In the Extreme Plateau, the Star-Glazed Imperial Palace was unique in that it didn't allow women to cultivate. It's not that it didn't have females—rather that females couldn't hold office or practice the palace's techniques.

Dongfang Bai was the only exception; not only allowed to cultivate all techniques, but holding the highest rank in the palace: Stargazer. 

Standing above the elders, emperor and ancestors, the Stargazer had unrestrained access to the palace's resources, with the authority to appoint elders, replace the emperor, and unseal the False Star. 

That sensitive rank was usually only given to the strongest of the ancestors. But mesmerized by the Linzi Idol's talent, the Star-Glazed Imperial Palace put everything at her feet. 

Sadly, the perks came with one pesky drawback: responsibility!
