(Chapter 24) Fallen Swordsman
Shiki coughed out as he tried and failed to keep his breath as he looked towards the smouldering body that was his enemy
"If it wasn't for my haki I would came been killed..." he grabs his blades from the ground before sheathing them, he turned around and walked towards the dying man
A thunder strike could be heard as the clouds above start raining drenching the scorched land and hoping to revitalize
'It was a great fight ill tell you that, may you rest in peace you old fool' before taking his blade and sheathing as he walked away
"Now time to find that brat and woman" he thought as he flew away towards the capital and he used his observation haki to search for them
A few minutes later, Ryu wakes up looking around and noticing that the sounds of fighting have stopped
He peeks out only to see ash but soon notices something moving up and down in one pile
He walks towards it not knowing if it was the enemy only for his eyes to widen in horror, 'JI-CHAN?!'
He rushes over to his side as he holds his charred hands, The old man coughs out before opening his eyelids
He couldn't see anything his eyes must have melted as he sighs before coughing out once more, 'Ryu..'
His voice was ragged as he heard his grandson by his side, He smiles gently as he caresses his hand
'I'm sor-' he coughs out more as blood shot out of his mouth as it covers Ryu's kimono
His eyes were filled with horror 'Ji-chan don't move! I'll get you help just please...
Please don't leave ji-chan....'
Minamoto's charred face smiles widely as he holds his grandson's hand 'I'm not leaving Ryu...
I'll just be seeing you alongside your grandmother hopefully, she makes her famous cupcakes oh how I missed them...'
As tears formed and fell down his charred face, Ryu just cries as he holds his grandfather
Soon his body goes limp in his arms, Ryu stays quiet the rain drenched him in its cold embrace
"Ji-chan..."
He clenches his death as he burns the face of the man that killed his father into his brain as he lets out a primal scream as a wave of haki engulfs the field
It stops soon after it came, as he closed his Grandfathers eyes carrying his body, as he walked down the field
A few moments later reaching a set set of graves and puts him down before taking a nearby shovel, he starts digging right beside the grave of his late grandmother
A few more minutes of heavy rainfall and he's finally finished digging, he jumps out before taking the body of his now late grandfather and laying it inside the grave
Getting out of the grave soon after he raises his grimy hands and picks up the shovel before filling the hole
A few more minutes later and he's done, he just stands there looking towards the grave, he sniffles a bit before wiping his nose
He doesn't know how long he stood there, he soon decides to go check on his mother not knowing if she's alright

Shiki laughs as he could sense the woman inside the little shop, his laughs subside as it turns into a maniacal grin
He takes out a torch before lighting it as he threw it onto the house, 'I can't sense the boy, he might have gotten to the capital and left his mother here, what a shame'
He turns around and leaves floating towards the city that he saw not too long ago, another 5 minutes of flying and he arrives at the sight of utter chaos
He grins and looks around at Newgates handiwork before asking a random pirate 'Where is he?'
'Who-'
'Don't play dumb you faggot who else would I want to know the whereabouts of?!' the pirate shakes in his boats and gulps
'He headed towards the west a few minutes ago sir' Shiki nodded before asking again
'Did you find anything of worth?'
The pirate shook his head 'No sir the only thing was the swords of those noble looking swordsmen and other than that maybe the box we found in one of their incinerators
'Lead me there' came his reply as the pirate just nodded before leading him to a set of large broken metal incinerators
'The box was too large for any of us to move so it's still inside' he said before opening the hatch as he pointed out a black case
Shiki's eyes widen as he sensed what was inside the box, he slices the walls of the incinerator before walking inside
He didn't care about getting dirty as he was already covered in ash and was burnt in multiple places
He touches the case before effortlessly making it float, 'Take the rest of the blades and head west towards the main ship' came his orders as he flew away towards where Newgate had left off to
"To think I would find one of the seven here" he thought as he soured threw the sky grinning maniacally
