It hurt, there was physical damage but just brusing no cuts. John's eyes glowed white his face started to crack and he stood as a small golden crown appeared above his head like a halo.
This was pure John, pure power and pure star child with a smirk on his face. He wasn't even mad or furious but he was annoyed.
