Chapter 85: Chapter 84 - Statue

Kaito crosses his arms and stares at the motionless figure with crossed eyes. "Hey, I know you're alive. Come on, tell me what you are, or I won't hesitate to fight you." 

Kaito's voice echoes across the open courtyard, mixing with the charged atmosphere, and he places his right hand on the hilt of his sword.

A tense silence hangs in the air after Kaito's bold declaration. Then something incredible happens. The statue's eyes, which previously appeared to be inanimate stone, begin to glow with an intense amber light. The glow radiates with an aura of power, and a voice suddenly rings out, clear and melodic, echoing as if from all directions at once. 

"You are a sharp and bold, young man. Your instincts do not deceive you. I am an entity tied to this fortress and the stories it harbors."

Kaito's eyes widen in surprise at the answer he has received. The statue seems to have indeed come to life, and is now communicating directly with him.
