Chapter 66: Free time goes to movie time
After 5 days...
Vishal completed most of the work within the 5 days because he didn't have to sleep or rest. Due to that the company operations went much faster. On the 5th day he called Carla to his mansion, where they decided to have a movie time in the evening.
The bell rang and Vishal opened the door and Carla was wearing a jeans with pink shirt. "Welcome Carla." said Vishal and invited her inside.
She smiled and entered the mansion. "I am glad we are getting some movie time together. Nowadays it has been hectic as hell." said Carla holding her head.
"This is a transition phase, so it will be tough for sometime. I want to leave my work aside and I want to spend some time with you." said Vishal.
"Quite a flattery." said Carla.
"I aim to please the girl I love." said Vishal.
"We've talked about this Vishal. You need to wait few more months for that." said Carla tracing her index finger on his cheek.
"You're a vixen aren't you." said Vishal sighing.
Carla chuckled at him acting miserable.
Both of them entered the living room where there is a big TV with speakers.
"By the way how's your mother doing?" asked Vishal.
"She's great. After you cured her she has been going on jogs in the morning and having some fun time with the neighborhood ladies which sometimes get noisy" replied Carla.
"Heh. That's better. Gotham has changed. It used to be gloomy, miserable and dark. Every corner of the city used to feel like a murder zone at that time but now it feels like it underwent an unbelievable transformation." said Vishal.
"True. Even the attitudes of people have changed. I lost my purse a week ago and I received a call the very next day from the Police station to collect my purse." said Carla sitting on the sofa.
Vishal was not showing it but he is feeling a sense of pride inside as he switched on the TV and sat beside Carla.
Carla moved towards him and leaned her head on his shoulder which he welcomed happily. Carla asked to put on a drama she liked in the recent times. Vishal obliged and connected the pen drive to the TV and chose the movie.
Both of them just kept watching the movie without any interruption. Vishal smiled from time to time whenever he felt it was humorous. The peace and happiness he did not feel in his previous life he is experiencing it with the girl he loves.
Since things are going to blow out of proportion during Injustice, he decided to cherish every moment with her. Carla was excitingly seeing the movie and for Vishal it looked like a little child enjoying a movie for first time.
Seeing that reactions made him realize how important she is to him. He put his right hand on her left hand and gripped it tight. She looked at him and hugged him tight. He embraced her hug and both of them continued watching the movie.
"I want moments like these with you even after you find the second one." said Carla.
"We will have more moments like these in time. This I can promise." said Vishal.
He had one more reason to thank the system and the Supreme being for giving him another chance like this. His eyes became wet due to tears of happiness. He has been so focused on his task that his time with Carla and his talks with father Ravindra were the things that made his life different from previous life.
"You deserve a happy life host. You are carrying the burden of saving many universes from Liark. Only with the emotional support from those dear to you will you be able to continue on with your mission.
It has been non stop roller coaster ride for you during all this time. The small moments like these are what make your life beautiful to live." said the system.
"Haha. Thanks. I intend to have such moments more in the future." said Vishal.
Vishal made some popcorn after 2 hours where they switched to a fantasy movie in another channel.
"Have you been going out in Phantasm outfit?" asked Vishal.
"Not that much. But I do patrol from time to time. I had some encounters with Nightwing and Red Robin recently. I escaped narrowly from their grasp." said Carla.
Vishal felt uneasy hearing those words. Carla looked at his uncomfortable expression and replied "Don't worry. I will steer clear of them for sometime."
Vishal nodded and said "I won't stop you Carla. I can understand that past can be pretty harsh and it won't let go of the pain that easily. You can give up on it whenever you feel like it."
Carla had a smug face and she came near his ear and said "When are you going to give up "Mr.Vigilante"".
Vishal was a bit surprised but he was not completely shocked. "When did you know about it?" asked Vishal.
"When you decided to stay in Metropolis for taking out villains in both Metropolis and Central city." said Carla.
Vishal smiled and said "I should've known you are going to find it out."
Carla replied "I saw you sneaking out of the pent house. What do you expect?"
"Ouch." said Vishal.
"Tell me. Did you take up this mantle because of your mother and sister?" asked Carla.
"That's half right. To tell you the full truth you need to make a magical oath not to reveal it to anyone." said Vishal.
"Oooh. I like magic. Will you teach me?" asked Carla excitedly.
"I can but to answer question before will you take the oath?" asked Vishal.
Carla started thinking after seeing him serious. She understood that something serious is going to happen for Vishal to emphasize those words strictly.
"I bet there is a role for me to play in all this right?" asked Carla.
"Yes. I can only tell you after taking the oath." said Vishal.
"Very well. I will take the oath." said Carla without hesitation anymore.
Vishal opened his hand and a paper appeared with oath on it which says the truths she will hear cannot be disclosed to others. Vishal asked her to put a drop of blood on it as signature. She did it by biting her thumb and put the blood.
Vishal made the paper disappear and put his index finger on Carla's forehead and showed the future of Liark that system showed to him. When it was finished she was covered in sweat. He did not disclose details of system or supreme being to her but only about Liark.
"What...What was that?" she asked panting for breathe.
"That's a future waiting for us and I am the only one who knows about it and trying to change it." said Vishal.
Vishal gave her water to drink and she gulped it down in one go.
"You should inform this to the Justice League so that this wouldn't come to pass." said Carla.
Vishal smiled and said "If I were to do that earth would be wiped out even faster than before because many uncertain factors might come into play because the mystery of fate is the way it branches. At present I can only arrange the events as chess pieces to bring a favorable outcome to earth and the universe itself."
Vishal is reminded how he needs to let things play like "Avengers Endgame" where Dr. Strange made the things to occur in such a way that most favorable outcome occurs. He still gets goosebumps when Dr. Strange showed "one" during their battle with Thanos.
Carla went silent for a while and Vishal waited and allowed her to digest such a shocking information. After 2 minutes she responded "Let me help you."
"Are you sure? You're going to become a biggest enemy of two factions in the future." said Vishal.
"I am not afraid of them. They are the ones that will be responsible for the predicament. I can't allow you to carry this burden alone." said Carla determined.
Vishal nodded in acknowledgement. Carla was more angry that he kept carrying such weight without telling her.
"We can talk about those things later. I don't want to spoil the mood anymore." said Vishal.
Carla agreed and they happily spent watching TV. He prepared a separate room for her to sleep during the night and made his way to his room and slept.
