Saiko Nori, Ian Slav, and Kelly Lang were all level 3 mages.
Being sword magic wielders was another similar attribute they had but it stopped there.
In one corner of the pedestal, Kelly conjured her sword, which was thin and nimble as she performed an incantation. But the sword could not be underestimated. In brief seconds, it began to radiate bluish-white light and it slowly expanded in size.
"The Ice Meadow!" One spectator from the audience subconsciously shouted.
"Myrna!" The lady beside that spectator scolded her seatmate, who was also her colleague in her team.
"Cindy, I was just surprised." The lady named Myrna used her charm to pacify her friend. Both girls were Ian Slav's teammates in the Cheetahs.
"It's okay. You're not the only one though. Do you think she ascended to mage level 4? I feel her aura become more powerful." Myrna's friend started with her observation.
"That actually made me surprised. The last time we had a spar with their team, we were almost even," the lady mage, garbed in a typical green robe, responded with an incredulous expression.
"But Ian is not one to easily lose. That guy may have an ice-cold disposition. But surprisingly, he is wielding a fire sword." As Cindy described her teammate, on the pedestal, Ian Slav already prepared his sword which transformed into a red flame sword. He swung his sword downward to release a fire mana that transmuted the area around him into lava.
"The Lava Sword absolutely lives up to its name," Myrna muttered in a soft voice as she was enthralled by the change of the pedestal. "Look there! There's a screen!"
"Yes! Mr. Sigmund is really mysterious. How can they install that screen over the light barrier at that side?" Cindy was stupefied as she commented.
"Indeed. It's marvelous! Sig seems…" Another of their teammates joined the conversation. Bryan was too flabbergasted to finish his comment.
On the pedestal, the area around Ian Slav was surrounded by lava as it expanded its radius outward, intending to reach his opponents.
Meanwhile, Kelly Lang stopped the momentum when her sword emitted a cold icy aura that made her area filled with blocks of ice. She jumped high on one of the crystal ice blocks to stand atop.
As Kelly and Ian were preparing their attacks, Saiko's zone on the pedestal was surprisingly calm. Though there was an emission of aura, there was no flamboyant display of magic power.
As Saiko was gazing at Kelly and then Ian, closely observing them, he slowly released a smirk. In one swift move, he arrived at the blocks of ice, he swung his sword to the side and put a strike at the blocks of ice. It resulted in the immediate destruction of the ice blocks, turning them into pieces of ice granules.
Kelly was momentarily startled but she managed to block the assault with her sword.
Saiko exchanged sword strikes with her for a few seconds before he suddenly shifted his stance to redirect his location as his eyes turned to Ian. He moved very swiftly to the flaming area, notwithstanding the heat and the scorching effect of the lava.
Even though Saiko was swift and agile, his mage cultivation was still similar to Ian's. Thus, he was not completely insulated from the blazing flame of that zone. He didn't realize that when he was sparring with Ian, his mana was slowly depleted. Without warning, he looked at one corner to notice Kelly approaching the area while he was still exchanging sword blows with Ian.
Quickly, Saiko pivoted away from Ian as he returned to his zone while Kelly changed her direction to deal with the fire sword wielder.
Both Ian and Kelly were striking their swords in the air. When Kelly felt that she was gaining a disadvantage, she performed a technique that resulted in a gasp from the audience.
"The Ice Sword Dance!" This time it was Cindy who exclaimed.
In one corner, a female mage spoke, "She is already on her way to perfecting the second layer but she's still far from perfecting it to defeat her current opponent." a red-haired chick with a tomboyish gesture commented. She was Margie Garuda, Kelly Lang's teammate.
"With our leader's help, she went through the second layer, faster than we expected." Another chick with light brown oriental features spoke in defense.
Their brief conversation was interrupted when they noticed Ian had changed his footwork and performed a spin while suspended in the air.
"Woah!"
"A fire tornado!" A middle-aged, average-looking man with a tanned complexion exclaimed. It was Bomer, whom Sigmund regarded as having a haughty character. "Can Saiko beat that?" He added with a crushed expression.
"Let Saiko surprise us!" Jameson sniggered as he found the battle royale to be interesting. He and his team also engaged in this type of battle competition when they were in other territories.
Despite Jameson's optimism, Saiko seemed to have suffered from depleted mana. He was even surprised when Saiko uttered with a frown, "I concede!"
Meanwhile, Kelly Lang's face was filled with bewilderment when she tried to extricate herself from the fire tornado. She attempted to neutralize her opponent by releasing ice-cold wind from her Sword Ice Dance technique.
Her technique seemed to be working but her mana consumption was staggering enough that she could not perform another set of magic techniques.
"It's over for her." Shura indifferently muttered. She observed the fight closely, thinking that it might result in a draw. But it seemed they were underestimating their opponent especially, Ian Slav.
"That Ian Slav was simply arrogant! I have been trying to spar with him as we deal with the same element. Ugh!" Margie's remark made Shura speechless.
'She is a ruffian through and through,' the leader of the Golden Crows silently said as she sighed while she evaluated her teammate.
"I concede!" Kelly Lang yelled. She immediately disappeared from the raised platform.
On another corner, the teammates from the Cheetahs were cheering and hollering as they beheld the conclusion of the battle royale.
"Ian Slav from the Cheetahs won!"
Harry announced as he approached the victor of the first battle royale held in Greston Village.
The battle royale started with a bang. What the audience noticed though was that it ended faster than they anticipated. But then they were still cheerful as the host announced the winner.
The audience became rowdy as they celebrated the finale of the fight. Many were delighted while anticipating more battle royales in the future.
The ground in the main hall immediately returned to what it was, erasing the traces of mana fluctuation and transformation particularly when Ian turned the ground into lava.
The cheering noise began to subside when Sigmund stood from his seat, which was similar in design to an imperial throne.
"May I request the winner to approach the area at the foot of the staircase to receive your reward?"
