Chapter 8: Happy.

Now everything seems to be my fault.

But what did I do?

------------------------

"I couldn't be happier that Freya treated you the way she did," he said with a certain joy, while he got out of the car with the others. The news of what happened on the bridge had spread as fast as lightning to everywhere, even to the school. From outside, you could hear the murmurs of the students talking about the subject. Happy had gotten out of the car, adjusting his tuxedo. "You deserve it," he added.

"Can you shut up, Michelle?" Peter asked as they entered the school.

"No," she replied, arriving at their lockers. The classes had already started, so they would miss the first hour. Happy, after leaving the three inside, said goodbye and left. "I hope Freya never talks to you again."

"Well...why?" the shorter one asked, frowning and stopping his walking. "Enough is enough. I understand that Maryah didn't behave well, but let's just leave it at that."

"And when has she ever done that?" Ned asked. "What annoyed me the most about everything that happened was that you," he pointed at Peter, resuming his walk straight to the campus benches, "were not able to stop Maryah or..."

"To deny that Freya was your friend," Michelle finished, the three of them already seated. "You're disappointing."

"Now what did I do?" At the question, Michelle and Ned looked at him with narrowed eyes. They couldn't believe he had asked something so obvious. Until he began to realize what he had done and felt bad. Maryah's behavior wasn't the best and he had to admit it, and even more, his own behavior. He hadn't said anything or tried to defend the only girl who until now had made him feel good, and that was Freya. So, that's where the reason why she spoke to him so neutrally came from, causing that strange pang in his chest. The one you feel when someone you care about treats you indifferently. Yes, Peter cared about Freya, he saw her as a friend he had longed for and didn't want to lose her. "I'm an idiot," he said after a few minutes.

"You're just realizing it now?" Michelle spoke and Peter looked at her. "I hope she doesn't talk to you anymore. You don't deserve the attention that the snake Maryah doesn't give you."

"Maryah is not a snake," he replied. "Stop talking bad about her."

"The more you defend her, the more snake I'll talk about her," she told him, and Peter looked at her angrily. "That girl is useless. Just like Flash, I'm even sure she has her secret flings with him..."

"Enough!" Peter raised his voice, tired of the conversation. "You're annoying, Michelle."

"And I know it. And I'm proud of it, darling," she said with sarcasm. "And if you don't like it, you can leave. Because I won't stop telling the truth about that fake blonde."

Peter hardened his expression, took his backpack, and got up from the table. He was tired of hearing the same thing, he was bored with the same thing. Michelle, upon Peter's act, just rolled her eyes and let her weight fall on the back of the bench without caring about anything. Ned, who was sitting next to her, looked at her without saying anything, everything Michelle said was true, and he was on her side. So he just watched as Peter walked away.

--------------------------------------------------

It was four o'clock in the afternoon, and the sun still shone brightly, but it didn't bother anyone. The sun's rays were reflecting off the surroundings of the AVENGERS headquarters, and everyone inside was busy investigating the device, based on what the Freys brothers had told them. They had to be vigilant in this situation and act quickly. Most of the clan were pleased to see Freya, and the rest were pleased to meet her, although she didn't realize it, she had stolen several sighs from most of the men in the base. And needless to say, her brother had the majority of the women wrapped around his finger. "He enjoyed having them like that," Frey thought to himself every time he noticed it.

Now they were both with several members of the clan in the Star room. Upon arrival, Scott couldn't help but gloat to Stark about how Freya apparently intimidated him and made him come to the base. In fact, most of the agents did.

"I can imagine the scene," Steve spoke. "Stark, go to the base with Frey, now," he said, trying to sound like Freya, and everyone laughed except Stark, who glared at him.

"And if you don't, I'll kick your little butt," Nat added, and they all exploded in laughter. The rest of the clan appeared and laughed too. Stark glared at each one, offended by what they were doing. "Take that killer look off your face, Tony. It does nothing to us."

"It just makes me laugh more," T'Challa said, wiping tears from the corners of his eyes from laughing. "You look like that guy from the movie..."

"The fake killer stare guy," Fury completed, and T'Challa nodded. "I think it's worse," he laughed, and the rest laughed along.

Stark couldn't believe that even Fury was in on this offensive joke. Without saying a word, he just sat on the couch, turned on the TV, and pretended not to hear everyone laughing. First, it was with Frey, and now it was with him, total annoyance.

"Freya, dear," Wanda spoke, who barely knew her, but upon seeing inside her, she fell in love with her. Freya stopped talking to her brother and approached her. "I wanted to talk to you about something," she whispered, and Freya listened attentively. She moved away from the others. "I... I..." Wanda hesitated, not knowing how to start talking.

Freya stroked her arm and asked her to speak calmly. Wanda took a deep breath and spoke.

"Is it true that you can bring back those who are no longer here?" she asked, and Freya leaned back a little. "No one told me anything; I saw it. I'm sorry," she apologized.

"It's called Rebirth," she said after a few seconds, "and don't apologize. It's just that..."

"No one, apart from your brother and now me, knows about it," she interrupted, and Freya nodded. "Why?"

"I live in a universe where my life is all about my people, you know? And there are those who want to use all the power I possess for other things. My people are my life, I can't let anything happen to them," she said.

Rebirth, which translates to "back in time," has been inherited by the Freys family's descendants for centuries. This power is very rare, and this time it was Freya's turn to have it and know how to handle it in the best possible way. The power of this gift is unique, perfect, full of love, grace, and humanity. She has used it very few times.

Freya listened to her speak.

"I've had this power for centuries, in a kind of secret," Freya said.

"And I respect that, Freya. I really do, just as I respect you," Wanda replied. Freya smiled, having only recently met Wanda but already finding her to be a girl with a big heart, evident in how she treated others, especially Vision. "But about that power, I wanted to ask you a favor," Wanda added a few seconds later. "I have a brother... whom I love with all my heart," she confessed, briefly closing her eyes. "His name is Pietro. During the last battle in Sokovia, he..."

"He gave his life to save Hawkeye and a little boy," Freya interrupted, and Wanda looked surprised but nodded. "You're not the only one who presumes to see through minds," they both laughed briefly. "What your brother did is the most honorable thing to consider, despite how arrogant I may have seen him," they laughed a little more. "Both of them have been through a lot, from the death of their parents to stopping hating Stark," Freya said. "Both have big hearts." Wanda smiled a little. "Your brother is not suffering from the impact," she added.

"What?" Wanda asked, furrowing her brow. "How do you know that?"

"I just know, little one," Freya replied. "Your brother's soul is not suffering, he is fine." Wanda's eyes filled with tears.

"He has been in a coma for many long years, Freya. He shows no sign of waking up, and I want him to come back," Wanda said in a low voice, tears falling. "Help me," she pleaded, moving closer to her. "I beg you. I want him back, to see him annoy others, to see him laugh, be arrogant, be himself." She looked directly into Freya's eyes, filled with tears.

Freya looked at her tenderly, wiping her tears. She could see the pain and anger Wanda felt about her brother; she blamed herself for something that wasn't her fault. Freya looked towards the room; everyone was watching without understanding what was happening or why Wanda was crying and hugging her. With her gaze, Freya asked them to leave the room, and they did so without further ado. Not before Vision understood, by looking at Freya, what was happening with the woman he adored. Freya caressed Wanda's hair and pulled her away a little, placing her hands on her cheeks and looking her in the eyes. She was a great woman, Freya thought inwardly, she didn't deserve anything that had happened to her. Her brother was the only family she had left, and that broke her heart. She missed her brother.

"Don't cry, little one," Freya pleaded. "Everything will get better, okay?" she asked, and Wanda nodded. What Freya was about to do was a decision she had made so that Wanda's eyes wouldn't be sad. She couldn't do what she was about to do; it wasn't allowed for humans, and in many ways, it wasn't allowed for many things. But she would do it. "Take me to where they have your brother's body," she requested after a few minutes.

Wanda's lips curled into a smile.

Would Freya do what she thought she would do?
