Chapter 6: Memories of that night kept hunting me

As we were eating lunch, I was thinking about asking Ethan if he wants to go visit my mom's grave with me but I feared that he meant not to feel comfortable because of what happened in the past so I decided to do it tomorrow alone. Right now it's not the right time to talk about such a sensitive matter. He seems to be In a good mood and doesn't want to ruin it.

"Where did you go?" I asked signaling.

Usually, I don't ask him about his work and where he went but these days I'm being very curious about what he does. When taking care of work takes a long time and can't come back home early, he explains in detail why he was late thinking that I might be mad at him. It's both cute and funny but I never tell him that because Ethan hates being called cute.

"There was a problem with the maritime customs, they refused to let the merchandise in at first but it's solved now." Ethan replied as he reached to wipe the spaghetti sauce from the corner of my lips with his thumb before he brought it to his lips and licked it as if it were nothing.

He didn't on purpose knowing that it would turn me on but I tried my best to ignore the temptation and said."I never saw you working."

Ethan chuckled as he picked up his wine glass and took a sip of it."Tonight I have a meeting, you can attend if you want." He replied, giving me the freedom to choose.

I thought about it for a while and nodded my head.

"You might see a different me, so I don't want you to feel scared." Came Ethan's gentle warning and I suddenly felt that I might be not ready to see the other side of him but I'm not planning to back away now.

"Is the meeting at the main house?" I asked because I noticed that all the important meetings happen there.

"Yes. After the dinner." Ethan replied, reaching to hold my hand."What made you suddenly curious about my work?" He asked as he urged me to stand up and come to sit on his lap.

"I don't." I honestly replied.

After this, Ethan didn't ask me anything further and picked up my fork, and started to feed me the rest of my lunch, making sure that I finished my food and took my medications.

______________________________________

At six in the evening, Ethan and I got into the car and drove towards his parent's house. I was a bit uncomfortable with going there but I tried to not think about it but no matter how I tried the memories of that night kept hunting me. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes but I opened them when I felt his arms around my waist pulling me closer to him.

We were both sitting in the back seat as the driver drove the car. I rested my head on his chest and closed my eyes but I just couldn't stop the voices of screaming around me that night. I looked up at Ethan, silently begging him for help.

Ethan reached for the divider button and it immediately separated us from the driver. It was as if we were alone and no one could bother us.

"Lay down and rest for a while." Ethan said to me and did as I was told.

I removed my shoes and laid down, resting my head on Ethan's thigh. I felt his big hand covering my view, gently forcing me to close my eyes and stop thinking about everyone and everything. Ethan started doing this after I woke up from the coma and surprisingly this technique helped me to sleep or stop thinking about what was stressing me.

The distance between our home and Ethan's parents' home would take more than an hour and that gave me the time to take a short comfortable nap. Ethan didn't move an inch from his place and made sure that I slept as comfortably as possible. I wasn't planning to sleep the whole read but it seems that I was so exhausted that I slept for the whole time.

When we arrived, Ethan woke me up and gave me some water to drink, and helped me to fix my clothes before we got out of the car. Sometimes I feel like I'm some spoiled rich girl when he treats me like this but I don't hate it.

"Tell me if you feel uncomfortable or anything and we will leave immediately," Ethan said to me as we walked towards the house entrance and I smiled, loving how he is so thoughtful of my feelings.

Once we entered the house, I saw Lana Ethan's mother talking to the maid's but when she saw them she immediately dismissed them and walked towards us.

"Oh, you finally came. I missed you so much." Lana said, taking in his arms, hugging me tightly.

I hugged her back as I can't deny that I didn't miss her or everyone in this house, I just hate the place, not the people who live in it. Everyone was so good to me when I came to their house, they treated me as part of the family and it helped me so much to get through that difficult phase of my life.

Lana pulled back and looked at me smiling but her eyes were full of tears.

"I missed you too." I replied, signaling.

"I know, We all miss you but we understand what you're going through." Lana said.

Her words gave me some kind of comfort as I was feeling guilty about how I left the house after what everyone did for me.
