Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Charms Class

Around 8:30 in the morning, Albert's three roommates stumbled into the Great Hall, still half-asleep.

"Good morning!" Lee Jordan sat next to Albert, stuffing a mouthful of sausage into his mouth. He mumbled, "I feel like my legs are going to break."

"It's not as dramatic as you make it sound!" Albert closed his book, "Nineteenth-Century Spell Selection," and put it back in his bag. He reached out and patted Lee's shoulder, "You just overexerted yourself. How about I take you to the infirmary and have them give you some medicine?"

"Forget it!" As soon as Lee heard the word "infirmary," he slumped, afraid that Albert would actually drag him there.

The twin brothers sitting next to Lee couldn't help but laugh. Fred, eating a golden fried egg, suggested, "I'll tell you... slap your legs hard a few times. It can greatly relieve the soreness."

George added, "I can help you, for free."

"You guys aren't human!" Lee glared at the twins discontentedly and started to eat his breakfast on his own.

"Stop fooling around and eat quickly. The first class is about to start, and I don't want to be late on the first day of school." Albert reminded them.

While they were eating, a tall, red-haired man approached and sat down next to the twins. He smiled and asked, "Charlie, are you still used to school life?"

"Charlie, the Quidditch team is starting practice so early in the morning?" George looked at him incredulously.

"It's just a warm-up, considering we haven't touched the Quaffle for a whole summer," Charlie said matter-of-factly. "This year, we must win the Quidditch Cup."

Hearing this, Albert couldn't help but shake his head, "Young man, you're still too young. Don't you know that setting unrealistic goals will lead to disappointment?"

"Oh, Charlie, is the team still short of players? Can we join the Gryffindor Quidditch team? George and I can be Beaters, you know our skills," Fred said.

"Forget about it, you've just started school. You can only join the Quidditch team in your second year," Charlie said sternly. "If you pass the assessment next semester, I'll allow you to join the team. But not this semester."

"There are always exceptions, right?" The twins winked at their older brother and continued, "First-year students can also join, as long as they show outstanding performance in Quidditch."

"Who said that?" Charlie Weasley asked with a hint of annoyance. Even though he was the Quidditch team captain, he couldn't be too reckless.

After all, the Quidditch captain was responsible for all Gryffindor students. Losing a match was one thing, but losing miserably out of selfishness would definitely make him unable to hold his head up in the school.

The twins suddenly looked at Albert in unison.

"What are you looking at me for?" Albert asked, puzzled.

Charlie followed the twins' gaze and looked at Albert, becoming even more confused, not knowing what these mischievous guys were up to.

"The player selection ended yesterday, so you can try to join the team next year. Well, this year you can be substitutes as Beaters, but don't expect to play in matches," Charlie Weasley coughed lightly, indicating that he wouldn't show any favoritism in this matter.

In reality, the Beaters in the team would graduate next year, so it would be a good idea to train replacements in advance. Charlie was also aware of George and Fred's skills, knowing that they had a better foundation than others.

"Can we also participate in training?" The excitement in the twins' eyes couldn't be concealed.

"Today... Are you free this afternoon?" Charlie thought for a moment and said, "This afternoon, let's see... Meet me at the Quidditch pitch at 4:30 PM. I'll assess you first, and no mischief allowed."

"We know." The twins nodded in unison.

Before the bell for class rang, the group hurriedly left the Great Hall and went to the Charms classroom on the fourth floor. Since they had visited once before two days ago, the four of them easily found the Charms classroom this time.

The Gryffindor students had Charms class together with the Hufflepuffs. When they entered the classroom, many students were already there.

Sana and Angelina had also arrived early and were chatting with others at the front desk.

The good seats in the front row of the classroom were already taken, so the four of them had to randomly choose seats in the back row. Albert didn't mind and sat with Lee Jordan, while the Weasley twins sat next to them.

Professor Flitwick entered the classroom as the second bell rang. This Charms professor was surprisingly small in stature, possessing some part of his rumored fairy ancestry.

Due to his height, Professor Flitwick had to stand on a stack of books to reach the lectern, but no one minded or laughed at his small stature.

Of course, everyone was somewhat curious about the professor's height.

Before starting the class, Professor Flitwick took out the class register and began calling out names, giving Albert a sense of the immediate attendance taking during his university days.

In the first lesson of Charms, the diminutive professor demonstrated the wonders of spells. He made several books on the table happily jump and tap dance, higher and higher, forming a row in front of everyone, accompanied by a certain rhythm. It was as if they were dancing to a beautiful piece of music, which was the only thing missing.

As everyone's attention was captivated by the dancing books in mid-air, the books returned to their original positions, neatly landing back on the desk in front of Professor Flitwick.

Warm applause followed immediately, and the students were all fascinated by this magical scene, eager to start learning charms right away.

"To achieve this level, you need to learn a lot more," Professor Flitwick said after the applause died down. "Now, open your textbooks to page three. You need to grasp the theory of spells first, which will help you better understand and use spells in the future."

For the majority of the remaining time, Professor Flitwick focused on explaining the theory of spells. After making the students take copious notes on complex and intricate details, he emphasized multiple times the importance of wand movements and correct pronunciation of incantations.

While Albert was diligently taking notes, he felt Lee Jordan nudging him with his elbow a few times.

"What's up?" Albert turned his head, asking in a low voice.

Lee Jordan pointed to the twins at the adjacent desk, who were gesturing towards Albert's quill.

Needless to say, Albert understood what they meant.

Those two guys had actually forgotten to bring their quills to class. It was truly unbelievable.

Albert placed his own quill on the desk and quietly recited the Duplication Charm.

"Give me one too, while you're at it," Lee Jordan scratched the back of his head and said.

"You didn't bring one either. Why didn't you say so earlier?"

Lee Jordan chuckled, "I didn't want to disturb you while you were taking notes. Just lend me a copy once you're done."

Not only did Albert twitch his mouth, but even Angelina and Alicia in front of them stared at them with strange looks.

Of course, Professor Flitwick at the front of the classroom also noticed, but he didn't say much and continued explaining parts of the spell theory that were not covered in the textbook.
