Chapter 16: The truth
"Uncle …."
These are the words that leave Dina's mouth as she stares at the two men talking to each other in the kitchen. Just a few moments ago, after she and Angelo hustled dressing up, they teleported to the mansion they were in now.
"Dina …" Faris steps towards her but she takes a few steps back. Her face is expressionless and she looks coldly at him. "I know I should have told you …." His voice resounds in the kitchen as he keeps eye contact with the girl.
"You have many things to tell me." Dina crosses her arms and stares at the man who scratches his head. His long hair is tied up in his usual ponytail…that she missed.
'You should have told me …. why did you send me here alone?…. why are you coming for me now ?….' Questions are coming in her mind like an endless train. But she decides to shut up and listen to what the man has to say.
"Should we leave you alone?" Ralph puts his hand on Faris' shoulder. The man is turning his head towards Ralph.
"No. Stay. I have some questions for you too." Dina makes his uncle turn his head toward her and Ralph gulps. The two men look at each other and then at Angelo who is standing behind Dina.
The boy smirks and gets closer to the girl putting both hands on her shoulders.
"Yea…you should answer her questions." The two men frown and Angelo giggles subtly.
"You can teleport to your room." Dina cuts his mood as she grabs his hand and he wines as she rotates her grip, making him get in front of her. "Or should I drag you there?" Her eyes are as cold as ever.
Angelo lets this slide and gets out of the kitchen with a frown on. He knows the girl is mad for a good reason. Still, he was curious to hear what they were about to talk about.
Now that Angelo seemed to be a demonstration of how angry she was, Ralph looks at Faris as if he would say 'I told you that you will get screwed for this ..'.
Dina breathes and lets her hands fall as she strolls to the kitchen table. She pulls a chair and sits on it in a Turkish position looking at what was on the table. After she lets a small smile cover her lips because of the cookies Faris brought for her, she turns nonchalant as she munches on them.
"Sit …. I will be listening …" Dina points at the two chairs in front of her across the table.
As they take a sit, Faris stretches his hand to take a cookie. She glares at him as she takes the box.
The man takes back his hand and awkwardly looks at Ralph who is restraining from laughing. He never seen Faris this hopeless before. The girl was the only one who could make Lord Faris look like a scolded puppy.
"Well, what do you want to know?" Ralph starts the conversation as he sips from a cup of tea. He needed to break the ice somehow.
"Hmm…. Firstly …Why did you send me here, uncle?" She pierces him with her black eyes and she shifts her eyes to the next cookie she takes out of the box.
"…..I will have to tell you a lot of things …but I want to tell you something before I start." Faris pauses and his voice drops lower as if to convince her he meant every word he says, " I want to protect you and I never meant to harm you in any way. Keeping secrets is not fair…I know … but it was better this way."
Dina knows it. Her eyes warm up and she looks at him. But still, her heart aches when she thinks that she has been kept in darkness till now.
"I still trust you …. a little. I want to know the truth this time. Don't lie to me ….." She almost mumbles but her eyes are gazing into his as if she clings to him desperately to not be left out.
"Your parents were the leaders of the vampires. Even though they were humans. Your grandparents protected your father and didn't transform him into a vampire. "
Faris starts his story having a nostalgic tone.
"Vampires can have human children?" Dina stops eating and raises her eyebrow.
"Angelo was a human before I bit him…. well, his mom was human …so if a human and a vampire mate they can have a human child …but vampires have pure blood vampire kids if they mate with a vampire.Still no vampire would prefer a vampire mate instead of a human . " Ralph explains this matter as he uses his family as a real example.
"Got it …." She gets back on munching, shifting her eyes from Ralph to Faris.
"Looking back ..many vampires were revolting because of your parents being their leaders. So, one day …as I was trying to fight them …some of them came and killed your parents. "His voice stops and he looks at Dina. She is trying to not show any emotion but her eyes are watery.
"Why am I still alive? I could have been killed too… "She lets out the question that ground her the most…since her parents died.
"This is the reason I send you here and why you are still alive: The man who will marry you, will be named the next leader of vampires. Your parents left a written testament and vampires have to respect it."
Faris takes out a paper that is rolled. It looks old and is tied with a fine lace. He passes it to Dina. She cleans her hands wiping them on her clothes. Crumbs are falling off on the floor tales.
She reads exactly as Faris just told her.

...I, Kylo Dragomir, the Great Leader of Vampires, hereby ....
…. My daughter, Dina Dragomir, shall be the Queen of Vampires after I die. Whoever marries her with love and dignity shall be named the Great Leader of Vampires. ...

After she folds the paper, she passes it to Faris.
"When I sent you to Ralph, some vampires came to get you. After I caught one of them, I found a symbol on his clothes. I will find out who was behind all of this…. I just need to use Ralph's library."
"What was the symbol?" Dina grips her hand on the cookie.
"A White Lily …. You don't need to worry …." Faris is prepared to explain further but Dina runs upstairs and comes back with something in her hand. She slams the White Lily badge on the table under the eyes of the two men.
"This is what I found after they killed mom and dad …."
Faris and Ralph are shocked. They couldn't believe their eyes.
"Is the same person behind all of this … "Faris mumbles as he takes the badge and inspects it."His eyes glance at Ralph .
"So, I can assume he wanted me since he killed my parents …because he could be the next leader?" Dina supports her chin with her hand as she looks absently.
"With this clue, we can ask the person itself. " Ralph smirks and takes the badge from Faris who frowns .
As Dina sits on the chair, Faris raises his voice and says," One of the reasons why I came here is that the Circle wants a meeting, and Ralph and Angelo need to come. "
Faris frowns and continues, "You will have to stay alone for a two days . Now that you know what is happening, you have to be careful and remain hidden. This mansion is perfect…is in the 'unknown' …no one knows about it except me, Angelo, Ralph, and you…. You will be safe."
Dina looks at him and adds, " You don't have to worry. I can protect myself …."
Ralph looks at her and with a smile nods. "Of course, you are capable of protecting yourself. Angelo is the proof …. hahaha!"
The girl smiles and leans in the chair thinking.
'This is why too serious …. scary …' She imagines if the unknown man were to get her and marry her without her will. '…. I would rather kill myself than let him take me …."
She remembers the way she froze in front of the vampire lady …. there is no way she can protect herself. However, she decides to take her heart in her teeth and see what will happen. 'I will do it …. somehow …'
"Like hell, she will stay alone!" Angelo barges in. He kept his ear the entire time on the door. But, he couldn't keep his mouth shut when he heard what the old men decided.
Dina turns her head to him. Her frown denotes anger.
'Who is he to decide what she will or not ?….'
"She will stay alone, son. The things are heated up in the Circle as Faris told me …Votes are needed for a good law. You are coming with us." His father puts the cup of tea he sipped till now, on the table.
Angelo frowns." You know that from all the vampires you fought, some could have escaped …the house is not entirely safe…" He refers to the crystal vampires Dina broke before they left for New York.
Faris glances at Ralph. "You didn't tell me about that …"
The man sighs and says with confidence, "Don't worry …. I followed all of them and not even one is out of its crystal now…. You can count them."
Angelo frowns more.
"You still can't let her alone! What if … "His angry tone and fuming face make Dina fuming too. She cuts his speech short.
"SHUT UP! My head hurts from your annoying voice! You are going there and I will stay here! Got it? "She calms down after running her frustrations out. She rises and wants to go to her room after she tells the two men that she will come for lunch later.
The boy is quiet as he stares at Dina. 'As if I will let you alone …' His thoughts are going to be fulfilled.
Angelo grabs her hand as she wants to pass him.
"Let go …" She growls as her eyes darken.
"We are going to talk." He reddens his eyes and his nails grow. After scratching himself the blood envelopes them.
"To the cave. Fast pace!"
//As you wish, young master. //
Ralph and Faris blink at each other while Dina feels the rage growing as the darkness and speed make her cling to Angelo.
