“So you got something out of Rose, but you weren't going to share it with us.” Mark squinted at me. “Why?”

“I just want you to put the investigation on hold,” I said, “Since she's my sister, I was wondering if I could look into this myself. I swear, if I find anything, I'll let you know. But not yet. I need to reach out to that Rose again and find some hard evidence.”

“Eva, do you also suspect that Mia came back for another reason?” Liv asked. “But I think you're trying to protect Mia, which I don't understand.”
