Chapter 164: Chapter 164

At the same time, atop the Hokage building, the conversation between Tsunade and her subordinates and the Deva Path had reached its conclusion.

Human Path, having read Shizune's memories, swiftly relayed the information to Deva Path.

Upon receiving the memories, Deva Path's eyes snapped open, a spark of realization flashing within them.

"Mount Myōboku... I recall it's the Land of Toads, isn't it? It appears there's no point in lingering here any longer."

He remarked, casting an uneasy and cautious glance towards Carnes, who sat on the rocking chair, seemingly engrossed in the unfolding drama.

In Deva Path's eyes, Tsunade and the others before him seemed insignificant, they were mere spectators.

Their importance was overshadowed by Carnes in the rocking chair who observed their interactions as if watching a captivating performance.

It was Carnes, with his calm demeanor, who commanded his full attention.

To gain his attention was their paramount goal.

The Konoha ninjas were taken aback by Deva Path's knowledge leaving most of them bewildered.

This revelation sent shockwaves through the ranks of Konoha's ninja. "How could he possibly know..."

"Bastard!"

Tsunade, gritting her silver teeth, exclaimed.

"Tsunade sama, perhaps we should let him escape for now. This could be an opportunity to fortify the village's defenses during this period," suggested an Anbu ninja standing beside Tsunade, attempting to inject reason into the heated moment.

However, Tsunade was clearly reluctant to make such a decision.

Before their discussions could yield any results, Deva Path abruptly turned around.

"May I ask one final question? Are you using chakra in your feet to counter my jutsu? Thus, rendering my abilities ineffective against you," he inquired, his tone tinged with a note of curiosity.

"It appears you are already well-versed with my abilities..."

"Nevertheless, all of this is meaningless in the face of overwhelming power!" Deva Path proclaimed, his voice carrying a weighty air.

"Your great nations have proved this over the years."

"You all consider yourselves the main forces in this world, pushing thoughts of death aside, lulled by a false sense of peace."

"In your pursuit of peace, you've grown complacent. You've forgotten that in the cycle of life and death, the blade cuts both ways. Understand that in the world of conflict, killing begets retribution."

"You grow shallow, forgetting that to kill is to invite the same fate upon oneself."

"Hatred is the thread that weaves this cause and effect, it forms the connection in this cycle."

"In battle, both sides bear the burden of death, injury, and pain."

Carnes observed Deva Path's speech with keen interest, filling his glass.

Deep inside, he couldn't help but comment silently on the unfolding situation.

Whether the glass was half full or half empty held more significance than met the eye. For if it were not filled to the brim, Nagato's life could take a dire turn.

But as he witnessed this scene, Carnes couldn't shake off a sense of secondhand embarrassment.

He couldn't help but wonder what the other crew members would think if they were here to witness Nagato's speech.

Nagato's social life on the ship would surely be filled with embarrassment if the other crew members were present.

However, this time, Deva Path's words cut a little too deep, and Tsunade couldn't bear it any longer.

He had spoken a bit too much, making Tsunade unable to contain her anger.

"You're a self-righteous fool, all you seem to do is spew nonsense. Enough of this!" she seethed; her voice laced with anger.

"We, the Great Nations, have already endured our share of pain. You can't use these excuses to justify your actions."

Tsunade exclaimed with a fiery anger burning in her eyes, her patience finally worn thin by the Pain she had to endure.

Yet, this sentence acted like a spark, completely igniting Deva Path's long-held anger, pushing him to the brink.

The fury that had festered within him for over a long time surged to the surface.

His eyes brimmed with a decade's worth of pent-up anger.

His homeland lay in ruins, his parents had died before his very eyes, and his dear friend Yahiko had been forced to meet his end by his own hands.

In his eyes, people like Tsunade had no right to speak about pain before him.

He couldn't help but scoff Tsunade, who dared to speak of pain in his presence.

Deva Path had lost his grip on reason, his emotions spiraling out of control.

"Absurd!" he roared, his voice filled with a potent mix of anger and despair.

.....

"Feel the pain."

"Accept the pain."

"And know the pain."
