Chapter 2: The corpse eater
Disregarding all the negative thoughts, gem eventually moved the truck into the mountain. The road of the mountain was extremely bad. It wasn't maintained for a long time so there were a lot of ditches along the road. The edges of the road had been occupied by green plants. Giving it a more natural and wild appearance, somewhere a human shouldn't belong.
In the silent atmosphere of the night, the sound of the vehicle moving at a fast pace could be heard, other than the sound of the vehicle there was absolute silence in the surroundings with no wild animals or insects present.
During all this gem was extremely nervous with his back drenched in sweat. He was extremely wary about his surrounding. There was pitch-black darkness in his surrounding, except the front which was illuminated with the yellow lights of the truck. The front light only illuminated a small number of trees making way for dark patches everywhere else, making him scared to not let his eyes drift in random directions as if there was something hidden in the unknown darkness. In this dark and cold atmosphere, he had been driving the truck for almost an hour.
As he climbed to the top of the mountain without any accidents he was starting to calm down. But just as he was about to get comfortable regarding his situation. He abruptly stopped the truck. Unknowingly he had reached the dead end of the road. There was a deep cliff with no end in sight, and there was pitch-black darkness everywhere he could see.
Faced with the predicament he tried to search for a solution. He dove into his memories and eventually guessed his surrounding. This place was quite famous as there was a lot of life lost in this exact spot. The name "the corpse eater' was also famous due to this exact spot. The cliff was like a gaping mouth in the mountain giving it an eerie look.
During the moment he slowly began to remember a lot of details regarding the place. There was supposed to be a right turn just a hundred meters behind him. Due to the place having trees all around it was quite hard to notice the path in the dark.
Realizing the situation he quickly decided to move his truck backward. But he soon came to realize that it was quite a daunting task. The only way to move backward was by watching through the side mirror. Just the idea of watching behind in the quite eerie night with only a minuscule amount of light, from the red backlight, which wasn't exactly optimal gave him goosebumps.
After a while of thinking and still being unable to find any other better alternative, he eventually hardened his will and decided to move backward. Slowly he moved his head laterally and observed the mirror while moving the truck backward.
As the truck was slowly moving backward gem fixed his vision on the side mirror. He felt a shadowy present next to his seat. Faced with this unexpected situation, he quickly turned his head and saw an unknown man covered in a veil of darkness, with only his face to see.
The unknown passenger had an amused smile as he saw Gem looking at him.
Gem suddenly got the creeps looking at the man. He moved his left hand hastily to intercept any sudden movement from the unknown man beside him.
While doing so he unexpectedly pressed the accelerator causing the truck to crash in a tree located at the side of the road.
Due to the sudden shock from the crash, his body jolted, causing him to crash his head into the window.
Shrugging off the slight dizziness, he quickly accessed his situation, searching for the unknown person. There was no one in the truck. He was all alone in the quiet darkness of the night. Just as he was getting confused regarding his situation.
He quickly discovered a problem. The lights of the truck started to fluctuate. Creating a situation even scarier.
So, quickly responding to the situation he was in he decided to bring out his smartphone, to use the flashlight.
Just as he was about to take out his smartphone it fell on the floor. He soon realized that his hands were shivering and thus unable to function properly.
Forcing himself to stay calm and steadying his hand once more he bent down slightly to pick his phone up. After moving his hand around the floor to find his phone for a while. He found something that he believed was his phone.
Being certain about finding his phone. He was about to pull his hand up. Just then an extremely cold and slimy hand grabbed his wrist seemingly out of nowhere.
