Chapter 70: TTW Chapter 70: Takatsuki Sen
When they entered, Lin Yi immediately noticed the girl. She possessed a sweet and lovely appearance, with a petite figure and glasses. However, what caught his attention the most was her striking dark green hair.
It was astonishing to see that the notorious one-eyed owl was, in fact, such an adorable girl.
"Investigator Lin, these individuals are from the XX News Agency. This is the boss, and this is the chief editor..." Li Xun introduced them.
Lin Yi stood up and warmly greeted them.
Both the boss and the chief editor of the news agency couldn't believe their eyes. They had utilized numerous connections to secure this interview because Lin Yi had become a national idol. In the world of ghouls, investigators were the ones admired and pursued by the entire nation in life-or-death situations, while stars and singers were simply admired by the public. Whenever Lin Yi's name appeared in the news or newspapers, it would instantly capture maximum attention.
Eto, also known as Sen Takatsuki, introduced herself humbly. She had pleaded with the chief editor for a long time for the opportunity to accompany them on this trip because she wanted material for her new novel.
"Miss Sen Takatsuki, I read your novels a long time ago, and they are some of my favorites."
Lin Yi warmly shook hands with Sen Takatsuki.
Everyone understood why Lin Yi's attitude had transformed so drastically. He was a fan of Miss Takatsuki's novels, and rightfully so, as she was a renowned novelist.
The boss of the news agency began with some formalities, and Lin Yi casually responded while the chief editor conducted the interview.
Takatsuki remained quiet after exchanging a few pleasantries with Lin Yi. She listened attentively and occasionally took notes with pen and paper.
The morning flew by, and the interview finally concluded.
As everyone bid their farewells, Lin Yi spoke up.
"Miss Takatsuki, your novels have always captivated me. I wonder if we could discuss them sometime. The ideas within them are bold and innovative, and I genuinely enjoy them."
No one was surprised, as Lin Yi had expressed admiration for Takatsuki from the very beginning.
Sen Takatsuki happily agreed.
As everyone departed, Takatsuki remained alone in Lin Yi's office. Lin Yi poured two cups of hot tea and handed one to her.
"Thank you."
Takatsuki accepted the hot tea, took a small sip, and then placed it down.
"Mr. Lin, I'm surprised that you've read my works as well."
"Investigators are also human beings, and we need leisure activities. After each mission, I spend some time reading novels. It's one of my hobbies."
After exchanging a few more words, they became like familiar friends. Takatsuki seemed at ease.
"Haha, I didn't expect Mr. Lin to be so interesting."
Takatsuki chuckled a few times. "It's completely different from what people say about the Black Reaper."
"Do people say things about me?" Lin Yi shrugged. "I heard you're here to gather material?"
"Yes, I'm planning to write a new book with investigators and ghouls as the main focus. By the way, Mr. Lin, would you mind answering a few questions? It would help me generate more ideas. But don't worry, they won't be difficult questions."
Takatsuki smiled.
"As long as it's not about the CCG, I can answer. I'm happy to have a friend like you, Miss Takatsuki."
Lin Yi took a sip of hot tea and replied.
"Well then..." Takatsuki paused. "Mr. Lin, do you believe that humans and ghouls can coexist peacefully?"
Lin Yi feigned surprise and almost choked on his tea. "Miss Takatsuki, you certainly know how to surprise people."
"But it's an intriguing question. Can humans and ghouls live together harmoniously? From my perspective, there's only one possibility."
"Oh?" Takatsuki seemed interested.
"Regardless of whether through gentle or forceful means, ghoul society and human society will always be distinct. The predator and prey dynamic is established by the need for survival. No matter how hunters are suppressed, as long as they remain hungry, they will need to hunt for sustenance."
Lin Yi's tone turned serious, his voice deeper than before. The atmosphere seemed to have shifted, but neither of them acknowledged it. They understood each other.
"To achieve true peace, we must first solve the issue of food for ghouls. If artificial alternatives can replace human flesh, it would require someone..."
"It would require someone with absolute influence and control over both humans and ghouls."
Takatsuki interjected, completing Lin Yi's thought. But upon saying that, she appeared excited and elated, quickly jotting something down.
"Wow, Mr. Lin, your inspiration is astounding. This is a brilliant idea, and I already have a general outline for my next novel."
It seemed as though they had entered their own realm of fantasy.
"Actually, it doesn't have to be so complex. As long as there are two individuals—one in control of the human side and the other in control of the ghoul side—with the same vision, this approach could also work, right?"
Takatsuki paused her writing.
"Your initial idea was good, but it's too narrow. Even if they can coexist peacefully, humans and ghouls are different races. Even with artificial substitutes, would all ghouls be willing to relinquish their sense of superiority?"
Takatsuki countered. Unfazed, Lin Yi patted his forehead and explained to Takatsuki.
"Miss Takatsuki, you may not be aware, but many ghouls kill not out of necessity but because they derive pleasure from it."
"So the usual gentle methods won't be effective. As long as they remain uncontrollable..."
"There's no way to achieve peace."
Takatsuki Sen responded.
