Chapter 159: TTW Chapter 159: Ogre

Cunning moonlight spills onto the rooftop.

Lin Yi leans on the railing, pondering his future course of action.

Thinking about how to persuade the people of Night Raid to break away from the Revolutionary Army, and considering how to completely eradicate the decay of the Empire.

Suddenly, he feels he is embraced from behind. Startled for a moment, a curve forms at the corner of his mouth. Just by the soft touch and the faint fragrance in the air, he knows who it is.

"Sheele, you're still not asleep," Lin Yi slowly says.

If you haven't read the original story, you might have wild thoughts. But knowing Sheele's personality, you'd know it's not about romantic love.

"I feel like you're troubled. Does this make you feel better?" Sheele softly asks.

"Thank you," Lin Yi turns around, looking at somewhat absent-minded Sheele, recalling the scenes from where she tragically dies. He reaches out to stroke her hair.

This time, with him here, he won't allow it to happen.

"Very much your style, Sheele. But doing this could give people the wrong idea," Lin Yi says with a smile.

"Really?" Sheele mutters in confusion, seemingly not understanding.

"But I'm happy that I've found something where I can help others." Sheele's personality is like this; she joined Night Raid because she believes their work helps people and saves the country.

Lin Yi isn't sure how to explain the matters of men and women to this girl. Just as he hesitates, he sees the girl in his arms yawn, drowsy, and then she leans on his chest and falls asleep.

This girl really has no sense of caution.

Lin Yi sighs, admiring Sheele's flawless face. She has the figure of a mature woman but the innocent, pitiable character that's incredibly attractive to men.

"Isn't this a test for me?" Lin Yi mutters, sighing as he picks up Sheele and places her on the bed.

He is left with no choice but to sleep on the floor for the night.

The next day, Night Raid's rare two-day holiday ends, and they receive a new assassination mission.

Imperial Guard Captain, Ogre.

Originally, the plan was to have Leone and her team distract the other guards, lead Ogre to the ambush site, and then encircle and kill him.

However, Lin Yi clearly had no intention of following this plan. This was a good opportunity to prove his strength to the Night Raid.

Strength is the manifestation of authority.

On the bustling streets, a squad of guards was training. Leading them was Ogre, a burly figure clad in silver armor, striding with an imposing aura.

Lin Yi appeared on the rooftop of a tall building. From here, he could see the squad of guards below. In his hands, he held Jörmungandr, which had transformed into a long knife, ancient and mysterious.

"Who's there?"

Ogre, who was patrolling, felt a killing intent and abruptly looked up.

Before he could react, over a dozen flashes of light whizzed by at high speed.

The guards were pierced through by sharp feathers, their armor torn to shreds like tofu.

The surrounding merchants and residents screamed and scattered.

Survivors quickly sounded the alarm, filling the street with a piercing sound.

"Heh, you're from Night Raid?"

Ogre grinned, eyeing Lin Yi with excitement. He pulled out a large battle axe from his back.

Lin Yi had no intention of joking with the dead. Flames representing high temperatures ignited on his blade.

He jumped from the building, landing lightly, and shot forward.

Ogre's question went unanswered, his face darkening.

Gearing up with creaking noises, he lunged forward.

"Clang!"

The sound of metal clashing was deafening.

Ogre smiled triumphantly. He was not an ordinary person to be the captain of the Imperial Guard, but this was the first time he had seen Lin Yi's face clearly.

Young and handsome, but he didn't like his indifferent eyes.

Both figures diverged.

Ogre assessed his weapon, turning back towards Lin Yi as if facing a great enemy.

If he killed Lin Yi, it would be a great achievement... Just as he was fantasizing, a subtle noise caught his attention.

Confused, he saw his axe split into two.

"Ah!"

Ogre coughed up blood, reaching shakily for his neck, where a red line flashed and blood spurted out.

His life waned as he clutched his neck in vain, trying to stop the bleeding.

The crowd was stunned, unable to believe that the captain of the Imperial Guard had been defeated in one move.

Cheers erupted.

Ogre had long been a menace, and his death brought immense joy.

Lin Yi put away his weapon, uninterested in such an opponent.

But this was his first battle with Night Raid, so he had taken it somewhat seriously.

"How dare you!"

Just as Lin Yi was about to leave, a roar sounded. His eyes brightened, interest piqued.

A bigger fish had been lured out.

A man fell from the sky with a roar, landing with a loud noise and raising dust.

A burly figure in heavy armor.

It was hard not to recognize him: General Budo, the highest commander of the Imperial Army.

If it was just about military power, he was even above Esdeath.

General Budo glanced at the lifeless Ogre, anger flaring. Night Raid, who had only dared to act in secret, now dared to assassinate the capital's leaders in broad daylight.

This was a slap to his face.

"Looking for death!"

General Budo snorted. His right hand clenched, and electric arcs visibly formed around his arm.
