Only two words were spoken, but those two words signified the end of a man's life. The guard that now stood behind the young woman from the Styx family could only watch on in horror as his friend's life was snuffed out right before his eyes.

This was the same man he'd been laughing at for chasing a bird behind a single gold coin.

This was the same man who'd also helped carry him back when they were escaping the cowardly omen who'd ambushed them.

The same man who'd helped raised his daughter by helping him find this job in the first place and had helped him out of the rut his ex-wife had put him in several years ago.

The guard's colleague, his friend... his daughter's uncle... was now lying before him while clutching his throat as he stared angrily at the woman in front of him.
