Chapter 162: A victory that comes gradually

The thunder roared through the land, continuous and unending, rumbling incessantly, but it wasn't the sound of thunderclouds. It was the aftermath of a battle involving a few individuals.

Happy looked at the dazzling battlefield from afar, a hint of astonishment crossing his mind. He murmured to himself, "Indeed, getting involved in these monsters' fights is out of the question."

"But with Calvin, Elucia, and Mira there, they can win against any opponent!" he added, deeply gazing before flying away without turning back.

The downpour continued relentlessly. The rain's refraction made anything a bit farther away blurry, yet Happy still recognized the way back to the camp.

On his way, Happy couldn't help but feel proud. He had accomplished in a short time what neither Charle nor Pantherlily could achieve. Although the task was merely escorting Elucia to the battlefield.

As he neared the camp, Happy's mood suddenly turned anxious. Natsu had sustained serious injuries from the earlier battle, and he wondered how the healing was progressing.

Soon, the camp appeared before Happy, but the situation seemed a bit dire.

For some unknown reason, a magnificent tower stood on the ground. A young man with glasses, wearing a smug expression, laughed wildly while Felid and Bickslow were in a distressed state, bound to the tower's walls.

"Ahahaha! Tower of the Gods, consume the sorrow of these foolish fairies and return them to the dust!" the man with glasses exclaimed.

Upon seeing this scene, Happy instinctively descended from the sky. His previously swollen forehead made another contact with the enemy's occiput.

This sudden impact prompted a scream from Rasterlos. Happy's headbutt seemed to have become more skilled from a previous experience.

The tower manifested by Rasterlos instantly turned to foam and vanished. The captives were liberated.

"Well done, Happy!" Felid exclaimed, gripping the yet unsheathed Western Sword. With Bickslow's push, she rapidly charged toward Rasterlos.

In mid-air, Felid had already prepared the magic she was about to use—a dark script representing 'destruction.'

Startled, Rasterlos forgot about Happy attacking him and quickly evaded. But thanks to Felid's haste, she directly charged at him without invoking 'wings,' preventing him from maneuvering in the air.

At that moment, a massive burst of crimson flames erupted from behind him, engulfing Rasterlos's figure.

His cries echoed loudly, gradually diminishing until they vanished altogether after a while.

As the flames subsided, a charred figure lay where Rasterlos had stood, incapacitated and unable to fight.

However, no one paid attention to his fate. All eyes were fixed on the person who unleashed the flames.

"Natsu!" Happy immediately leaped into Natsu's embrace, excitedly exclaiming, "You're okay! Do you know? I just completed the task that Mira entrusted to me…"

Chirping excitedly, the words kept pouring out of Happy's mouth. Others who witnessed this couldn't help but smile.

Natsu patted Happy's head, giving him an encouraging smile. "Good job, Happy."

With Natsu's praise, Happy proudly puffed up his chest, as if parading around. However, he quickly appeared a bit downcast.

"Oh, why isn't Charle here at this time?"

After Natsu praised Happy, his gaze turned sharp. He scanned all the injured people once before making eye contact with Wendy and nodding.

After pondering for a moment, he then looked in the direction of the magical fluctuation and spoke resolutely.

"I'm going to defeat Hades! Happy, let's go!"

Wendy promptly added, "Mr. Natsu, I'm coming too!"

Natsu nodded in agreement.

At this moment, Happy seemed a bit apprehensive. "Um, I feel like getting involved in those monsters' fight might cost me my life in an instant."

Everyone fell silent at his words. Happy was right. With the three strongest S-Class Mages from Fairy Tail, what kind of enemy couldn't they defeat?

"Happy's right. There are five terrifying monsters there. Just by our standards, we'd only be a hindrance," Gray's voice echoed from above. Everyone looked up to see Charle and Pantherlily flying over with a few people in their arms. Pantherlily had resumed his original large form, carrying two people, while Charle was holding Gray.

Gray was covered in wounds, particularly a large gash on his abdomen, frozen by ice blocks. His face was extremely pale, indicating severe blood loss.

The other two individuals were Cana and Lucy, both appearing heavily injured but still conscious.

After Charle and Pantherlily rested for a while, they planned to fly out again to find Elucia, but Elucia had already been taken away by Happy, making it impossible to locate her. Nevertheless, their efforts weren't in vain as they found Gray, battered and bruised, and brought him back along with the others.

"Five people? Aside from Calvin, them, and Hades, who else is there?" Lisanna asked, surprised.

The two cats placed the injured people down, and Gray sat on the ground, speaking in a deep voice.

"There's also Laxus; I'm not sure when he arrived."

This statement immediately thrilled three individuals, namely the Thunder God Tribe.

"Laxus? You said Laxus is here?" Felid exclaimed excitedly, and Bickslow wore an eager expression. Although Evergreen was still lying on the ground, her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Yeah, otherwise, where do you think that dense thunder was coming from?" Gray said nonchalantly, glancing at Pantherlily, who remained unfazed.

However, Gray was well aware that the large cat with a robust physique was exceptionally sensitive to thunderous sounds.

"Now, there are only two enemies left, besides Hades, one is fighting with Gildarts," Cana interjected.

"That means we're down to one, then?" Natsu chuckled upon hearing this. Everyone seemed to accept this as a matter of fact.

After all, it was Gildarts.

"In that case, let's patiently await our victory! Honestly, although it's regrettable, at this point, we don't have much to do," Gray said with a bitter smile.

As they mentioned, the battle had reached a stage where everything depended on the ongoing struggle of the few S-Class Mages.

Gildarts and Bluenote were evenly matched, each movement exuding immense magical power, with gravity magic and crushing magic displaying their ferocity.

As for the battle with Hades, it was even more intense. Calvin in his strongest mode, Requip mage Mira, the Fairy Queen, and the Dragon Slayer's Thunder of Annihilation—these four went all out, causing a cataclysmic uproar.

Hades couldn't even summon his Earth Demon; under the combined assault of the four, he could only continuously cast his Heavenly Light Magic Formation, each individual releasing their magic hysterically, holding nothing back.

This war was about to come to an end.
