"I must go faster!"
Shisui hastily rushed towards Kaito's location, deeply regretting why he had decided to separate from him.
Although Kaito's strength was undeniably immense, the enemy he was currently facing was adept at the Hidden Mist Technique!
Shisui was acutely aware of how the Hidden Mist Technique could counteract the Sharingan. During his years in ANBU, he had plenty of encounters with shinobi of the Hidden Mist.
Despite earning a notorious reputation, to the point that even the ANBU member called Ao from the Hidden Mist Village would steer clear of him, this did not mean Shisui considered Mist shinobi easy to deal with.
Especially when fighting against Mist shinobi, he noticed something: their ninja skill level was genuinely high, and they were truly indifferent to life and death during missions.
Shisui had even heard that these Mist shinobi were watched by a specialized ANBU during their assignments, who would eliminate anyone potentially leaking information if the mission went awry.
Facing such ruthlessly bloody and highly skilled ninjas, one of whom was a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, it was impossible for Shisui not to worry.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Explosions continued to echo, making Shisui increasingly anxious, particularly when he found his path blocked by flames. He was growing frantic.
He didn't know Water Release to extinguish these flames, which meant he had to find a way around, taking up more precious time.
"Kaito, you better not get into any trouble!"
Shisui was incredibly anxious. He accelerated and dashed in a different direction.
His speed was phenomenal, and in just a few short minutes, he had reached the epicenter of the blaze.
What met his gaze, though, was a bizarre figure, arms extended like wings, engulfed by intense flames.
The sight of this figure made Shisui's eyes narrow. Only when he noticed another figure standing beside this peculiar form did he let out a slight sigh of relief.
He recognized the figure; it was Kaito. And the scene in front of him made it clear: Kaito had won this battle.
"It seems I underestimated Kaito."
Shisui mumbled quietly to himself. He then started to approach Kaito. However, the next moment, Kaito suddenly turned around. At this turn, Shisui was stunned.
Because he clearly saw, within Kaito's crimson eyes, a strange triangular pattern slowly rotating!
"That's... Mangekyou!"
In that instant, Shisui recognized the pattern in Kaito's eyes for what it truly was. And in that same instant, he knew he had underestimated Kaito all along!
The Mangekyou Sharingan, the most potent eyes in the family. He knew the extent of suffering required to awaken such eyes.
And he knew how powerful such eyes could become at their peak because he himself had a pair!
Shisui quickly suppressed his shock and astonishment. He had these eyes too, after all. Even in his surprise and awe, he could bring himself back to reality.
"But, when did Kaito get such eyes?"
But he couldn't help but start pondering in his heart. However, as soon as he began to think, he quickly shook his head to break off this train of thought.
After all, who didn't have some secrets? Even Shisui's Mangekyou was known to only a few, even within his family.
But after learning that Kaito had the Mangekyou Sharingan, Shisui's heart underwent a quiet transformation.
"Perhaps he has had these eyes for a while. After all, it's genuinely difficult to resist the clan's head elder without power as a foundation.
Moreover, having such strength, such far-sighted vision, such clear logic, he's practically the perfect clan leader!"
At this moment, upon seeing Kaito's Mangekyou, Shisui had thoroughly confirmed that Kaito was the best choice.
A leader with power, vision, and foresight, who knew the root of the problems within the clan, the village, and even the shinobi world.
Who else could be more suitable to be the clan leader than someone like this?
Not to mention just a clan leader, Shisui believed that Kaito would have no problem even if he were to become the Hokage!
"Shisui, huh? You're back?"
Seeing that it was Shisui who had arrived, Kaito couldn't help but hide his Mangekyou Sharingan and said with a smile.
"Don't worry, this guy has been dealt with. It seems our mission is complete."
"Huh? Oh!"
Shisui's mind was still pondering other things, but he quickly snapped back to reality at Kaito's voice.
"Indeed, it seems our mission is complete."
Throughout the conversation, Shisui continued to stare blankly at Kaito, and the change in his eyes made Kaito feel a bit uneasy.
This look was even more excessive than the one a few days ago, and Kaito was somewhat overwhelmed.
However, Kaito did know that this youngster might have made such an expression after seeing his Mangekyou, right?
The truth about the Mangekyou Sharingan was something that Kaito never intended to hide. Of course, the main reason for this was that he knew it was impossible to keep this a secret.
Since he had decided to resist Uchiha Fugaku and the others, he naturally needed to have some confidence. Displaying his Mangekyou was the best way to show that confidence!
The clan members would not readily follow you to risk their lives, to challenge the existing system, or even to confront their clan leader for a vague reason.
After conveying your ideas and reasons to them, you also need to assure them that you have the confidence, the ability, and the strength to carry them out.
Kaito's intense desire for the Mangekyou Sharingan after his abduction by the clan was not just to prepare for everything that might occur on the future night of clan annihilation.
It was also meant to instill confidence in all those who would follow him in the future—a confidence that assures them that following him will at least not lead to significant trouble.
The Mangekyou Sharingan is the greatest assurance for all clan members. Even if they do not fully understand this eye, the superiority of the Mangekyou over the ordinary Sharingan will make it clear to them.
Although Shisui also possesses the Mangekyou, and Kaito could rely on Shisui to accomplish everything, how could relying on others be as reliable as relying on oneself?
Moreover, compared to the intimidation of one pair of Mangekyou, how could that possibly measure up to two pairs?
"Alright, we can talk about any issues later."
Kaito was in a great mood at the moment. He still had a bit of a headache as an aftereffect, but it was hard for him not to be joyful after obtaining such precious eyes.
"This place is already in such a state, it's not worth staying here."
"Yes." Shisui nodded seriously, and upon hearing Kaito's words, he quickly suppressed all the doubts in his heart.
"It's not good for you to talk to me like this, you're my friend, not my subordinate."
Kaito teased Shisui a bit, then turned his gaze to the Raiga, still being consumed by the blazing flames, particularly the Shinobi sword that had fallen to the ground after its handles were burned off.
"When the flames die down, we'll come back to get the sword and then we can return."
"The Raiga's Shinobi sword?" Shisui also directed his gaze at the two swords, then he nodded, "Indeed, they are fine blades, we can hand them over to the village when we return..."
"I don't intend to hand them over to the village." Kaito interrupted as soon as he heard Shisui's words. "I plan to melt these two swords down and recast them into one for my personal use."
Recast it for his own use?
Shisui opened his mouth slightly in surprise at Kaito's words, but in the end, he said nothing.
Meanwhile, Kaito had already started to imagine himself wielding the Shinobi sword, for the reward he had ultimately chosen was the 'Sword Technique·Water Bird Dance'!
