Chapter 262: Chapter 262: The Agreement

"You really took me for a fool," Albert couldn't help but laugh after reading the letter from Montague Flinch.

In the letter, Montague informed him that he had found the fur of the swamp salamander but needed a whopping 20 Galleons for it.

Twenty Galleons, expensive?

If he had to say, it wasn't excessively expensive, but Albert found it laughable that Montague Flinch expected him to pay twenty Galleons for a piece of swamp salamander fur.

Was the guy driven by greed? Or was he simply testing Albert's intelligence?

Regardless, that fellow was indeed greedy to an exasperating degree!

Albert did consider developing Montague Flinch as a supplier of raw materials, as some things could only be obtained through the black market. However, that didn't mean he was willing to be taken advantage of.

Albert didn't mind letting Montague Flinch make a small profit, achieving a mutual benefit. After all, merchants were creatures who pursued money. But if he was foolish enough to not realize even this, then there was little more to discuss!

Albert wrote a letter to Montague Flinch straightforwardly, telling him to reconsider the pricing. If it wasn't suitable, there was no point in further negotiations.

He had many things to attend to and didn't plan to waste time on Montague Flinch. If that guy wasn't up to the task, Albert could easily find another Montague, be it Montague Stew or Montague Gus.

Of course, Albert wasn't afraid of being deceived. The Focus Sight could discern whether the other party was lying to him. This was his confidence. As long as he had the power, some things were quite simple.

"Shela, could you take care of this?" Albert patted the owl's head. "You need to be more active, don't get as fat as Tom. What if you can't fly?"

Albert didn't mind having another chubby owl, but he still needed an owl that could help deliver his letters.

Shela grabbed the envelope, spread her wings, and took off. Before leaving, she let out a disgruntled chirp, as if protesting that Albert was accusing her of gaining weight.

She was certainly a diligent owl.

There was no help for it; Albert received a lot of mail... Well, it was true that he had gotten stronger during the Christmas break...

Albert closed the window again, placing the pen back into the pen holder. He went downstairs, where Nia was busy with her holiday homework. Children often left their homework for the last moment to complete. Beside her, Tom was quietly sprawled on a hot water bag cushion, lazily stretching his limbs, looking just like a little old man.

"Tom, if you keep this up, you'll really get too fat to move!" Albert lifted Tom and jostled him a couple of times, then turned to Nia, who was working on her homework. "Besides the regular meals, don't give Tom any more snacks."

"Oh," Nia's gaze remained on her homework as she suddenly looked up and asked, "How do I solve this problem?"

Tom plopped onto Nia's workbook, his plump body instantly covering the pages.

"Don't let Tom disrupt you," Nia put Tom next to Albert and handed over her workbook.

"For the ones you don't know, leave them for now, and I'll help you later," Albert flipped Tom over, rubbed his belly—soft and warm, a cat's body temperature was higher than a human's.

Then, after Albert fetched himself and Nia some drinks and glanced over the contents of her notebook, he found that there were quite a few problems Nia didn't understand.

Was this her way of slacking off?

Or was she planning to use this to test him?

"Have you decided what you want to do in the future?" Albert moved Tom away from his teacup, so he wouldn't accidentally drink a strange concoction laced with cat hair later on.

"No," Nia shook her head.

"If you don't have anything particular in mind, come and help me!" Albert thought for a moment and said.

"Help you with what?" Nia curiously looked up, setting aside her pen and no longer playing with Tom.

"Manage money or certain things," Albert replied without hesitation.

"Do you have money?" Nia raised her hand and poked the chubby part of Tom's belly, reminding him, "Or are you planning to give me your pocket money? That's not a bad idea."

"I will have in the future," Albert was quite confident. Could a wizard really be lacking in money?

"Well, that's no problem," Nia pondered for a moment. She wasn't sure if she understood completely, but she nodded in agreement.

"However, you need to study first, set yourself a small goal, get into a good school, and learn the necessary economics knowledge. So you don't end up making me lose money." Albert pointed to the problems in her workbook. "Now, take it back and think about how to solve these. Don't bother me if you still don't understand."

"I'm not a kid anymore. Do you have to coddle me like this?" Nia grabbed Tom's tail, gently playing with it, and even slightly poked the belly, looking slightly disgruntled.

"I'm not lying to you. When have I ever lied to you?" Albert retorted.

"Do you want me to list examples one by one?" Nia raised an eyebrow.

"No need, just know that I haven't lied to you."

"Hmph." Nia snorted lightly, expressing her dissatisfaction. Suddenly, she asked, "Are you planning to live here in the future?"

"On both sides. However, there seem to be some restrictions among wizards. I'll take the time to study it later and see if I can find any legal loopholes."

"Wizards seem pretty foolish," Nia muttered, "Magic is so convenient, why is the wizarding civilization so backward? It's already the 20th century."

"That's the downside of magic. Magical civilizations usually develop slowly," Albert thought for a moment and gave his perspective, "Wizards have a slower pace of life, much like our Tom."

As he spoke, Albert even gestured towards Tom, who had climbed back onto the cushion to continue lounging.

"Of course, the small wizarding population is another reason. If we weren't always advancing, I would even suspect that wizarding civilization might be stuck in the Middle Ages." Albert self-deprecatingly said. While wizards were making progress, their pace was much slower compared to Muggles.

"How do you plan to make money in the future?" Nia knew Albert was very capable. Since he mentioned that he would need her help in managing money in the future, then he must be planning to have money.

"Directly steal it?"

"Not quite. I can't reveal this for now. Magic is very convenient. If wizards have no moral boundaries, making money would be easy." Albert winked, "And don't guess recklessly. We won't do anything illegal."

"Also, you should consider how to improve yourself first."

In truth, Albert was just talking. He hoped to give his younger sister a goal, so she wouldn't waste her great talents.

As for whether Nia would help him in the future or not, it didn't really matter.
