As Devon was struck by a critical hit and Water Pulse one after another, she was blasted away. Normally, she would have fallen into the sea, and Elizabeth would have finished her off underwater.
But it wasn't that easy. In mid-air, a pink smoke erupted around Devon, and several fluffy tails appeared behind her, transforming her limbs into those of a canine.
She then kicked off the air and returned to the deck.
Techniques similar to Geppo were not uncommon in the New World, but for a pirate who had just entered the New World to use such a method was rare. Even more rare was that she could withstand the attack.
"Oh? A Zoan User? No wonder she's so tough."
Olga was slightly shocked to see that Devon hadn't lost consciousness. Normally, she would have recruited such a person.
It seemed that Devon wasn't just an ordinary Zoan-type but a rare Mythical Zoan, as ordinary beasts didn't have nine tails.
In fact, Devon was a Devil Fruit User of the Dog-Dog Fruit•Mythical Zoan• Model: Nine Tailed Fox. The rare Mythical Zoan gave her a physique different from ordinary people, allowing her to withstand Olga's attack without losing consciousness.
However, the collection in her cabin disgusted Olga, and she had no intention of recruiting such a person.
Occasionally encountering talented rookies wasn't surprising. Since she couldn't defeat her the first time, she could just try it once more.
Two balls of pitch-black energy gathered in Olga's palms, and Night Daze was ready to be unleashed.
However, Devon, who was in mid-air, was suddenly enveloped by a cloud of pink smoke and, propelled by the impact of Night Daze, fell onto the deck. When the smoke cleared, Devon's figure had disappeared, replaced by two identical Ulti.
"Heh! Pulling this trick in front of me... You're underestimating me."
The Nine Tailed Fox fruit granted the ability to impersonate, similar to the Clone-Clone Fruit. It allowed her to take on the appearance of others, and to a certain extent, the Nine Tailed Fox's transformation was more detailed, replicating body size and clothing perfectly.
Although it is not the same as an illusion, the end result is almost identical. Olga has studied illusions for over a decade, and using this in front of her is truly looking down on her.
Devon actually had no choice. Though she retained consciousness and didn't faint, Olga's attack was painful. Olga wasn't a frontline fighter, but it depended on the opponent.
For opponents of the same level, her close combat ability wasn't much, but for a rookie, it was still hard to endure. Another attack like that, and Devon wouldn't be able to take it.
Pirates valued freedom, but survival was the prerequisite. Though this might not allow her to escape from here, she can try to blend in and wait for the next opportunity.
However, she chose the wrong target. The people present had countless ways to distinguish real from fake. For instance, Elizabeth and Olga could sense the difference in their auras.
For Pokémon Ability Users, the aura from Arceus' power was especially noticeable. Without needing advanced Observation Haki, just standing nearby allowed them to precisely lock onto the real one.
Not to mention the Rotom on them, ID cards, their own Ability transformation, and other methods of verifying identity.
Failing to defeat a rookie twice was embarrassing for Olga. As a fellow fox, she wouldn't fear a Nine Tailed Fox.
Her claws after beast transformation, wrapped in Armament Haki, mercilessly struck Devon's face, leaving her no chance to speak.
Since her guard was completely down, Devon couldn't react at all and fell unconscious, her mind clouded with confusion. She couldn't comprehend how the other party had so easily discovered her.
"Clean this up! Quickly finish up here. Take those with bounties to exchange for money, and handle those without bounties as you see fit!"
After confirming that Devon was unconscious, a few underlings immediately took out Seastone handcuffs and cuffed her to the side, planning to hand her over to the Marines for the bounty. Given the current situation, this was the most profitable approach.
The battle ended quickly, but Ulti felt uneasy. Watching an identical version of herself getting beaten up felt weird.
After a brief stint as bait, the two groups parted ways. Mandrell's group headed to the new Fishman Island, while Olga set off for the nearest G5 branch, intending to cash in Devon's crew quickly.
Meanwhile, another ship continued its voyage.
In the first half of the Grand Line, on the Genesis, the entire front deck was empty. Besides Shayna, no one dared to stay there; they couldn't handle the atmosphere.
"Lord Sacred Beast, bringing these two out here…umm…is it really appropriate?"
"They're just two kids. Doesn't this remind you of years ago? Yamato and others were also kids back then."
"That's not what I mean. Your decisions are always right, but these two... they're too lively."
As Shayna spoke, she threw out the Red Chain, pulling Meowna and Wolff, who were climbing the ship's rail, back.
"At least we should have brought Setsuna too. With her and Zeraora not here, it feels odd."
Grabbing each of the kids with one hand, Shayna tossed them back to the nearby Chansey. Their liveliness exceeded her expectations.
Meowna and Wolff, by age, were considered third generation within the Beasts Pirates. Due to Zeraora being the oldest son, this sibling pair was born with golden spoon.
Now, at a little over three and a half years old, they were at the age where even dogs disliked them. Coupled with Arceus spoiling them, they can sometimes be downright unruly.
Moreover, Setsuna is the most carefree mother in Shayna's view. Although being with Arceus means there's no real danger, allowing them such freedom at this age is definitely a Mink characteristic.
Considering the Mink youngsters generally sneaked out of Zou Island at a young age, it made sense.
"Let them be. Who knows, by the time we return, they might have new children."
He was merely helping to look after the kids, letting them experience the world a bit early.
...
"Lord Arceus, we found something strange in the sea!"
Not long after, Meowna and Wolff brought a drift bottle to Arceus. Inside was a note and a map, with a slightly provocative message.
