Chapter 3: 03. Camila Rose

Albert quickly left the room, and Lucius didn't waste any more time. He turned back to his mission notes.

Suddenly, he heard a creak at the door. Without even looking up, Lucius spoke, "Ah, Albert-"

But Lucius didn't even get to finish his sentence before he froze up.

The person who had entered his room at this time definitely wasn't Albert.

Looking up, Lucius saw what he could only describe, for lack of better words, as a breathtaking beauty.

Clear skin without even the slightest blemish, raven-black hair that ran down to her shoulders, and perhaps most strikingly of all, a pair of purple eyes that seemed to shine like amethysts.

She wore a professional black suit that hugged her body, accentuating her curves and explosive figure to the point that it made Lucius's throat dry.

Despite trying his best to stay focused, Lucius felt himself being drawn towards her more 'prominent' features.

That's just how dangerous the body of this woman in front of him was.

If Lucius's guess was correct, then this beauty could be none other than his personal maid, Camila.

Although she was called a maid in the book, she never really addressed herself or acted as one. It would be more accurate to call her Lucius's personal secretary.

Originally, she was just one of the many orphan children adopted by the revolutionary army. During her training, she showed exceptional abilities in infiltration and assassination and was thus promoted to missions and tasks until she rose to the position of personal secretary of Lucius, the head of the revolutionary army.

Her conviction and loyalty to the revolution were never in doubt since she was one of the adopted children of the revolution. She had been heavily indoctrinated and brainwashed to hate all nobles and the empire to the core of her being.

One couldn't forget that although these revolutionary guys are disgusted by the class divide and constantly scream slogans like 'Free the people' or 'Equality for all!', they were definitely not the good guys.

Committing war crimes was as easy as ordering breakfast for these madmen, so anyone who thought they were the true heroes of the story was either confused or just as brainwashed as they were!

Eventually, Camila would come to her senses after Lucius falls into utter lunacy and unleashes swarms of demons on the civilian population.

With the help of the protagonist, she overcomes her prejudice and hatred and becomes a vital player in bringing down and destroying the revolutionary army.

Naturally befitting any beauty in a harem novel, she eventually starts to develop feelings for the protagonist and is unceremoniously incorporated into his harem.

It was as Lucius was having these thoughts and secretly cursing the protagonist for keeping a collection of beauties all to himself that he suddenly heard a sound:

[Ding!]

Surprised by the sudden appearance of the strange system in front of him, Lucius rubbed his eyes.

But after confirming it was still there, he knew he definitely wasn't dreaming.

This… such a strange thing could only be the work of that wretched god.

As if reading his mind the second Lucius finished those thoughts, a set of text popped up on the system screen:

[Hello and welcome to the Heroine Capture System! A virgin like you will need all the help you can get to even stand a chance in winning over the hearts of the heroines.]

Reading this made the veins on Lucius's forehead pop, but what made him even angrier was that the words on the screen weren't even wrong!

[By interacting with the heroines and completing important events related to them, you can gain Love Points (LP). LP can be used in the system store to buy all sorts of items and talents that can help you win the hearts of the heroines so work hard!!!]

After reading this, Lucius couldn't contain his curiosity and started to really look through the system shop:

[Talents] [Skills] [Items] [Weapons]

<Instance Inducer 100 LP>: A virgin like you will need god-level assistance, a tool to induce classical rom-com scenarios.<Charming Scent> 1000 LP: Allows you to smell like the preferred scent of the heroine on any occasion, an all-purpose perfume.<My hero~> 50,000 LP: A one-time use skill card that triples all abilities when used in front of any heroine.

Looking at the shop, Lucius felt conflicted.

Although he remained unrepentant about the fact that the god who sent him here was a complete bastard, the system and shop he sent him didn't seem so bad.

Some of the items almost seemed comical. If used correctly, they should be rather useful.

But these Love Points... they didn't seem easy to get.

Just as Lucius was thinking this, he heard a slight ding in his head as a set of text appeared before his eyes:

[Steal a kiss from the heroine's lips - 500 LP]

Seeing this, Lucius nearly fell over!

What sort of bastard did this god take him for?! Did he really think he was some type of pervert?

He wasn't some debaucherous young master, and the girl in front of him wasn't some helpless maid that could only give in either.

This cold beauty wasn't someone to be taken lightly. If he dared to treat her like some maid and pounce on her, it would only be a matter of seconds before she slit his neck.

"Young Leader, is something the matter?"

The sudden words of Camila quickly snapped Lucius out of his thoughts.

"Young Leader, you've been staring at my face for a while now, so I was wondering if something was the matter?" asked Camila, tilting her head to the side.

"Cough! No, there's no problem," replied Lucius.

"As you should know, my memory is a little foggy, so I may seem a bit odd at times."

As Lucius said this, another set of text popped up before him:

[Ask the heroine to allow you to cop a feel - 700 LP]

Seeing this, Lucius's mouth twitched. This bastard! At this point, he wasn't even testing his morals; he was setting a trap for his life!

"Young Leader, are you okay?" asked Camila.

It was only after hearing Camila's voice that Lucius came back to his senses. He realized that with his sudden silence and strange expressions, he must look like an utter lunatic.

"...Ah, I'm fine, Camila, and you don't have to call me young leader. It's weird hearing someone my age call me that."

Albert looked like the traditional assistant-butler type, so he didn't find it weird. But hearing it from someone old enough to be his classmate was still a little weird.

"Young Leader, I can stop calling you like this if you'd like, but you were the one who asked to be called this in the first place."

"Did I? How come?" asked Lucius, now a little curious.

"You wanted to be called like this because you said calling each other by name would allow us to get too familiar. We are nothing but colleagues working towards the same goal, so any interpersonal connection should be kept to a minimum."

Lucius was a little surprised.

He didn't know much about the original Lucius's character.

Lucius always put up a mask when he was in the academy and interacting with other characters. By the time you found out his real identity, he ended up going crazy shortly after.

He didn't know how Lucius had acted before, but he couldn't continue acting like a stuck-up revolutionary; besides, his memory was gone so he had plausible deniability to act however he wanted.

Smiling, Lucius soon spoke.

"Well, Camila, even if I said that before, since you and Uncle Albert are the only people I can remember right now, you must have been closer to me than I originally thought, so it doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with calling each other by our names, right?"

Camila looked at Lucius, blinking a few times before a slight smile appeared on her face.

"Right... I guess it's not so bad."

It was a pitiful increase in affinity, rising by just one point, but that one point was still a start. At least with this step, he could start moving forward in his efforts to survive in this damned world...
