spread terror to the cockroaches," Kim Min-Ho replied.

"I'll join you, Kim Min-Ho," Na-Yeon affirmed.

"Whatever you say," Kim Min-Ho began inspecting the kitchen.

Ten minutes later, Kim Min-Ho wiped the sweat off his forehead.

"This is the third cockroach I've encountered," Kim Min-Ho saw a bug the size of his hand lying dead on the floor.

"Na-Yeon, don't forget to dispose of the cockroach's body behind the house," Kim Min-Ho said while gazing at Na-Yeon.

"I will do it, Kim Min-Ho," Na-Yeon nodded.

Kim Min-Ho then walked towards his room and glanced at his phone, a smile on his face.

"Congratulations, you have killed a cockroach, +1 experience point, +10 coins."

"Level up, now you have accumulated 4 points."

"Finally, I can feel a new level," Kim Min-Ho observed his status.

Name: Kim Min-Ho

Age: 23 years old

Level: 2

Experience: 0/20

Bravery: 4

Agility: 5

Energy: 3

Stamina: 5

Response: 3

Points: 4

"I need 20 more experience points to reach the next level," Kim Min-Ho looked at the requirements to level up, which required 20 experience points.

"Alright, I will add 1 point to bravery, 1 point to energy, and 2 points to response," Kim Min-Ho said.

"Ah!" Kim Min-Ho felt an electric shock tingling his body.

"Could this be an electric shock?" Kim Min-Ho panicked but was surprised when the electrical surge no longer enveloped his phone.

"Ah, I feel my body changing," Kim Min-Ho checked himself.

"I feel capable of lifting a heavy load of 50 kg," Kim Min-Ho smiled at the sudden change.

"Alright, I'll have a meal first to replenish my energy. It's not impossible for zombies or other mutant creatures to approach this house," Kim Min-Ho whispered with a worried expression.

An hour passed as Kim Min-Ho followed the news from the virtual world.

"The President urges people to stay calm and take shelter at home. The military and police are taking action to address the situation," Kim Min-Ho read the news online.

I doubt whether the military and police can handle this problem. In movies, zombies almost wipe out half the human population in the world," Kim Min-Ho shook his head, recalling the numerous impressive zombie films with heartbreaking endings.

"Knock, knock. Kim Min-Ho, are you inside?" Kim Min-Ho heard someone shouting and knocking on the door. Kim Min-Ho approached the living room and saw Park Dong-Su, someone of the same age, standing at the door.

"Kim Min-Ho, I'm Park Dong-Su. Should I open the door?" Kim Min-Ho asked.

"Wait a moment, let me face it," Kim Min-Ho replied while tightly gripping the baseball bat, then approaching the window. Kim Min-Ho peered outside and saw a man his age. Kim Min-Ho opened the door and met the breathless Park Dong-Su.

"Come in before we talk," Kim Min-Ho said as he observed Park Dong-Su about to speak.

"Alright," Park Dong-Su entered and sat down on a chair.

"Can I start by helping you?" Kim Min-Ho asked.

"I need your help, Kim Min-Ho," Park Dong-Su replied, staring sharply at Kim Min-Ho.

"Speak up, and I'll assist you as long as it doesn't harm myself," Kim Min-Ho responded. Hearing that, Park Dong-Su frowned and said,

"I want you to accompany me in picking up my sister from her school. She informed me that she's trapped in the school's infirmary. Her friends suddenly lost their minds and started attacking each other."

"You know it's very dangerous to go out at this time, right?" Kim Min-Ho looked sharply at Park Dong-Su.

"I'm aware, and I'm willing to pay if you accompany me," Park Dong-Su replied.

"You know, I don't really need money," Kim Min-Ho sighed.

"So what do you want?" Park Dong-Su asked. Kim Min-Ho gazed at Park Dong-Su and spoke.

"I'll go with you, but you owe me."

"Thank you, Kim Min-Ho," Park Dong-Su smiled.

"Let's go quickly. Luckily, there aren't too many zombies around right now," Kim Min-Ho said.

"Okay," Park Dong-Su replied seriously and stepped out of the house.

"Na-Yeon, guard this place while I'm away," said Kim Min-Ho, his gaze fixated on Park Dong-Su.

"Alright, Min-Ho. But be careful," replied Na-Yeon. Kim Min-Ho nodded sincerely.

"Let's go, Min-Ho," Dong-Su's voice echoed from inside the jeep. Kim Min-Ho walked towards the vehicle driven by Dong-Su.

"There's only room for four people in this car," whispered Kim Min-Ho as he sneaked into the vehicle.

"It's fine, we're just going to pick up your younger sibling," exclaimed Dong-Su.

"Wow." Kim Min-Ho and Dong-Su marveled as they saw three zombies approaching.

"Dong-Su, hit them!" shouted Kim Min-Ho.

"I got it," whispered Dong-Su nervously, stepping on the gas pedal and ramming into the three zombies.

"Thump." "Thump."

"Are they dead?" Dong-Su asked, filled with concern.

"Let's just drive past them; we need to reach your sibling as soon as possible," answered Kim Min-Ho.

"Alright." Dong-Su nodded and accelerated.

"It's only been an hour, but there are already so many zombies littering the streets," said Kim Min-Ho, looking on with deep concern as he observed the horde of zombies closing in.

"Even flies, as big as the palm of our hands," added Dong-Su with dread, as dozens of giant flies gathered around lifeless bodies.

"Focus your mind on the steering wheel," Kim Min-Ho stated firmly. Dong-Su nodded, redirecting his attention to the road ahead.

With a heavy heart, Kim Min-Ho witnessed numerous people running, only to be bitten by zombies.

"I don't want to face death like they do."

"Same here," Dong-Su replied with a grim expression.

"How much longer until we reach your sibling's school?" Kim Min-Ho asked.

"Probably around 10 more minutes, as I have to navigate through obstructing vehicles," Dong-Su answered.

"Stay focused on the wheel," whispered Kim Min-Ho with firmness. Dong-Su nodded and refocused his attention on the journey ahead.
