Nodding in response to their request, Gao Shou handed over the recommendation letter he had received from Mr. Zhang, given to him by a friend of Mr. Zhang. The interviewers accepted the envelope, their eyes scanning its contents in silence. Soft whispers ensued among them, and Gao Shou caught fragments of their conversation. One phrase caught his attention, "He finally came, and the 17th one too." It became apparent that they had been anticipating his arrival.
