Chapter 39: Refusing to Surrender

"We have the data we need. As early as now, we have to plan ahead and think about how we could hack the entire system without alerting the enemies," Noa contemplated, already thinking ahead to the next plan.

"Cyber espionage is stealing, Noa. It's illegal. If we're caught, we're done for. Aren't you concerned?" So-Rin asked worriedly.

"By Infrablack's law, it's stealing. But we both know that this is merely reclaiming what is rightfully ours, remember?" Noa replied.

"Well, if it were that simple, I could have copied the necessary data yesterday. Are you sure that the data you got is critical information?" So-Rin expressed doubt. "Even I, as an employee, don't have access to the data from other teams. Even if you hack, I don't think they'll put critical data in an easily accessible system."

"Damn!" Noa slammed the table, attracting attention.

"What's wrong?" So-Rin turned towards Noa.

In a hushed voice, Noa continued, "You're right. The data we retrieved is only the surface of the system established in Neo Arcadia. We need to retrieve everything and study them before we could get deeper into the system governing the entire Infinity Globe."

"If we attempt to hack the system without that data, it won't be effective–just like the rebels. It's nothing but an ant bite to Infrablack," So-Rin sighed. "To bypass their security measures and gain access to Infinity Globe, we need to have complete understanding of the entire system. With just us, it's going to take lots of years. If only your father were with us."

Noa nodded solemnly. "It won't be an easy task. Neo Arcadia boasts some of the most advanced security systems in the world. However, even if it takes us decades, we must find a way to infiltrate or else we'll never be able to stop them."

So-Rin leaned back in her chair, lost in thought. "We need to have a clearer plan. We must dig deeper and secure the missing data. Perhaps we can attempt to infiltrate their inner circle or find a way to secretly access the special room here."

Noa slowly nodded. "It's a risk, but it might be our only chance. However, caution is paramount. One misstep could jeopardize everything."

Rubbing her temples, So-Rin felt the weight of their daunting task. "Oh man," she muttered quietly. "Why does it always have to be so challenging?"

Noa let out a soft chuckle. "If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. But we're not everyone. We're the only ones willing to stand up and fight. And we'll keep fighting until we emerge victorious. But we'll do it strategically."

So-Rin smiled, a glimmer of renewed determination in her eyes. "You're right. We can't give up now."

"Yes. Besides, the system has its own defenses. But it's not very good when it comes to hacking–at least, compared to us," Noa assured. "But that's okay. We can work out a new plan specifically for Neo Arcadia first."

So-Rin agreed with Noa's statement. However, they both knew that executing such a plan within the confines of the company would be impractical. Developing a new code to infiltrate the system undetected would require time and proper equipment, especially considering the complex and enigmatic nature of the data. Additionally, the potential consequences for the entire city weighed heavily on their minds, further emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

Both So-Rin and Noa were fully aware of the risk involved in executing such a daring plan. The direness of the potential setback made it clear that the risk was something beyond they could take.

Once the inauguration ceremony concluded, the employees returned to their usual work routines. The air in the office buzzed with the hum of computers, accompanied by soft conversations among colleagues discussing various projects.

Noa stood tall, his gaze keenly observing the surroundings to ensure the company's safety and control.

He then traversed the office, conducting checks on each department to ensure smooth operations.

As the workday neared its end, Noa sought out So-Rin at her desk.

"Have you finished your tasks? Let's head home," he suggested.

So-Rin glanced up from her computer and offered a smile. "Just tying up a few loose ends," she replied. "But I'm ready to leave whenever you are."

Noa nodded, and they bid farewell to their colleagues, who casted glances at them, before making their way to the elevator.

When they stepped outside, the sun was setting, enveloping the city streets in a warm, golden glow. Noa and So-Rin walked side by side, decompressing their motorboards and embarking on their journey home.

After a short ride, they arrived in the apartment area, and with a swift motion, they powered down the flying scooter and stowed it away.

As they strolled towards their respective apartments, Noa draped his arm casually around So-Rin's shoulders and gently rubbed her head. "Until tomorrow, So-Rin," he uttered with a smile.

So-Rin's face lit up with a smile. "Goodbye," she responded.

Noa watched as So-Rin entered her apartment and gently closed the door. He let out a sigh and went back to his own unit.

Just as he was about to open his apartment door, it swung open, revealing Eden, who greeted him warmly. "Hey, man! How was your time with So-Rin? A successful date, I presume?"

Noa rolled his eyes, dismissing the notion. "It wasn't a date," he retorted, stepping into the welcoming embrace of the living room.

Eden raised an eyebrow playfully. "Uh huh. Just remember, I'm always here to offer dating advice."

Noa chuckled, shaking his head. "Coming from someone who's still single? Thanks, but I think I'll manage."

Eden laughed heartily before making his way to the kitchen to prepare some beverages.

Noa sank into the comfort of the couch, releasing a contented sigh. It had been yet another long, exhausting day, but now he could finally unwind and relax.

"So, how was your day at work?" Eden asked, extending a freshly brewed cup of coffee towards Noa.

"Something came up, and it was surprising and challenging, but it all turned out well. I'll be working there regularly from now on," Noa replied, accepting the coffee and settling into his seat.

"Oh, does that mean you won't have much time for the guild?" Eden inquired, taking a seat across from Noa.

"No worries, I'll still make time for the guild. My job is in the special forces section, focused on maintaining the corporation's security. While there are no strict 8-hour office requirements, I may have to be prepared for outside duties when necessary," Noa explained.

"I see," Eden nodded. "Our guild has been gaining attention from various parties since our victory in the tournament this month. We've received plenty of challenges with enticing rewards, especially from our rivals."

"That's fantastic. So, have you accepted their challenges?" Noa asked, excitement gleaming in his eyes.

"Of course! It wouldn't be as fun without you and So-Rin. Let's face these challenges together," Eden declared.

"I'll make sure to find some free time for that. I'm ready to crush our enemies in the guild," Noa smirked, taking a sip of his coffee.
