Chapter 9: Path (1)

Getting ready for a run, Luke donned a black shirt and black jersey shorts with a good pair of running shoes.

He then added a good black hoodie to his outfit.

Luke checked his watch, ensuring he had his running playlist ready to keep him motivated throughout his workout.

Who doesn't listen to music while running? Luke thought to himself.

With his attire and gear all set, he grabbed his water bottle and headed out the door, eager to start his training.

As he was heading out, he paused in front of a mirror and took a swift look at himself.

"We have the same name and surname, but the similarities end there," Luke thought, chuckling to himself.

Unlike him, the previous Luke worked hard on himself physically and mentally.

Even if he knew he didn't have the talent to become a warrior, it didn't stop Luke from pursuing his dreams.

Black, long hair that reached his neck, dark and flowing, framed his face like a curtain of midnight.

It added a mysterious aura to Luke's appearance.

Blue crystal eyes that glistened like the clearest waters of a serene mountain lake seemed to hold within them the very essence of tranquility.

Each time you looked into those eyes, it was as if you could see the ripples on the water's surface, gentle and soothing.

They were a mesmerizing shade of blue, reminiscent of a cloudless summer sky.

<<Luke>>

Luke admired the chiseled muscles and strong physique that the previous Luke had worked hard to achieve.

His face was handsome and defined, with a strong jawline and a perfect face that added a touch of ruggedness to his overall look.

He wasn't ugly at all.

With Luke's appearance, he was considered quite attractive.

His dark hair and piercing blue eyes added to his overall appeal.

Girls were often drawn to him like moths to a flame, captivated by his striking features.

Unfortunately, despite his striking looks in this world, having a handsome face wasn't enough to guarantee success.

As someone who doesn't have the talent to become a warrior, no girl would be interested in him.

Looks may capture attention, but it was his talent that held him back.

If Luke was on Earth 1 and had that appearance, he would have been the center of attention wherever he went.

He wouldn't have a problem finding one girlfriend or two.

The family of three lives in a worn-down apartment; it was the only thing his mother could afford.

It cost 500 UHC (United Human Confederation) to rent it, a price that was a strain on their already tight budget.

(A/N: Currency: UHC; I wanted to use the US dollar but changed my mind; I don't know if I will change this later.)

It might not seem too expensive, especially when you compare it to the high housing costs in their city. But even though they faced financial challenges, Luke's mother always stressed the significance of education."

She believed that with a good education, Luke could overcome any limitations and achieve success in life.

That is why she had to pay for her two kids school fees and buy all the necessary textbooks and other necessities.

For their future, she would sacrifice her own needs and work multiple jobs just to ensure they had access to a quality education.

Even when she found out that he didn't have the talent to become a warrior, she wasn't disappointed in him but rather encouraged him to continue his studies in a normal college after he finished school.

Business was a good major.

Or maybe an engineering major.

She wanted her son to have a stable and successful career that would provide him with financial security later.

She is a good mother.

Even Luke agreed that his mother was a good mother.

There were not a lot of mothers who would sacrifice their lives for their children's well-being and future.

The previous Luke was lucky to have a mother like her who always put his needs first.

"Now she's my mother too," Luke thought to himself, recalling the memory he had with her when he was a kid.

Of course, they weren't his, but the previous Luke memory made it difficult for Luke to fully accept her as his mother.

"Sigh..." He wondered if he would ever truly feel the same connection with her as he did with his mother on Earth 1.

Despite his doubts, he knew that he now needed to take care of this family, even if he needed time to fully accept his new identity.

She was still his biological mother now.

All hopes were now with his sister, as she was now the only one in the family that could become a warrior and start making money.

The money a warrior makes is truly impressive and could provide for their family's needs.

For example, a normal family household monthly income was around 2,000 UHC, but a normal warrior could earn up to 10,000 UHC or more from just one hunt inside the wilderness.

With that kind of money, they could afford a comfortable home, a quality education for the children, and even save for the future.

His sister also wanted to change their lives, which is why she took all the necessary steps to become a warrior.

Now that her brother couldn't become a warrior, she wanted to take on the responsibility herself and provide for their family. She knew that by becoming a warrior, she could secure a stable and prosperous future.

That is why, after finishing school this year, she decided to join the United Human Academy.

With her talent, she got accepted immediately, and now she just had to prepare for the entrance exam that would determine her admission into the academy.

"If my memories are right, I would also graduate from school in 10 days," Luke thought to himself as he left the house.

After his graduation, Luke needs to decide his next step.

He needs to choose which university he wants to attend and what field of study he wants to pursue.

But that plan was for the old Luke──

For him, he was destined for something else.
