A Ray Of Sunshine

"Abeoji, I want to talk to you about someone. Someone interesting, someone who seems to like me a lot. Although he thinks I'm unaware of his feelings, his pure eyes always give him away. It's fascinating to watch the emotions flicker through his eyes. He is super popular, but he is not as smug as I thought. He's also very handsome, just like you. Thanks to him, my days are less mundane. But I wonder what would happen if my brothers found out about his feelings for me."

Seungjoon slowly rose from his position on the ground, his eyes fixed on the tombstone before him. He took a moment to gaze at the engraved letters and the picture of his beloved father. With a heavy heart and a deep sense of longing, he leaned in and planted a tender kiss on the photograph, silently conveying his love and respect for the man who had meant everything to him.

As Seungjoon made his way down the hill, he couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over him. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees, and the sweet scent of wildflowers filled the air. As he walked, his mind wandered back to the day when he first saw Minjun. He remembered the way his smile had lit up the stadium. The memory brought a smile to Seungjoon's face.

It was two years ago when Seungjoon accompanied Taemin to the basketball trials. Upon arriving at the court, Seungjoon noticed a tall, athletic boy with a smiling face - it was Minjun, the team's captain. As the trials began and Taemin stepped onto the court, Seungjoon's attention was drawn to Minjun's eyes. They were big and brown. They revealed a range of emotions as he watched Taemin's every move. Throughout the trials, Seungjoon was captivated by the pureness in Minjun's eyes. Seungjoon felt as if he were looking into Minjun's soul.

Seungjoon read the name on the back of the t-shirt.

'Han Minjun.'

Seungjoon knew him by his name. Minjun was popular as a handsome and charming guy. His father was a minister, and Seungjoon knew Minjun's family owned a chain of hospitals. In other words, they were filthy rich and a prestigious family. Unfortunately, this also meant that they were constantly in the public eye, no matter where they went.

'I wonder whether you are the same person you appear to be.,' Seungjoon thought as he watched Minjun observe the trials with a serious face. Now and then, he relayed his judgment through the vice-captain.

As the days passed, Seungjoon forgot about Minjun until one day, after two years, Minjun appeared in the infirmary with bruises on his arms.

Seungjoon watched Minjun's face while the nurse gave him painkillers. He had grown taller and some of the baby fat, but still, his big brown eyes had their puppy look. Seungjoon prepared the Medi kit and started cleaning Minjun's bruises carefully. He applied antiseptic with a smirk on his face. He knew it was going to sting badly. As he expected, Minjun took a sharp breath.

Seungjoon apologized to Minjun while biting his lips to stop himself from laughing.

Seungjoon finished applying antiseptic and raised his head to see Minjun looking at him curiously. As their eyes met, Minjun's eyes widened in surprise.

Seungjoon carefully observed the array of emotions that dashed across Minjun's eyes. He could see the reflection of Minjun's heart in his eyes - pure, honest, and vulnerable. As he watched, he felt a stirring deep within his soul, a feeling he had never experienced before. It was as if he had discovered a secret part of himself that he never knew existed. As Minjun walked out of the infirmary, Seungjoon couldn't help but notice the dazed look on his face and wondered what thoughts were going through his mind.

'Han Minjun, why do I feel like you are going to cause trouble…..'

A ray of sunshine fell through the infirmary window, and as Seungjoon watched it, he understood that Minjun had left a warm, bright spark in his dark, cold soul.
