"Sorry, I'm extremely sorry!!" The figure stopped in its tracks. After finding that he had hit someone, he quickly bent down, bowing to express an apology.
"It's alright," Terrance casually said, "Just be more careful when walking next time."
"I'm really sorry... for bothering you," Seeing that Terrance didn't blame him, the other person awkwardly smiled and apologized.
Terrance lifted his head and looked at the young boy who looked about the same age as him.
With his tanned, almost dark-brown skin and squinted eyes, Terrance inexplicably felt a wave of familiarity towards this person.
"Have we... met somewhere before?" Terrance asked, but as soon as the words left his mouth, he shook his head, dismissing this possibility.
"Met before?" The other person was taken aback. "No way, I'm from Pewter City in the Kanto region. Today is my first time in Hoenn."
"I see, so you're from Kanto," Terrance muttered, feeling that something wasn't right. "Wait a minute! Where exactly are you from?"
"Pewter City in the Kanto region... Is there a problem?"
"...." Terrance rubbed his eyes and stared at him carefully. The other person's appearance seemed somewhat similar to the person he remembered, but his memory was fuzzy, and the age didn't match. He couldn't confirm it at the moment. "No, by the way, I haven't asked for your name."
"Brock, my name is Brock," the other person said in a reserved manner.
Terrance was stunned. It was really him.
He didn't expect to meet a renowned character, one of the few characters from the original work that he remembered here.
That Brock who accompanied Ash on the journey through the four League Conferences?
Terrance squinted his eyes. The Brock in front of him looked very young, only about ten years old, far from the mature and trustworthy Brock in the original work.
"From what I remember, Brock seems to be a Breeder as well, right?" Terrance wasn't sure. The anime's description of the Breeder profession was quite vague, but after learning more about this world, he realized that Breeders had a status that was not inferior to Trainers and, in some aspects, even rarer and more noble.
"I might have been mistaken. I'm Terrance, from Fallarbor Town in the Hoenn region, but my hometown is Cerulean City in the Kanto region," Terrance said.
Brock was enthusiastic and instantly became curious about Terrance, who seemed to be around his age.
"Terrance, you said you're from Cerulean City? I've been to Cerulean City a few times with my dad. Maybe we've met there?"
"Perhaps," Terrance smiled. "That's certainly possible."
"Um... I remember Fallarbor Town is quite far away. What are you doing in Lilycove City, Terrance?" Brock's words flowed nonstop. "As for me, I want to read some books about Breeders."
"Breeders?" Terrance was somewhat surprised. "I'm planning to visit the 'House of Breeding' library."
"Really?!" Brock's eyes lit up. "That's great! It seems like that place is the biggest library in this city... Are you interested in Breeders too, Terrance?"
"Yes, I want to read some books about Pokémon training," Terrance said. "Are you planning to become a Breeder?"
"Breeder..." Brock paused. "Of course!"
"My grandmother was a Breeder, and she taught me a lot when she was alive. So I'm very interested in Breeders and taking care of Pokémon."
"Because my dad is a Gym Trainer, I often come into contact with Pokémon... and I take care of most of the Pokémon in the Gym. I hope that Pokémon can grow up healthy and happy under my care. That's what I look forward to the most," Brock said with a smile.
"That's really impressive," Terrance laughed. Compared to Brock, his own intentions seemed quite mundane.
Brock, at least, was a child of a Gym Trainer, which made him luckier than most people in this era.
Brock sighed. "Unfortunately, to become an official Breeder, I still need to go through an exam. I don't know how long I'll have to study before I can pass." After a brief pause, Brock continued, "Moreover, the exam covers basic knowledge of all the four regions; Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. I'm not familiar with Pokémon from any region other than Kanto."
"Can't help it, Breeder Examination is a comprehensive test," Terrance said. He understood this point very well, especially since Hoenn region has Breeders headquarters, so the content of the exam heavily focuses on this region.
"Well, luckily, Pokemon of Unova region, which is relatively far from us, are not included. Moreover, even the Pokemon of Kalos region where the League is currently promoting immigration and planning to establish a new league within a year, are not included; It is even further away from us. Although the knowledge of the four regions is extensive, it is not difficult to understand," Terrance comforted Brock.
"Unova, Kalos?" Brock looked puzzled.
Terrance smiled. For a ten-year-old boy, even ordinary geographical knowledge wasn't something they would pay too much attention to. If he didn't have memories from his past life and deliberately focused on it, he also wouldn't have delved too deeply into these things.
Terrance didn't explain further, he simply continued walking towards the House of Breeding' library with Brock. With just a few casual words, Terrance's image in Brock's eyes suddenly grew more impressive.
"Look, we're here."
Lilycove City, and even the Hoenn region, boasted the most prestigious and largest library with an incredibly vast collection of books, "House of Breeding" which is also said to be a sea of books. The library was unimaginably grand, and just in terms of floors, it had a staggering six levels. The area it occupied was at least ten times larger than the Old Green House, and it could accommodate tens of thousands of people simultaneously.
However, although the library was vast, not everyone had free access to the books within.
The first three levels could be accessed by paying a fee, while going to the fourth level and beyond required certain achievements, reputation, participation in tournaments, Gym Trainer or Breeder certifications, and various Ribbons.
Moreover, to prevent valuable books from being stolen and to protect this intellectual treasure trove, the defense of the library was stringent. Officer Jenny patrolled the surroundings, and trainers and police were hired to keep a watchful eye. Inside the library, Pokemon who specialize in psychic power and Ghost-type Pokémon were secretly observing everything.
For Brock, even entering the first level would already excite him for a long time.
One should not underestimate the books on the first level just because they are on a lower floor. Although most of them are basic analyses, including information on type matchups and common move effects, these are the kinds of knowledge that most trainers and ordinary people do not possess. If someone can remember the content of the thousands of basic books on the first level of the House of Breeding, passing the Junior Breeder' exam would be a breeze.
Placing the rudimentary knowledge of Pokémon and trainers on the first floor for Lilycove City's residents to access for free was a considerate move by the Breeder Headquarters. However, most people tend to enjoy the second level more, which contains books resembling novels, such as biographies. Compared to boring knowledge, these travel experiences provide a more enjoyable reading experience. Whether one can learn something substantial from them remains uncertain.
"Let's go inside." Observing the magnificent and massive building, an absurd thought suddenly popped into Terrance's mind.
If a trainer could possess all the knowledge within this library, how powerful would they become?
However, this thought only flashed through Terrance's mind, and he laughed it off. It was impossible. Not to mention the vast quantity of books, even for the human mind to comprehend, it would likely take a lifetime to grasp the thousands of aspects of knowledge contained within them.

"Hello, please register first," the registration staff said, smiling brightly as she directed Brock and Terrance, the two boys who had just entered.
"How does it work? Do we have to pay?" Brock leaned in and asked.
"Well, if you don't have any other means and are prepared to pay, there are two options. One is to purchase time, allowing you to freely browse the library and even make copies. The other is to borrow books based on the price indicated on the labels beneath them, which allows you to take the books outside the library for reading."
"I see... then I'll purchase time for now." Brock thought for a moment. He knew he wouldn't be staying in the Hoenn region for long, and his current visit was mainly for broadening his horizons. If he borrowed the books, he probably wouldn't have enough time to read them.
Once the staff understood his choice, she pointed to the wall on the opposite side. On the wall was a giant screen displaying the various floors and the corresponding fees for different periods of time. Seeing that, Brock immediately rushed towards it.
"Um..." The staff then looked at Terrance. However, before she could speak, Terrance handed her an azure booklet.
"This is.." Surprised, the staff took the booklet and saw a familiar emblem on it. As she flipped it open, the contents inside left her even more incredulous.
Terrance's photo was at the top.
His name was listed below.
The prominent words "Junior Breeder" and the date and age of approval shook the registration staff's heart.
It wasn't that she hadn't seen Breeders before, but... a ten-year-old Breeder was simply astonishing.
"Please keep it. You can freely browse the first three floors." Smiling, the staff nodded and handed the certificate back to Terrance.
At that moment, Brock returned.
"1st floor for two hours, right?" Brock handed the money he had prepared to the staff and asked.
"That's correct."
Taking Brock's money, the staff swiftly handed him a square piece of paper that resembled a certification card.
"Oh? Terrance, why are you still here?" Bewildered, Brock noticed Terrance still standing there and paused. "Right, you probably know the prices. How is it? Did you finish making your choice?"
"I'm done. Let's go inside." Terrance smiled, without explaining anything. Then the two of them entered the library.
Brock wanted to read books about raising Pokémon, while Terrance was looking for books related to training, moves, and detailed descriptions of Pokémon, particularly Swablu.
Once inside the library, Terrance and Brock went their separate ways. The library was incredibly vast, even the books on the first floor amazed Terrance. If it weren't for the detailed categorization, finding the desired books would take an astronomical amount of time.
If we consider the ground floor as a collection of elementary-level textbooks on Pokémon studies, the second floor would contain books more akin to history and fiction. As for the upper floors, they delve into more advanced knowledge, including topics such as Poké Ball manufacturing techniques and so on.
However, without specialized knowledge, simply browsing through these books wouldn't necessarily lead to understanding their contents.
It wasn't as if one could glance at the materials and process of making a Poké Ball and suddenly be able to create one. Otherwise, Poké Balls wouldn't be monopolized by the League and a few large corporations. The techniques, details, technology, and resources involved were beyond the capabilities of individuals.
Terrance spent some time on the first and third floor and quickly found the books he needed.
"Swablu Species History," "Basic Analysis of Dragon-type Moves," and other important books, along with some supplementary ones on Swablu and Beautifly's moves, breeding and diet, were all collected by Terrance.
Usually, even a single book about "Dragon-type Moves" had at least four or five versions. However, as a Breeder, Terrance had his own judgment and understanding, so selecting the most suitable ones for him was not a problem at all.
Finding the books was easy, but Terrance had no intention of reading them here. As a Junior Breeder, he could borrow them for a long time, and even if he lost them, the compensation he had to pay would be very small. That was one of the benefits of being a Breeder.
After obtaining the books he needed, Terrance didn't waste any time. It was rare for him to visit such a large library. Normally, the books he read focused on basic knowledge and common theoretical concepts. As for knowledge about the establishment of the Pokémon League, the historical relationship between ancient "demon beasts" and "Tamers," and the history of notable figures and recent developments in this world itself, Terrance realized that his understanding of these subjects was quite limited, except for the most basic and widely known facts that even most adults were aware of.
Therefore, after browsing for a while, Terrance arrived at the second floor.
Influenced by his past life' memories, Terrance found himself deeply intrigued by biographies and similar genres.
For the remaining time, Terrance was in a corner of the second floor, engrossed in quickly skimming through certain books.
These narrative-like books didn't require him to exert too much mental effort.
Among them, several books caught Terrance's interest. For example, before the appearance of Poké Balls, humans controlled Pokémon through another special tool, and at that time, Pokémon were called "demon beasts."
Even in the ancient era without technology, humans didn't occupy the lowest position in the food chain.
Hundreds of years ago, this world had a system of nations, and various forces constantly engaged in wars, pursuing resources and territories.
At that time, Pokémon were the primary tools of war, and the concept of humans and Pokémon being partners was a very rare notion.
In addition, Terrance also discovered books that introduced Crown Academy. However, these niche books wouldn't catch much interest unless someone specifically sought them out.
After reading many books, Terrance took a deep breath. The feeling of being immersed in the sea of books, the exhilaration of personal growth and transformation that came with acquiring new knowledge, was truly intoxicating!
With each new piece of information, Terrance felt a sense of fulfillment within himself. The human desire for knowledge seemed to amplify and expand within Terrance!
Checking the time, Terrance stretched lazily. He planned to finish reading the last book in his hands and then head back. There would be plenty of time to read in the future, so there was no need to rush at this moment.
Book Title: "Generation"
Glancing at the name of the book, "Generation," Terrance cleared his throat. It was hard to imagine that this was the name of a person. It was more like a biography.
