The demon hare lunged at Dian with relentless ferocity, its intentions clear. Its razor-sharp blade poised to strike, aiming to cut down Dian without a moment's hesitation. Reacting on pure instinct, Dian swiftly dodged out of harm's way, narrowly avoiding the deadly onslaught. The demon mother hare streaked past him, its lethal intent palpable in the air.
Now standing, Dian assessed the situation, fully aware of the dire predicament he found himself in. He realized that this relentless demon would not rest until it had chased him to the ends of the earth. Going back to Nina and Sara was out of the question, as they would become easy prey for the demon hare. Dian understood that if he wanted to achieve anything, he had no choice but to confront and defeat the demon hare, to put an end to its murderous pursuit. The stakes were high, and the only way forward was to vanquish this formidable foe.
The demon hare emerged battered and bruised, evidence of a brutal encounter with the demon apes. No blood adorned its fur, suggesting that it had not emerged victorious from the skirmish but rather retreated, harboring a thirst for vengeance. Dian's was lucky that his demon system was able to display the rabbit's health status, revealing that it had sustained substantial damage, losing 60% of its hit points. This revelation brought a glimmer of hope to Dian's eyes, indicating that he now had a fighting chance against the formidable creature.
With a roar of determination, the demon hare made its intentions clear—it sought to extinguish Dian's life. Charging forward once more, it aimed to fulfill its deadly mission. Dian braced himself, assuming a combat stance, gripping the sharpened wooden rod like a spear, poised to defend himself and retaliate. Anticipating the creature's attack pattern, Dian planned to dive to the side, evading the charging demon hare once more, seizing the moment of vulnerability to launch a counterattack.
However, Dian's expectations were shattered when the demon hare unexpectedly altered its course. It displayed an uncanny awareness, anticipating Dian's evasion and adjusting its charge accordingly, closing in on the very spot where Dian sought to evade.
Shit!
Dian's mind raced with frustration, but in a surprising turn of events, he found himself performing a feat that was previously beyond his capabilities. Drawing upon the newfound power he gained from leveling up, Dian's foot planted firmly on the ground, propelling him away from his original dive. In a stunning display of agility and control, he executed a maneuver that seemed impossible just moments ago, diving forward and then seamlessly redirecting his trajectory mid-dive, ultimately landing on his bum.
Yet, before Dian could fully process his achievement, the relentless demon hare swiftly turned around, its blades aimed menacingly in his direction. Time seemed to slow down as Dian's battle-honed instincts kicked in, honed by years of confronting life-threatening battles on the battlefield. With the substantial increase in his agility, Dian's mind seemed to unlock new possibilities. He was acutely aware that he could now perform feats that were once unimaginable to him, granting him a newfound edge in this deadly encounter.
Seizing a fleeting opportunity, Dian leaped forward with swift agility, deftly evading the twin blades from the gap in between them.
Holy Shit! I was actually able to do that!
His morale surged as he rolled away from the enraged demon hare, positioning himself for a decisive strike. With determination etched on his face, he thrust his sharpened rod towards the creature. However, his hopes were dashed as the creature's thick hide proved impenetrable. The makeshift weapon merely managed to penetrate slightly before snapping in half, rendering it useless.
Oh Fuck.
A sense of urgency filled the air as Dian noticed a "-3" floating above the rabbit, indicating a minor injury. Undeterred, the enraged demon hare lunged forward, attempting to sink its teeth into Dian. Swiftly recognizing an opportunity, Dian instinctively lodged the broken stick into the creature's open maw. In a grim spectacle, a "-9" emerged, accompanied by a splurge of blood that tainted Dian's form. Writhing in agony, the demon hare's violent thrashing sent Dian hurtling away in the midst of its frenzied rampage.
Dian winced in pain as he noticed a "-6" floating above him, a testament to the injuries he had sustained. Locking eyes with the demon hare, he observed its desperate attempts to dislodge the lodged stick from its mouth, but it made little progress. Seizing the opportunity presented by the distracted creature, Dian retrieved his makeshift knife from his inventory and leaped onto the back of the imposing rabbit, driving the blade deep into one of its eyes.
A shrill cry of agony erupted from the demon hare as Dian inched closer to dealing a fatal blow. However, the rabbit thrashed violently once more, sending Dian flying through the air. The blade remained embedded in its eye, while blood trickled from the creature's small eyes and mouth. The snapped portion of the stick was forcefully expelled from its mouth.
A tense standoff ensued. The rabbit's labored breaths filled the air as it locked its gaze onto Dian. With only a sliver of health remaining, the demon hare teetered on the brink of defeat. Meanwhile, Dian found himself weaponless. He raised his hands, assuming a fighting stance, though he knew that his punches and kicks would have limited effect against the wounded beast.
In a final act of desperation, the rabbit unleashed its trump card, brandishing its deadly blades in a menacing display. Dian's eyes widened with realization as he discerned the imminent danger, prompting him to seek cover. Regrettably, there was no refuge in sight. The blades hurtled forward with lightning speed, causing Dian to dive forward instinctively. Fortune smiled upon him as the blades grazed his shoulders, piercing through a couple of nearby trees.
Despite the searing pain in his shoulder, Dian paid it little heed and relentlessly pursued the wounded rabbit. The creature, slowed by the recoil of its attack, lifted its head slowly, only to be met with astonishment as it beheld Dian closing in. With a desperate move, the demon hare lunged forward, attempting to sink its teeth into Dian. Yet, this was precisely what Dian had anticipated. Swiftly evading the attack, he leaped back before surging forward to seize the creature's back once more. Dian's hands went towards the makeshift knife stuck in its eye which was now reduced to a mere blade because the hide fell away when Dian fell off. Despite its flawed condition, the weapon cut a bit of Dian's hands and inflicted pain
Ignoring the searing pain in his hands, Dian forcefully extracted the blade from the hare's eye. The creature's thrashing had become feeble, slowed by its diminishing strength, providing Dian with a critical opportunity. Without hesitation, he swiftly lodged the knife into its remaining eye. A piercing scream of agony escaped the rabbit's mouth as it succumbed to its injuries. With its health depleted, the once formidable demon hare now lay lifeless, a mere corpse.
"I... I did it?" Dian murmured to himself, a mix of disbelief and triumph filling his voice. Collapsing onto the ground, he became acutely aware of the pain throbbing through his body, blood staining his shoulder and hand. Yet, these discomforts were inconsequential compared to the sense of accomplishment that surged within him.
A surge of pride welled up within Dian as he realized the magnitude of his achievement. He, an ordinary man, had emerged victorious against a demon, relying solely on his wit and bare hands. Despite the physical toll, Dian reveled in his accomplishment, his laughter mingling with the rush of adrenaline that flooded his mind.
A couple of green orbs floated out of the demon hare and into Dian.
Exp: +10
Dian breathed a sigh of relief as he observed that his experience bar had already replenished by half. With his next level-up in mind, he resolved to allocate points to enhance his constitution and strength, preparing himself for future encounters.
Surveying the area, Dian located the gruesome hide he had skillfully carved from the infant demon hare, intending to fashion it into a makeshift bandage for his injured hand. Applying pain-relieving leaves on top of his wounds, he hoped to alleviate some of the discomfort. As he was about to store the corpse of the demon hare into his inventory, a peculiar sight caught his attention.
Hovering above the lifeless body of the demon hare's mother was a radiant orb, emanating a captivating display of rainbow colors. Its crystalline form fascinated Dian, drawing him closer. Suddenly, the orb surged toward him, merging seamlessly with his body, as if it was meant to be absorbed.
